AFL Power Rankings: Round 6 Posted on April 26, 2021April 26, 2021 | Posted by Digby Beacham 1. MELBOURNE Last week: 3 Passed the biggest football audit in the game with flying colours. Ruthless and mature. Will be 7-0 after mauling North Melbourne this weekend. Next up: North Melbourne (Blundstone Arena) 2. WESTERN BULLDOGS Last week: 1 The midfield depth continues to have an enormous impact each week. Look to have sufficient talent in the VFL to cover the injuries of Josh Dunkley, Tom English and Lin Jong. Next up: Richmond (MCG) 3. PORT ADELAIDE Last week: 4 Awfully hard to score against at home and have class on every line. The best interstate side in the competition. Next up: Brisbane (Gabba) 4. RICHMOND Last week: 2 Couldn’t match motors with Melbourne. The win-loss ledger is a concern, as are their mounting number of injuries. Still have credits in the bank. Next up: Western Bulldogs (MCG) 5. GEELONG Last week: 6 Made a statement of intent against West Coast. The forward-line pairing of Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron looks like it will work just fine. Next up: Sydney (SCG) 6. WEST COAST Last week: 5 Ordinary once more on the road. Are different beasts at home, but are wounded. Yet to see a four-quarter effort. Next up: Fremantle (Optus Stadium) 7. BRISBANE Last week: 7 Have started to find their best form. Now have to make do without Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale (ankle) for an extended period. Next up: Port Adelaide (Gabba) 8. FREMANTLE Last week: 8 Going along nicely. Get their best look at a western derby win for some years this weekend. David Mundy in rare nick. Next up: West Coast (Optus Stadium) 9. SYDNEY Last week: 9 Concerns surrounding their plight are real. Finalists shouldn’t be getting beaten by a banged-up Gold Coast. Simple as that. Next up: Geelong (SCG) 10. GWS Last week: 12 Overpowered by the Western Bulldogs, but their overall endeavour was hard to fault. Toby Greene continues to lead like a pro. Next up: Adelaide (Adelaide Oval) 11. ESSENDON Last week: 15 Bombers fans are entitled to think the tide has turned. Young and quick. The win over Collingwood came without a few key players being available. Next up: Carlton (MCG) 12. CARLTON Last week: 11 John Worsfold better start helping David Teague soon. Next up: Essendon (MCG) 13. COLLINGWOOD Last week: 14 A side with their list needs quality players available, not sidelined by injury. Finals gone now. Next up: Gold Coast (MCG) 14. ST KILDA Last week: 13 Talking of finals gone. Nobody could have forecast the Saints would be as cast as they are this early in the year. Next up: Hawthorn (Marvel Stadium) 15. GOLD COAST Last week: 16 Well done on responding like they did against Sydney. Need to back it up now. Next up: Collingwood (MCG) 16. HAWTHORN Last week: 17 Still a long way off where they need to be despite the win over Adelaide. Next up: St Kilda (Marvel Stadium) 17. ADELAIDE Last week: 10 They sit in this spot for no other reason than the bungled Tom Lynch sub situation. What was that? Next up: GWS (Adelaide Oval) 18. NORTH MELBOURNE Last week: 18 They try hard, but they’re not much chop. Next up: Melbourne (MCG) Market Market
