Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 18, 2022June 18, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 A TOUCHY SUBJECT has promised to win a maiden for a while but this looks his best chance yet. Given 21 days by Brian Allan since his impressive second and with Laqdar Ramoly riding Kalgoorlie like a demon and a barrier with which to work this should be enough to convince his loyal connections to don their best Hawaiian shirt (that’s you Tin Of Cream) and head down to the KBRC to see if he can break through. FIRE AT WILL has done nothing wrong in two starts to date. She backs up off 7 days and will again settle rearward and attack the line. BARACAP should be able to work her way to the top and give some cheek. READ THE ROOM is a work in progress but there’s something there. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – A TOUCHY SUBJECT WIN RACE 2 DEMERITS PRIDE finished second to Nutwood at Northam and then was forced to do a bit too much work last start behind On The Full, Too Much Talk and Star Soprano. Think that’s the best form in this race and while drawn awkwardly Holly Watson should ensure he comes out positive and looks for a position over the speed. KING OF THE JIVE finds a new home with Helen Harding. Might be looking for further than 1200 but shouldn’t be a maiden too long. WE WONDER WHY has shown glimpses in her career and is drawn soft. MY RANI ran well in her first two starts when finishing third on both occasions at Pinjarra, the wheels really fell off after that. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – DEMERITS PRIDE WIN RACE 3 IMPERIALISM can be forgiven for last Saturday. Was super impressive first-up from a long spell in a C1 when settling back and rattling to the line. Went from a C1 straight into a 58+, went straight from 1100m up to 1400m and had his first-up pattern turned upside down when ridden aggressively to lead. Forgive and follow up on the fresh effort. JACKPOT LEGEND can be hit and miss. Think that he’ll get across without burning too much petrol here and might improve sharply. SPINALONG TIME hasn’t been seen for 55 days and Joshua Leslie Francis Brown (JLFB to his mates) can get them going on the fresher side. BRONCKS will get out the back but can reel off a handy L600 for this grade. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – IMPERIALISM WIN RACE 4 MY SQUEEZE LOUISE won a C1 1600 at Ascot under William Pike back in November and then went around $5 in a 60+ Graduation on a Saturday over 1800 when last in work. First-up 1200m was too short and she got caught flat footed when the sprint went on and then last start she loomed in the final strides but couldn’t knock off the strength of Nick Thomas and Divulge. Extra 200m a plus, Luke Campbell riding winners left right and centre and should position up outside of maiden winner So Likeable and prove too classy. AMERICAN QUEEN is stretched at a mile but this is a class drop for her on recent assignments. SO LIKEABLE won a weak maiden last Saturday. Going well but this is harder. SEEL THE DEAL was a great run last start and looks to be building. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – MY SQUEEZE LOUISE WIN RACE 5 TAHITIAN RED was a big winner two starts back in a C2 1600 at Kalgoorlie by over 3L when letting rip at the top of the straight. Last start she was forced to do a fair bit of work in the early stages to find a position. The first 1000m was run 4L faster than C2 average and that’s when she was working forward to find her spot. Was left a sitting duck and was run down by Lincoln’s Law. This looks easier and she looks really hard to beat even with 60.5kg. TOTAL LOCKDOWN can lead or box seat from the good gate and gives the impression he’ll stick the trip. DIFFFERENTIATOR is far better suited here at a mile than last Sunday. MAGIC OF ZEUS is always a winning chance in this grade and as we saw last week with Saturday Sinner Nick Caracapo-pellotti’s horses go super fresh. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – TAHITIAN RED WIN RACE 6 SASSATIONAL will sit back and watch this speed battle unfold for the first 1000m of the race. She’ll need luck at some stage being drawn barrier 1 but if Kyra Yuill can find her some clear air in the home straight she has the firepower necessary to make a race of it. With Meet Joe Black, There’s A Chance, Beaucount and Kentucky Love all likely to jostle for field position it might just set up as a swoopers affair late. MEET JOE BLACK is drawn really awkwardly in barrier 10 with 61kg but he is flying. THERE’S A CHANCE went to town last start and gave real cheek. ROSEICAPILLA can tuck away behind the speed and get a soft run. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SASSATIONAL EACHWAY RACE 7 LITTLE HERCULES is normally a horse who needs a run or two to find his best. The fact that he was able to win first-up as a 7 year old for the first time in his career suggests that he’s in for a good preparation. Is a real barrier and map horse. Needs a soft run behind the speed to be in a position to use his short sharp sprint. Gets those conditions again here. SOLARIZE is caught between grades. Maybe up in grade and down in weight is what he’s looking for? Has me confused. PROTECTED ACTION will ensure a genuinely run race. TAJMALI is better than what she showed first-up. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – LITTLE HERCULES WIN RACE 8 HERRON SAND let rip last start with an arguably career best win. Her first-up effort behind Jakestar was highly encouraging but her second-up run was even better. Nicholas Thomas has had 9 starters for 5 winners, 55.6% Strike Rate and 172% POT. His extended family are buying holiday houses in Peppermint Grove with the punt winnings and he’s got the entire team humming. If she reproduces, she’ll be awfully hard to beat. Almost ready to go to town? SWEET STRAWBERRY is another who is going super at the minute. She’s the kind of mare who gets back and needs luck but she’s got a sustained finishing sprint on her. EMERALD ROSE hasn’t missed the money in her last five and there’s nothing to suggest she won’t finish there again. ALTANI is drawn awkwardly and Brian Curtis takes the shades straight off. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – HERRON SAND WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,11 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 2,3,5 Market Market
