Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on July 23, 2026July 23, 2026 | Posted by Chris Nelson Race 1 We race at Eagle Farm in Brisbane on Saturday where the weather is forecast to be fine & the track rated good. (2) BULL RAYNER gets the nod in this opening race, liked the way he hit the line on debut & his second start was also solid finishing. Tempo didn’t suit on that occasion & he was 3 weeks between starts, fitter this time around & good to see premier jockey Ben Thompson stick. (6) MISATO won at the Gold Coast courtesy of a ground saving ride, second horse had no luck & likely wins should those runs be reversed, may end up going around unders? Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet: BULL RAYNER TO WIN. Race 2 Going with the Sydney form in this race putting (2) HOVLAND on top. A couple of placings followed by a win at his first 3 outings this prep he then put in a poor one when stepping up to Saturday grade, he’s better than that & can bounce back here. (6) AMPLIFY struggled in the heavy ground last start, previous run suggested she’s not far away, another who can improve sharply. (1) FELIX THE SCAT could bob up here, this is exactly the type of race he suited to, claim & rails gate won’t harm his chances. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: CRUSADER VOYAGE EACH-WAY. Race 3 Very tricky looking race as many of these 1000m races are. (3) ARISPHERE raced on speed in a line of three here last start & couldn’t finish off. Not the strongest of mares she draws well here for Leah Martyn & may take a trail which will give her a soft run, I’ll lean her way however not with any great confidence. (7) BONFIRE SPARK is quick & draws the rails gate, every chance likely from there. (5) LARADO draws out, gets back however will have tempo to suit, suggest he’ll be the one finishing best. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 4 (10) RACKETEER is only lightly raced & showing plenty of versatility. He led throughout to win first up, closed strongly to win second up & last start in stronger company he went back to perhaps slightly inferior ground against the fence when again finding the line. Three weeks between runs should keep him nice & fresh staying at the same trip. BIG watch on the newcomer to the Gollan yard (1) ESHA who has a very good first up record & her trials suggest she’s ready to go fresh, market? At odds include (11) CRYPTO MISS who resumes & has won both trials leading in. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 5 Going to lean to (5) LENNOX in this week’s distance race. He looked the winner in the straight at Doomben last start however (4) CHILLAXING burst through over the latter stages to knock him over. They meet once again here with a 1.5kg turnaround in the formers favour which I’m hoping will be enough to turn the tables. (7) CAPTAIN MAVERICK comes out of the same race, he did plenty of work racing wide just feeling the pinch late which was to be expected, doesn’t win out of turn however is very consistent in the placings. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 6 (6) AUTOMNE TREE had valid excuses when failing first up in very poor conditions. His next two starts have both resulted in Doomben wins the latest over the same distance as today’s race 1600m. He’s hard fit & in form, add to that he draws favourably in a race which looks likely to be leisurely run, I’d expect Ryan Maloney to have him ready to strike in the straight. (3) LIVALITTLE showed good staying promise last prep & his return run at the Sunshine Coast was very good closing strongly. Rises 400m off a 3-week break, he may need this? Market? Plenty of weight for (1) CALL DA VINCI however he draws softly which helps. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet: AUTOMNE TREE TO WIN. Race 7 Sydney visitor (2) MONTPELLIER looks very well placed here. Just gave away too much start first up yet hit the line encouragingly at Rosehill over 1400m. Kept fresh (3 weeks) he tackles the same distance drawing ideally & with a claim for Jace McMurray fresh off riding no less than 4 winners at Doomben last Saturday. No knock (4) MOONAN QUARTZ who just keeps on winning! Game on speed last Saturday he drops plenty in weight & from the good alley will again park on pace. (8) HURRICANE LU was an eye catcher at the Sunshine Coast; gave every impression she’s looking for this longer trip. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet: MONTPELLIER EACH-WAY. Race 8 Looks a race low on speed which is going to suit last start winner (3) RESTONICA. He sat 3 wide without any cover the entire way at Doomben yet was still too strong for his rivals winning by over a length. Drawn well he’ll gain a very comfortable run whether he leads or not & with the claim carries no more weight. As for this 1400m trip, he’s a 3-time winner over it. (1) ANEMACORE is the class runner of the race, he will get back though & should the tempo end up soft as expected it won’t help his chances. (5) LISZTOMANIA was quite ok in the recent Ramornie at Grafton, doesn’t win often however when he doesn’t, he’s regularly in the placings. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 9 I’ve gone wide in this closing race with a ‘throw at the stumps’ putting (7) SCUD on top. She’s a mare who can find trouble in her races however she’s nothing but honest & comes back from a Listed race last start. The barrier suggests she’ll be close enough to get her chance should the gaps open up in the straight. (1) HELL is a real flying machine, good fresh, trialling well & 5 of his wins have been at this 1200m trip, he’s going to cross, lead & surely look the winner at some stage in the straight. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet: SCUD EACH-WAY (small bet). Market Market
