Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on July 15, 2016July 21, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 I AM BOUDICA resumes from a spell without a trial. In her only start she finished fourth in the listed Gimcrack after sitting wide throughout. Prior to that run she was terrific in a trial finishing right next to The River. From gate 3 she parks right on the speed and goes very close. THE CELT is another very talented type who resumes from a spell without a trial and looks the danger. INVINCIBLE MODE and CARNELIAN will sit on the speed and can beat the others. Numbers – 8 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – I Am Boudica save The Celt RACE 2 THREE VOTES is a very speedy type who will take plenty of catching. His recent trial win was blistering. WAR IN PARIS bolted when resuming from a spell at Pinjarra. This is harder but she measures up. RECOILED is another smart type who resumes from a spell. His wide draw the query. WAR JEUNE won well first-up. This race contains more depth but he has claims. Numbers – 5 – 9 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – Three Votes win RACE 3 FLYTEGO can improve sharply in this race. He ran well at his first two runs back from a spell before disappointing at his most recent start although his jockey reported he never wanted to stretch out. His best form measures up in this. GIGANTE looks the leader and is the one to run down. DJANGO resumes from a spell for his new trainer Alan Mathews. He can run a race at odds. FLYING TIME will box seat and has claims. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – Flytego save Gigante RACE 4 ASTRONOMITE looks a nice horse. He has won his last two starts in top fashion. This is rise in class but he goes well again. ELLORA MAY has been flying all campaign. She sits handy to the speed and can win again. MY GREEK BOY looks the other winning chance. CONE BOY has the blinkers going on and can lead and give a sight. Numbers – 5 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – Astronomite and Ellora May RACE 5 ROYAL SUPREME came off a 9 week at Pinjarra where he ran a strong second. He should improve off that run and will appreciate the step up to 1650m. MULGA put in a big effort first-up when he parked wide throughout carrying 60kg. If he gets any luck from his draw he goes close. GEORGE ‘N’ ERNIE looks close to a win and should get a lovely run from his good draw. FORESEEN can give a sight from out in front. Numbers – 4 – 8 – 13 – 1 Suggested Bet – Royal Supreme and Mulga RACE 6 DON’TGETCAUGHT is off the quick back up after running well last week. This looks a softer race and Pike retains the mount. FO’ SHIZZLE was solid first-up and should improve sharply with the increase in distance and can settle handy to the speed from a good draw. RAISING DUBAI should get a lovely run from gate 1. SHALO is another who should improve second-up. Numbers – 5 – 11 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – Don’tegetcaught each-way RACE 7 MILITARY REIGN should fire straight to the front and take a heap of beating in this year’s Beaufine Stakes. Pike goes back on and she gets down to 54.5kg. GENERAL GROOVE is an interesting runner. He makes his local debut for his new trainer Simon Miller. MALIBU STYLE was a very impressive winner last start. He has claims again. ROCK MAGIC won this race last year carrying 58.5kg. Numbers – 8 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – Military Reign win RACE 8 MY MAGIC MISS is in terrific form and she should get all the favours from her good draw and go very close again. PRESENT ARMS looks just about ready and Jarrad Noske going on is a big plus. THE FLIRT is racing well and Pike rides. DRUPA gives a big kick on the speed. Numbers – 6 – 8 – 3- 2 Suggested Bet – My Magic Miss each-way QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, 13 RACE 6 – 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11 RACE 7 – 8 RACE 8 – 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-07-16/pr” linkrel=””]
