Race 1

ROYAL REFLECTION was super impressive in her only public appearance. She marched over the top of her rivals to win by an effortless length and expect that she’ll have a big following on debut. Always get excited by these Peters Investments debutantes that trial up well. GODS ENCHANTMENT ran fourth on debut behind Rok N Rom, Clear Approval and Saints N Sinners in a 2 year old 1200. Since a spell he has trialled up twice over 950m at Lark Hill and has looked good going through his gears. Really like the way he wound up in the most recent trial. AURA MAGNA has the runs on the board and the fitness/experience edge. The lead is up for grabs too. MY MALENA has put in two solid performances so far.

Race 2

BOUTIQUE BELLE gets her last chance for me. She’s only a 9 start maiden so you’re being harsh but it’s because of her career SPs and most importantly her likely SP in this event. She’s now been beaten at $4.20, $1.45, $3.50, $3.60, $5, $2.10, $4 and $2.60 (8/9 starts under $5) and with Pike jumping back aboard for a 3kg apprentice in a thin maiden like this – she could be ridiculously short? $1.45? Expect the Vampi Queen / Just Yes race to hold up so it’s the right form but she’s no star. BACK IN THE FIELD stepped out on debut at 1300m and found the line late. It’s hard to get a judge on the beaten brigade on a Heavy9 where the winner let rip and won by 11L but the step out to 1675m does look the right direction for him. SOHO STORM improved 10L first-up to second-up. MOMOTARO will keep whacking away.

Race 3

SOLO VEGA should be ready to win now. In her 3 year old preparation she contested a WA Breeders Classic, a Challenge Stakes and a Natasha Stakes and then this time around at 4 she’s gone huge first-up in a C1, ran well with excuses in a C3 and then was alright behind Back To Bondi as well as subsequent winners Pure Mac and Grandads Addiction. No excuses fourth-up in what is clearly the weakest race she has seen so far this prep. HEAVENLY RAPTURE has been beaten 5L first-up and second-up but they’ve been in races with at least 5L more depth and quality than this. Right placement. BARNEY ROMMEL is 4 weeks between runs and 1800 back to 1675. He runs well at his home track. AH KUM gets the services of Pike and has definitely turned a corner in the last month.

Race 4

PISTONE nominated, accepted and scratched from a 3 year old 0MWLY 1000 at Belmont on Wednesday in preference for this All Age 1100m maiden. Looks a smart move from Mitch Pateman because this 3-year-old has trialled the house down at Belmont and gets in with only 55.5kg. He’ll take a stack of beating in a race where a lot of the older horses have been struggling for a long time. VINO MISS was allowed to stride first-up and got a stitch half way up the straight. Should bring her on big time second-up. CHAMPAGNE TALKS ran third behind Truly Loyal (now a 60+ Grad winner) and Our Main Man (races at Belmont in Race 2 on Wednesday). THE STALAGMITE trialled well recently at Lark Hill and should get every chance from the draw.

Race 5

ZALIS GIFT went back first-up from a wide gate and got to the line well behind Hot Chix Lane, Arno River and Mon Visage. All three of those race on Wednesday at Belmont and she steps second-up to a more suitable 1400m and also finds a race without much speed and pressure which will hopefully allow her to go forward second-up in a completely different race shape. Led a C1 1500 last prep and nearly pinched it (split Jackpot Bingo and Ocean Goddess). Looks a suitable race for her. WIN FOR BUSTER nearly beat now Champion Fillies placed Fine Star in a 3yo 0MWLY on debut. Completely lost his way since then but showed a glimpse last start. OCEAN REEF tried hard on the Heavy9 last start. Hasn’t done anything wrong. PLAYING SOLO was popular in betting but bitterly disappointing on return.

Race 6

MODERN GIRL has come back a different horse this preparation. We’re talking about a horse who as beaten 5.5L in a maiden handicap at Narrogin last prep who arguably could have won three from three this campaign! Led and won her maiden by 4.2L, led and won her C1 by half a length beating Don’t Wink and subsequent winner Guarantor. This is a test being drawn 10/12 and going to 1200m for the first time but she’s flying. LASH OUT has only won a 1400m maiden but has shown plenty of talent in 950 and 930m Lark Hill trials throughout his early career. The booking of Pike takes the attention. HYPERREAL has been a model of consistency throughout his career and is rarely far from them. SO IMMACULATE backs up off 7 days and can come out running underneath Modern Girl.

Race 7

TOO MUCH TALK never looked like losing last start. He was kept fresh 34 days between outings and trainer Jarrad Humphries has looked to preproduce that here coming into it 29 days between runs. Should land in a near identical spot in running and while this race clearly has more depth to it, it looks the right map for him to be competitive at an eachway quote. SUMMERS LEGACY won a C3 1650 and a 60+ Graduation 1800 last preparation. She’s first-up 1400m which is short of her best distance but expecting she’ll sprint well fresh and more than hold her own here in a C5. AIN’TSOBAD went to a 60+ Graduation last start and while she was beaten 3.5L that race is going to produce it’s fair share of winners (Common Touch, Deel Her In, Searchin’ Times, Refemme No Angel – they’re better than C5 horses). LEAVING LAS VEGAS is coming into this 2 months between runs back onto the grass after racing in Broome. Watch.
