Michael Heaton’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 14, 2019 | Posted by Michael Heaton Michael Heaton’s Preview Race 1 BOS TAURUS has returned good figures in each of his runs this preparation and excels at this track and distance. He rises from a last-start win in a 64+ to a 70+ here but was beaten narrowly in this grade only two starts back and should be able to lead again from his inside draw. PEGATEGO has dropped a few rating points this preparation and an appreciate goes on board for the first time so he carries his lowest weight of the prep by 4kg. He’s nearly ready. PARADISE SQUARE made a good return last week and is likely to attract support but is backing-up after a first-up run and 1100m may be a bit sharp for him, while GET THE VIBE has been going okay on the inner provincial circuit and has claims. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BOS TAURUS WIN Race 2 GLIMMER GIRL looked an absolute moral last Saturday and connections would have been filthy that her race was abandoned three-quarters of the way through the card. She doesn’t look as well suited here and drawn awkwardly, however, she still rates highly and should prove hard to beat. GANGBUSTER resumes and trialled well without blinkers recently, has the shades on here and should get a soft run three-back-the-fence. HILLBERT simply wasn’t suited in town last start and can improve sharply here. He should land in the box seat. RUSSIAN RIVER’s disappointment in Esperance last prep is rumoured to have caused the frustrated trainer to lose his hair but the rising 8yo’s previous Metropolitan form suggests he’s much better than that. Numbers: 6 – 1– 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – GLIMMER GIRL WIN Race 3 SCREAM IN BLUE rattled to the line from last position last start, backs up off seven days, maps much better here and the rise to 1600m looks ideal. PINK AND PURPLE hit the line well over this distance at Northam two starts back and wasn’t far behind some nice horses in a recent trial. The stable has a knack of improving these types of horses. FOXY DREAMER was disappointing last week but her previous form wasn’t the worst for a race of this type and she can improve if she rolls forward from the wide alley. KRAKKAS has placed only once from 11 starts and is coming out of very slowly-run races but should be rock-hard fit and can lead this for a fair way. Numbers: 3– 9 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – SCREAM IN BLUE WIN Race 4 WHISPERING JACK has had to sustain long, wide runs at his two past outings but maps much nicer here and Jordan Turner jumps aboard for the first time. He looks like he’ll appreciate the extra distance and can turn the tables on his rivals from last week. KICKAPOO has won two on the bounce and should get every chance to do the same again here from the perfect draw but 1760m might see her out. ILLMATIC was well-supported last week and is likely to have to take a sit here, while RECAPITULATE can land one-out and one back despite drawing awkwardly should be thereabouts. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – WHISPERING JACK WIN Race 5 FISHY profiles very well here and the younger half-sister to Hannans Handicap prospect Little Fish should be able to break her maiden status. She has the addition of blinkers for the first time and the in-form Jade McNaught has the option to lead or box-seat from the inside alley. SERKET beat FISHY home by a nose last start and he can go close again if he can find the breeze. DANCE WEST has been a costly commodity of late and has to overcome an outside draw here but can’t be discounted and the jockey change is a positive. SALVARA resumes and showed enough in Esperance last preparation to suggest she can be competitive here. Numbers: 7– 4 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – FISHY WIN Race 6 The progressive EXCARO has won with authority at two of her past two outings and also smashed the clock on those occasions. She has the speed to overcome her wide draw here and will take a power of beating again. DRIFTWOOD GIRL has only won two of her 22 starts but has competed in much stronger races than this and has the best overall figures in this field. ICE ONE races first-up off the back of a very nice trial and has been a model of consistency in her career. She’s drawn to get the run of the race. NEMIROFF also resumes and her best performances have been fresh in the past but she maps very awkwardly. Numbers: 3 – 2 –7 – 5 Suggested Bet – EXCARO WIN Race 7 LADY LE JEAN savaged the line last start and is knocking on the door for an overdue victory but has another outside draw to overcome. She meets MONASH 4.5kg better for beating him home by a half-length over this distance last time they met and should prove hard to hold out with luck in running. WOCKNWOLL is coming out of decent sectional races in higher grade than this and the 100m drop in distance is in her favour. MONASH continues to go from strength-to-strength and has claims again but the drop to 1200m is a slight query at this stage of his preparation. TEMPLE MAN copped a bump at a crucial stage last start and can improve. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – LADY LE JEAN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,6 4,7 2,3, 1,2,4,5,6,7 Market Market
