Race 1

BLATANT VIOLATION will get hammered in betting. He went around in a C1 at Carnarvon which rated through the roof time wise, and punters love that on the dirt. He’s back into a maiden, he drops 1kg and he should be able to work his way to the top and control this event. If you’re hopping at all – do it early. MARITIME DREAM gets the services of a travelling Tash Faithfull. She’s opted against riding Desert Ora in town at Belmont to ride at this meeting so there must be a winner or two somewhere? TAKE THE FIELD really got his chance last start when he worked around to breeze but couldn’t hold them late. COSTA STAR just continues to run minors without threatening to win one.

Race 2

BUSY FINGERS is likely to be the same as Blatant Violation in Race 1. Expect the Dellar runners who raced at Carnarvon on their way up to Roebourne will be really popular in betting. He finished third behind Minilya Sprint quinella Aardvark and Devils I and should improve rapidly with the dirt racing experience. FAMEUX did it way too tough last start at Port Hedland and was entitled to fade out of contention like he did. Hopefully gets a cheaper time of it here. CATALPA is looking to break a really (really) long run of outs. Austin Galti’s booking is a big help to the cause. BORDER CONTROL showed a small glimpse of his old self most recently.

Race 3

STAR POWER looks well placed here. Won a 56+ at Port Hedland earlier in the year, won the 64+ at Marble Bar four starts later and now finds herself back in a 56+ and back to 1100m. She’s got 62.5kg and that’s a real steadier but she’ll be eachway and she’s the class runner of the race. ADRETT is seemingly thriving in the NW and ran into a really nice horse last start in Immortal Shield. That form should hold. FAVOURED SON comes back to Roebourne and back to 1100m. Both of those are in his favour. Must respect everything that Mick Ball saddles up at the track. DENVER AFFAIR is going really well and is 1/1 at Roebourne.

Race 4

MY TEA won a maiden at Port Hedland over 1300m and then went back in distance to 1200m in a C1 when beaten under 2L by Calathinite and Ray’s Sauce (who had won impressively at Marble Bar previous start). Think the step to 1400m is a big plus and naturally any time that Austin Galati jumps on in the country it grabs the attention. Right race for him. PUDDIN ‘N’ PIE is the stablemate and looks the biggest danger. Bit one paced and would prefer 1600 to 1400m but can park out deep and keep coming. WATERSHED WISDOM broke her maiden impressively last start at Port Hedland. Improving filly. PAVLIANI wasn’t bad in the Wing It race and then was scratched at Marble Bar so attacks this fresh.

Race 5

CALATHINITE has been going super the entire North West season for Brett Pope. The only  time that he has missed the money was when he contested a 56+ and got caught wide and was beaten 5L. Jason Li is riding the dirt circuits brilliantly and he only rises half a kilo start to start against a vastly similar opposition. Think he’ll be hard to beat. ESQUEL should be giving a fair bit of cheek here. It took Hit The Jackpot most of the straight to collar her last start at Port Hedland and the time figure out of the race was strong. Expect a bit of support her way in betting. CASSENITE ran well behind Torqued Up in an identical C3 1200 at Roebourne two back. LADY COCO is a watch first start on the surface.

Race 6

OSCAR WINNER and HOLDOUT went to the line locked together last start at Port Hedland and there was absolutely nothing between them. There’s a 3kg weight swing in favour of HOLDOUT with the senior rider going aboard OSCAR WINNER so thinking that’s enough for HOLDOUT to turn the tables, especially getting out to 1800m. Think this race is nearly eachway the field? And if that’s the case then he’s a bet. WARBY RANGES is a 2x winner at Roebourne and if he jumps better can close the gap on that pair from the key form reference race. HUNDRED YARDS went to Carnarvon last start and tried to match motors with the undefeated dirt specialist Only Us. Did a good job to fight on with him as long as he did and has been screaming out for ground.

RACE 7

IMMORTAL SHIELD looks a really nice horse in the making for Kevin Collins and Jess Gray. The win at Roebourne on 7 June was really strong (track/distance/grade) pulling away late and then he monstered them at Port Hedland pulling away to win by an easy and extending 3L margin. Kept out of trouble from the inside gate and avoiding the kickback will be key. PLAYING QUEST ran home well enough at Carnarvon at an unsuitable 1200m to suggest that stepping out to 1400m he’s the danger to Immortal Shield. Can settle up closer too. HIT THE JACKPOT showed he was no query at 1300m and off the back of that win you’d have to say he’s a big chance of running out 1400 here! IMPERIALIZE couldn’t find the rail last start and wasn’t the same horse.

Race 8

ZADAR ROCK won the Pilbara Cup, Roebourne Cup double in 2025 before running third in the Port Hedland Cup and fourth in the Broome Cup. He had looked all at sea down in Perth on the grass but showed he’s just a dirt King when lumping 60.5kg of Jordy Turner to victory at his first run back on the dirt at 2050m. He’s the proven horse. DESERT EDGE is the unknown on the dirt. Nadia Bishop has had him flying on the heavily rain affected grass tracks down in Perth. If he can get across without being caught in the early kick back that’ll help his chances tenfold. ANOTHER NEPHEW was no match for Zadar Rock at Port Hedland last start. GRANITE ROCK gave cheek in the Marble Bar Cup before Another Nephew got him late.
