The age-old debate about whether the two best sides have advanced to the grand final is not required here. Geelong, riding a 15-game winning streak, lock horns with Sydney, themselves unbeaten for more than two months, in what promises to be a cracker.

So what does it mean? The opportunity for either Chris Scott or John Longmire to be dual premiership coaches. As you would expect, both have had a profound impact on their respective teams’ fortunes in 2022, with the promise of more to come on the biggest day of the season.

The market has a leaning towards the Cats and it’s hard to argue with that. Geelong defend superbly and their aggressive outlook this season has them impacting the scoreboard more often than in previous years, highlighted by Tom Hawkins, Jeremy Cameron and Tyson Stengle’s All-Australian selection.

VERDICT: Geelong by 1-39 points
