Race 1

No speed, in a sit/sprint RUSKA ROMA appeals resuming for the Begg stable, latest jumpout was nice work and won her maiden in a similar style of race, no speed, leading and kicking away. NAVAL ACADEMY is hard & fit and surely gives her a test on-speed, JETT SMASH is a real racehorse, tries hard, resuming, stable airborne, may have found his level and happy to see him go around first-up. MOBY DICK is capable, if he’s on song.

Race 2

Wide open. The speed could be strong early with a big field and the Waterhouse/Bott visitor HARRY LIME in the race, not sure what do they do with JUDAS TREE, could burn him up from a wide gate with a short run to the bend at the 1400m. One of the two leads, LARA ANTIPOVA was stinky first-up and needs to improve significantly to find her NZ form, up her sleeve is the option of riding with more intent. BIG WIGS caught the eye late first-up and has jumped out well between runs. SOMETHINGS BURNIN’ was something licked at Sandown and punters need no reminders, big track suits as does the speed engaged.

Race 3

Race of the day! Sydney visitors add further spice to a hot contest. LUCKY BROOK was the pick of the jumpout horses resuming, she travelled deluxe in a recent trial under Blake Shinn and he’s sticking with her first-up, last 50m the test. OVER EXCITED could not have been more impressive winning in fast time at Geelong, on debut. Like many, untried up the straight, the speed on will bring her home. SATONO GLOW can run a big race first-up, my pick of the visitors, from the draw she should be tracking the right horse’s home. VERZAIN has claims and STREISAND maps well, need to see her fresh after a busy 2YO campaign.

Race 4

Best of the locals in my view are stablemates (4) BUGGSY and (3) BIG SKY, the latter looks a more professional horse this campaign, the former has the fitness edge. PARADOXIUM is the big watch for Bjorn Baker, he’s found a limited bunch of 3YO’s and is well-placed by a stable with a good travelling strike rate. Kennewell pair deserve respect, MBUBE looks very smart but he has one race in mind and brought along slowly at the jumpouts, could be in need of the run first-up, ORGANISED CRIME has the talent but doing too much wrong at present. HARD KICK off a gap, take on trust.

Race 5

JENNIVAMOOSE is airborne, from trials to race-day and crying out for a trip, Jett Stanley can put her to sleep and produce her sprint at the 400, good each-way bet. LITZDEEL is the one she has to beat, Shinn up, setting the tempo and that’s where the rider excels. SHOCKLETZ another Maher stayer looking for the 2500m coming through a key form race. NEARCO FROD faces his biggest test of the preparation and has the fitness edge to be winning.

Race 6

Speed is genuine. FANCIFY won’t get it cheap with pressure from LIM’S SATORO and RUN HARRY RUN. SASS APPEAL faces her acid test, she won a walk here fresh, given a gap and then just fair second-up, drawn for every chance on or behind the speed. Like the placement of JUST PARTY coming down from Sydney after a first-up win, only won the two races and gets the speed on from a midfield position and should be charging at them. PLYMOUTH has been jumping out well and can run a bold race first-up.

Race 7

OLIVEANOTHERDAY was dominant and it was a soft win in the G3 Heath. He’s won untouched and has the added fitness, brave to bet against him here, however, first time at Flemington tackling the straight line. He’s going to be short and that’s relative to his opposition, hard to make a case for many. The Begg pair DE BERGERAC and ROYAL INSIGNIA are experienced straight line horses but well-exposed, a case can be made for HEDGED getting back onto a firmer surface second-up, had been jumping out strongly prior to resuming.

Race 8

Good tempo set by MR BRIGHTSIDE, LIGHT INFANTRY MAN and perhaps SIR DELIUS. The latter can win this fresh-up and presents as the danger to star mare SHEZA ALIBI who was super first-up behind the best horse in the country. Stepping up to the mile suits and loves racing at Headquarters. AUTUMN BOY had no market support first-up and ran well at Caulfield, can see him improving up to 1600m.

Race 9

GOLD COAST BELLE lived up to the market support enjoying the red carpet run easing out behind the lead and sprinted away for a dominant performance at Sandown. Quiet jumpouts prior, more to come from her and maps to get across outside lead at the 1400m. ON DISPLAY goes well fresh and has a good sprint, there’s traffic ahead of her and will need luck. BUTTERNUT PRINCESS raced closer to the speed without luck at Caulfield. Bigger track helps. Stablemate GOLD MEDALLIST also trains on second-up after a sold effort in the Cockram.

Race 10

Great race for the Tulloch Stakes winner STORM LEOPARD second-up at 1700m, ran well against the race shape first-up, liked his work at the jumpouts, wide draw, Williams can go forward in a race lacking speed and make a good thing of him. Maher stablemates FUTURE HISTORY can put pace into the race from a soft draw. And ZIRYAB another who may look to be closer this time using Johnstone’s claim to advantage. MR VERSE is set to peak third-up, the draw is tricky with his racing style.
