Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on July 15, 2025July 15, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LASH OUT has won his last three trials at Lark Hill and expecting that over the 950m he’ll be hard to beat on debut. Bec Bayliss had a winner on the Fibre Sand at the opening meeting so surely that can only be viewed as a positive? GLOBAL TRIP kept coming behind G’Day Bloke and Beyond The Wall on the Fibre Sand and if it’s anything like racing in the NW on the dirt, the experience on the surface could be worth lengths. BARBIELAND was well thought of at her WA debut and tried hard. CHAMPAGNE COAST has speed and that should put her in good stead. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – LASH OUT WIN RACE 2 BELLA VIOLETTA resumed at Bunbury on the grass when finishing a distant 7.5L second to Asphalt. With Asphalt backing up off 6 days and winning a Westspeed Platinum (that had some depth too) it’s the form line we’ll follow. SWIFT STREAKER took a while to cross from the wide alley last time out at Northam and did a good job to fight on into second behind Strapping Prophet. On the 7 day back-up and likely to roll forward again. DISCO KICKS comes back in trip and gets a set of shades applied. COSTA STAR didn’t have much room to move at stages last start. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – BELLA VIOLETTA WIN RACE 3 ONE PUNCH has his first start for new trainer Steve Burton who has proved himself time and time again a genius with these tried horses. He has previously finished in between Deferred and Silver Eye in a 3 year old 0MWLY so you know he’s got ability. Willing to follow him for the new yard even though he has been costly across his career to date. QUICK COOKIE is double accepted on Wednesday at Northam and Thursday on the Fibre Sand. Top 2 chance in either. BUCKLAND will be on a jump and run mission. HOPE TO RULE can bounce back. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – ONE PUNCH WIN RACE 4 CLEANEMUP burst onto the scene as a 2 year old winning her first two outings before being beaten narrowly at her third start. Since then she’s finished no further back than 3L from the winner in each run and hasn’t had the best of luck on occasion. First-up this preparation she finished 3L behind now Beaufine Stakes winner Repossession. Good placement into a C5. MILITARY POWER is actually racing like he wants 12/1300m now. Great use of the claim and can punch forward from out deep. MIA GUSTO wasn’t suited down the straight fresh. VILLAGE GIRL doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – CLEANEMUP WIN RACE 5 MONEY TREES has been a model of consistency throughout his career and this looks another winnable race for him. What we learnt from the first Fibre Sand meeting: 1) some handle it, some don’t; and 2) often drawing wide and being allowed to stride up into the race with momentum is beneficial. Think he’ll park deep and keep winding up into the race. SANTANOVA struck a Heavy18 last start and didn’t look comfortable. Previous win was strong. TEABISCUIT is speedy and with only 52.5kg on his back will be rolling. LOOKS should be a nice Fibre Sand type. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – MONEY TREES WIN RACE 6 SHEEZA SHEILA isn’t an eachway bet because she’s the kind of mare who will either gobble them up down the centre of the track or run last. The C3 1800m is probably the toughest race on the program and without any real confidence will put her on top. WHY ME put in his best run of the preparation to date last start behind Odinaka. The query – barrier 1, a face full of kickback is not ideal and he doesn’t have the gate speed to possibly lead. LADY DUCATI worked pretty hard last start but was still there with 200m to go and with both the horses in front of her, Lano and Sunny Times, winning on the weekend she commands respect. ROYAL TROOPER is running for Holly Nottle. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – SHEEZA SHEILA WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,5,7 1,2,4 4,5,6 1,2,4,5,6,7,10 Market Market
