Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on June 28, 2024June 28, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Potentially significant rain to fall during the meeting, which could see the track in the heavy range by the end of the day. HUSK was restrained after beginning well last start and expect more positive tactics here. BLUE RENEGADE is having a great first prep and was too slick for Husk last start, after having a tactical advantage. FIRST SETTLER has looked sharp at the jumpouts. SUPERVISE was well backed when showing speed and battling on well to run second on debut. Selections: 4,1,9,6 Suggested Bet: Husk to win Race 2 KIN has been a touch frustrating but doesn’t run poorly and has jumped out well to resume. Her most recent win was over 1100m here. WAVERIDER BUOY will strip fitter second up and The Black Cloud franked that form last week. MRS CHRISSE is fit and racing well. LUNA CAT and MISS ICELANDIC have claims. SOUTH OF HOUSTON resumes after throat surgery and would be an obvious hope on her best form. Selections: 8,6,1,4 Suggested Bet: Kin each way Race 3 GOLDEN CRUSADER has been progressing nicely this prep and looks well placed stepping up to 2000m and potentially controlling the tempo. TROSETTEE has been good at all three runs this campaign and is also ready to win in this distance range. GREGOLIMO seems to find more than his share of bad luck but will appreciate stepping back up to 2000m. FAGIN and LITTLE JACK are in the mix. Selections: 5,4,1,13 Suggested Bet: Golden Crusader each way Race 4 VALLEY KING was reported as getting his tongue over the bit last start and gets a cross over nose band on. His previous form was good for this and he’s trialled well between runs. TORRANZINO looks suited stepping up to this distance third up and gets a near side winker. VEGAS KNIGHT indicated a return to form last start, he may roll forward and control the speed. JABBAWOCKEEZ is on trial this trip but is racing well and any rain would be a bonus. Selections: 12,13,6,7 Suggested Bet: Valley King Each way Race 5 BOSSY NIC appreciate coming back to 1200m last start and looks hard to beat again. SHEVA has shown a decent level of ability in her career to date and has been jumping out in great style to resume. UNCONQUERABLE looked sharp winning a recent jumpout and will give a sight. ENNA’S DREAM has been freshened and will be strong late. Selections: 1,4,10,5 Suggested Bet: Bossy Nic each way Race 6 Some up and comers clashing as they rise through the grades in an intriguing race. BARAQIEL has looked outstanding in his three wins to date, he makes his own luck and has handled soft ground well. JEWELLERY has been back to the jumpouts since her impressive swooping win here and is drawn for a similar run. THE OPEN is another that has been racing through the grades in impressive fashion and has handled soft ground ok. WHY WORRY displayed good speed and fight to win forst up from Hong Kong and should strip fitter. Selections: 15,14,11,2 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples with 15,14 & 11 Race 7 MISS ROUMBINI was well supported and won accordingly last time. She should strip even fitter and the slight rise in distance should be no issue. ALECTRONA is building a handy record and shapes as a strong danger following her impressive first up victory. SOCIALLY SASSY hit the line well behind Miss Roumbini and will appreciate stepping up in distance. VALOIS and EUGENIUS have claims. Selections: 10,12,15,3 Suggested Bet: Miss Roumbini to win Race 8 FLEETWOOD has returned in great form and The Black Cloud enhanced that form last week. The inside draw could be somewhat problematic if the rain arrives? GITALONG had a terrific pre last time in work and has trialled well to resume. LE PARRAIN should appreciate getting back around a bend and has handled soft ground well. SOJU and FAMOSO are in the game. Selections: 1,5,8,11 Suggested Bet: Fleetwood to win Race 9 MILFORD was luckless last start and races well over this course and distance. SMOKIN’ ROMANS has been building nicely this prep and isn’t badly treated after the claim. FOUJITA SAN won well here last time but significant rain during the day would be a concern. DASHING is unproven beyond 1800m but with Newitt back aboard is likely to be ridden a bit more positively than last start and give a sight. POUNDING and RED SUN SENSATION are among the other winning hopes. Selections: 3,1,9,4 Suggested Bet: Milford each way Race 10 CHORLTON LANE boasts an impressive winning strike rate and may still be on the up. He’s been kept fresh since his latest win here and trialled nicely between runs. RHEINBERG is fit and consistent. ST LAWRENCE hasn’t quite lived up to his early hype but will strip fitter third up and gets down in the wights after the claim. EARLSWOOD didn’t have much luck in the home straight last start. Selections: 6,13,8,3 Suggested Bet: Chorlton Lane to win Market Market
