Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on February 12, 2026February 13, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WIFE SAYS YES is likely odds on with bar plates being added – punter beware. But going off her last two runs behind Titan Rising and behind Passion For War / Razmas (in a 58+) she should be hard to hold out back into C2 company. Has to carry 59kg in a highly compressed weight scale but she’s knocking the door down. LYNS STAR can roll to the top in the same role that saw her win her maiden over 1600m at Albany on Boxing Day. She wasn’t disgraced last start at Bunbury in a race where they ran the first 1000m 8L faster than average and were out on their feet late. KIRRILY has continually improved at each run this prep and wasn’t that far behind Wife Say Yes most recently. Concedes her 1kg for being beaten but retains Tash. JET PLANES clearly next best. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – WIFE SAYS YES WIN RACE 2 WHY SHE LEFT has finished 3.3L off Monte Tremezzo, Storm Away and Just Walter John in a 2 year old Saturday, and 2.75L behind Moonshine Queen in a 3 year old 1400m maiden. You’re digging pretty deep to justify giving her a chance, especially coming off a 10L defeat at trials, but Ryan Hill’s horses can be beaten margins at Lark Hill and then bounce back on race day and this is a very thin maiden. Worth a spec. I HAD A DREAM is the obvious on paper, however, he’s now 0 from 23 and in a few of his recent defeats he has nearly shied away from the wining post. Would be highlight reel stuff if Tash Faithfull can lift him over the line past the paparazzi. TAPITLIKEITSSASSY is deep into her campaign but 1100 is her go. HES A FIRECRACKER has no convictions and trialled well alongside Cocoon Bay in a two horse trial. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – WHY SHE LEFT EACHWAY RACE 3 ZADOWS LANDING is an emerging star of the region and there might just be a point later on in the prep where David Page toys with the idea of heading up to Perth with him to see just how good he is. He’s 4 from 4 undefeated at the Esperance Bay Turf Club and he gunned down a highly inform (and unsuccessfully plunged) Meat Pie Artie last start to score. He’s back out to 1600m, he’s a proven weight carrier and doubt there’s anything that will stop him making it 5 from 5. RAZMAS is rock hard fit and 1975 back to 1600 as he looks to turn the tables on Zadows Landing from their 17 Jan meeting. Is 2.5kg enough for a 1.5L margin? TITAN RISING is tough and can be ridden for speed. MORE LIKELY has been thereabouts all prep. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ZADOWS LANDING WIN RACE 4 MIDNIGHT RUSH stepped into a 70+ 1600 last start and finished third behind emerging Esperance Cup hope Mr Talentino and now drops back to 1400, back to 58+ grade and reunites with Wayne Wheatley. He should be able to roll forward in this race and when you’ve got a trainer going at 34% it’s hard to ignore that kind of placement and strike rate. HARLEQUIN PRANCER has had a great time of it in Esperance. She arrived as a 21 start maiden but if you judge her just off her Campbell McCallum career then she’s 4:2-1-1. Can take the step up in grade with the weight relief. CRUNCHY NUT put in his best run of the last 12 months most recently and sneaks back in grade nicely. SECRICITY has been going well all prep but does need things to go her way with her racing pattern. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT RUSH WIN RACE 5 SWIFT STREAKER was a great run last start when unable to get onto the track at any stage. Still would prefer if this was longer than the 1300 but it does allow Victoria Corver to ride him aggressively and get them chasing from a fair way out. The form is on show in the previous with Harlequin Prancer likely going round favourite in a 58+. One of many chances in a wide open race. BIONDO put in his best run of his Campbell McCallum career to date most recently into second in the same event. Tash Faithfull’s booking will catch the attention of many a punter and ensure he’s kept very safe. CALL TIME got to the line really well at her first run in the region. CAP CAVOUR is just doing too much wrong. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – SWIFT STREAKER EACHWAY RACE 6 MEAT PIE ARTIE has been a great acquisition for new trainer Troy Mahood. Won a C1 1200, won a C2 1300 and then was crunched into odds on in a C5 when run down in the final strides by likely Horse of the Year in Zadows Landing. Drops down 4kg in weight into 70+ grade for the first time and the bigger query is probably the 1300m back to 1100m mid-prep but he’s absolutely flying. ROYAL ACCOLADE won back to back races before being toppled at $2.20 by Oregon Hiker a month ago. Freshened, drops 6kg and travels up strongly in his races. DOTHRAKI like all of David Page’s has enjoyed life in Esperance and is always a winning chance. ROCKING GEM has to be a watch first-up, no trial heading down to the Great Southern after racing exclusively in Saturdays in Perth over the last 12 months. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MEAT PIE ARTIE WIN RACE 7 MR TALENTINO should just continue to get better and better as he steps out over more ground. Before last start his previous win was in a 60+ 2000m race at Pinjarra and prior to that a 54+ 2200 at Belmont. The fact he was able to finish second first-up at 1400m was encouraging, his second-up win at 1600 says he’s right on track for a Cup tilt. WILD IMAGINATION has to carry 65.5kg (after the claim) over 1990m. It is a serious task for the 8 year old mare but considering last start she sat wide throughout over a mile under 64.5kg, how could you knock her? TRUE CHANCE was solid last start. This barrier enables Tash Faithfull to tuck him away for the first 1000m. UNCOMPROMISED is out to a more suitable trip now. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MR TALENTINO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,7 3,4 3,6,8 1,5,6 Market Market
