Harry Buchanan’s Saturday Greyhound Tips

CANNINGTON

Race 1 No. 3 Sailor Jim

This is his race if he gets the start right. Did more than enough last time off the outside and can land handy here and get a sub 30 out on the arm. Looks ready. Big show.

Race 3 No. 7 Rippin’ Grace

Probably can’t win as the inside two have a touch of class over her on the arm but she will storm to the line and can hit the place dais with any luck up the back. 600m is her trip but better over this than the staying journey and will at least get a chance now to get into it. Any trouble up front a big bonus. Watch for her late and place heavy.

Race 4 No. 2 Elite Machine

The red jumps, leads and he stokes right up behind her. Only has to sit on her tail up the back where he will put her to a very sharp sword with that dazzling acceleration through the middle. Can ill afford to let her get away or have another dog between himself and the red, but he is simply the best dog in the race one out and she can’t stop him if the map pans out. She is no easy beat though and he needs to be on song. Good contest coming up.

Race 11 No. 8 Close Contact

Barry has the team going super and will have this bloke ready. Kennel mate in 7 is slow and fence and that gives this bloke a run around if he comes out his best. Can hit top 2 with clear running for the master conditioner.

WENTWORTH PARK

Race 1 No. 6 Peace Keeper

Litter and kennel mate to Egg aspirant Len Me Dad. Has a blistering turn of foot when he leaves the mat so only has to step to offset the draw early and he will show them a clean set up the back. Has fast wins to his credit and he has trialled well here. Good show.

Race 2 No. 1 Riptide Ruslie

First heat of the Association cup. VIC visitor who can stay. First up a concern and has not trialled here but has the box to get a look at the arm and he keeps going when he is out and running. That’s his best chance and should qualify for the final with even luck. Don’t dismiss.

Race 3 No. 2 Ritza Piper

Next heat of the cup and she’s back to Wenty and that’s everything here as she has a sublime record track and trip and small field suits perfectly. Does all her best work here, stays all day and can deliver a big last section. Will get her chance and can hit top 2.

Race 5 No. 7 Landyn Bale and No. 1 Kaheem Bale

First Egg semi. The 7 is a huge hope although the scratchings have not helped him here. The 10 goes into 6 and she has speed and stays up a fraction. He can however, burn around her and go out after the 5 here who probably leads. His run last week was super and improvement is surely a given. The 9 goes into 1 and gets a save now. He is boxed to be in the finish and had no luck at all last week. Drawn to hit the podium and can advance to the final if he steps cleanly and holds. The 7 the main go. If he comes out running, which he can, he will take some stopping.

Race 6 No. 3 Custard Monelli and No. 6 Cumbria Days

The 3 can go well here but the first split is critical. He can go with the red but will need to nail the start to cross him. Will take some catching if he gets it all right. The 6 is a monster quote but while he needs luck, he could place if the breaks come. He is consistent and chases hard. Place heavy spec on him only. The 1 the dog to beat of course but he does take a little step to the right at box rise. Superb last start though and looks a huge show.

Race 7 No. 2 Yachi Bale and No. 5 She’s A Pearl

Two scenarios here. The 5 spears, leads and goes into next weeks final, or the red holds up and gives the 2 a run through to challenge. He was enormous in his heat and is back in his Melb cup winning form. Clear run and he advances. The 5 is a champ though and she just needs to step to be all but unstoppable. Great race and one of them should get the prize here with the right run.

Race 8 No. 1 Elite Alex and No. 3 Wiradjuri Jack

The 1 is boxed to win. He will find panels, and I mean panels on his heat run. Don’t be surprised if 29.5 or better shows up on the arm. Can muster to the arm and good luck catching him after that. Monster chance. The 3 is a smokie’s hope only and could place with first turn luck. Has ability but will need an uninterrupted run to figure. Speaking of needing an uninterrupted run, this fav is unlikely to get that with the fence crashing, good beginner in 8. He will most likely have to go around all of them to the first turn and give a start to the 1 or even the 4. He’s not that good that he can do that. While I am one his few doubters when it comes to genuine group races , there is no doubting he is a fast dog who can set quick fractions when untouched. To think he’s not fast is just stupid. However, no favours this time. Hopefully he advances though so he can line up in the final.

THE MEADOWS

Race 5 No. 4 Hill Top Jack

Just needs to settle over to the fence early and wait here. Puts himself into the race up the back and these can’t hold his run home off. Ultra consistent and in the right kennel and looks a huge show this time.

Race 7 No. 3 Bruce’s Ruslie

He wasn’t bad last start. Would like to see him settle more forward this week and get himself in front of the 7 and 8. On the arm, I doubt they could catch him so start critical here. Has a stack of talent and will be hard to beat if he steps quickly

Race 12 No. 3 Jigglypuff

And here we go yet again. Her best run in some time last week and the draw again favours her to get the right run if she could just get interested a bit sooner. We will get doubles again and place heavy is the go but she needs to take another step up now and get the prize soon. Or go to 600m. Can win, should place. Take on a lot of trust.
