Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

Open race to kick things off, bit of speed off the front line which could bring METEOROID (12) into the race, he has been racing soundly and looks like a solid closer in the concluding stages. CLASSNSMART (11) could also be suited punching through from the back row and is a recent solid trial performer. AMERICAN TYPHOON (4) is a winning chance if she can cross but there is speed to her inside which includes EASTON QUALITY (2) and CARA DIANA (3). BE HOME SOON (8) is more than capable in this grade but faces a difficult draw, has a good turn of foot. BONPOPPY (1), MONTERIO (6) and OURFIRSTIMPRESSION (10) all novelty chances.

Suggested Bet: METEOROID (12) each way.

Race 2

DEFEND THE RIGHT (8) has a lot of high speed and has won from a wide draw before, grade seems suitable and enough depth in the race to bring him into it late, go well. HIGHVIEW ROZI (3) has the speed to get forward and could be cheeky in this, seems suitable for a sharp improvement with ROMAN GUARD (9) who is racing well but faces the river draw. ALVAREZ (7) is better coming with one run as he seems more focussed but needs some luck. Up in grade for RANGER RED (6) and AMERICAN STORY (1) is a novelty chance with MUNDI MISS (10) who has shown promise.

Suggested Bet: DEFEND THE RIGHT (8) to win.

Race 3

CROWN GENERAL (1) is racing in top form and has the good draw, has some early speed and will be looking to hold the top and go the distance. BROOME BEACH (2) is racing in top form and is ready to win, both horses have had similar pathways and could potentially fight it out. FEAR THE STORM (4) has some early speed but has been mixing his form, best is good enough. MA PETITE DAME (8) was a game effort in the Country Oaks and can be driven for one run and has that good closing speed. TYPHOON TREASURE (7) is mixing her form and GENTLEMANS PROMISE (9) is good enough but draws wide.

Suggested Bet: CROWN GENERAL (1) to win.

Race 4

PLASTERED (7) was a solid return in a quickly run race and should bounce off that well, looks to have depth in an open race and can go well. LETS RATTLNROLL (5) has shown decent promise and returns off the back of a trial win and must be respected as does I LIKE MY SWEETS (2) who is with the strong Robbie Williams stable and has a nice draw. CANELO (8) will be running on but just needs a genuine tempo. LUCK FROM ABOVE (3) has good early speed and can get into a decent position. DARE TO LIE (4) was better last run and is a place chance with CHARLI BROWN (9) and BETTOR WASH UP (11).

Tips: 7 5 2 8

Suggested Bet: PLASTERED (7) each way.

Race 5

Early speed looks to suit STRIKE MASTER (11) who was a decent run last time out and from the draw should lob close enough and be dangerous, WORLD OF ROCK (2) is improving nicely and has good early speed, if he can lead, he would give some cheek but MONEY WELL SPENT (1) will be looking for that position. ROCKABILITY (7) faces a difficult draw but is quickly away and should be on them early, another winning chance if he could lead but not sure he can find that spot. WESMEDAD (3), FEUGO CRUZADO (6) and CLOUD NINE (8) are all novelty chances.

Tips: 11 2 7 1

Suggested Bet: STRIKE MASTER (11) each way.

Race 6

DOUGS LEGACY (5) could get a nice run in this and looks to be dangerous late, his form has been sound and in this grade is a major player but there are several chances. CHERRY ON THE CAKE (4) will be the hardest to beat if she could find the top, will be heading forward with THE FIRST CUT (3) who also is racing well enough and will be looking for the lead, with this early speed is concerns me for TORREVEAN AMY (1) who may absorb a fair portion, she is likely to sit and come with one run late. GRACEFUL SHARK (2) likes to race on speed and will also be looking to hold a forward position, enough tempo in the race to bring others into it. MACH FREEWAY (9) was good to come from leaders back to three wide and win last start, faces the difficult draw and stablemate REDDY TO FLY (6) will run on.

Suggested Bet: DOUGS LEGACY (5) to win.

Race 7

Hardest race of the night. ALTAIR STAR (1) form is not great but draws the pole and is first up for Hayden Reeves and he has been known to get an immediate response from horses, watch the market. ATLANTAS (4) was sound in her most recent run and is running the gate better, don’t think she can get to the top without doing too much. FIREBALL FRIDAY (5) racing consistently and will look to get forward but isn’t the quickest beginner either. VICIOUSLY UNKIND (6) racing soundly but faces a tricky draw along with SPINNER OF YARNS (7) who has some depth in this grade. LUCY VICTORIA (10) is on the improve and should go well with even luck. BLIND EDITION (11) is ready to win and looks a chance and STRAYLYA (12) is fitter for the first up effort and his best is right in this.

Suggested Bet: STRAYLYA (12) each way.

Race 8 

GEORGE MYBOY (6) is highly talented and has that good early speed and this grade just looks suitable for him to break back into the winners list, hard to beat. JIMMYS RAINBOW (1) has the nice draw and is racing soundly, won’t be far away. THE BELL HUEY (5) returns and has ability, keep safe in this but must be respected. ELQUESTRO (4) will be running on, genuine chance at odds with ACKNOWLEDGEMENT (3), THEMARASSHADOW (8) and OUR MATE JEFF (9) all novelty chances.

Tips: 6 1 5 4

Suggested Bet: GEORGE MYBOY (6) to win.

Race 9

HOTFOOT IT (1) gets the good draw and looks a solid chance in this, if he can hold the top, he will be the one to beat. TRUE GRIT (2) has had a few opportunities now, won’t be far away but finding it hard to break through. MYDADTHETERROR (3) was a solid effort in his most recent run, a noted improver and will be close enough. INTO THE FUTURE (6) has good early speed and can get forward if they push the button, alternatively he is versatile and will sit and sprint well. HALFMOONBAY (4) must be respected but is first up.
