Runner by Runner: WA Pacing Cup Posted on December 2, 2020December 2, 2020 | Posted by Trent Cooper 1. Jack Farthing Trainer: Justin PrenticeDriver: Chris Lewis Newcomer to the state who defeated a restricted class field before running a nice 3rd behind Chicago Bull and Shockwave after enjoying a lovely trip in transit. He ran a solid 5th in the Fremantle Cup and adds plenty of interest from the pole draw as he has the gate speed to lead if desired. 2. Mighty Conqueror Trainer: Greg & Skye BondDriver: Dylan Egerton-Green The reigning WA Pacing Cup winner who faced the breeze and proved too strong on that occasion. He then had nine months away from the racetrack and his four starts back have been solid without striking fear into his opponents. He was knocked over on the first turn in the Fremantle Cup but needs to find a few lengths to threaten Chicago Bull tonight. 3. Vultan Tin Trainer: Phil CostelloDriver: Shannon Suvaljko 8YO gelding who finished 4th in an Inters final and is a proven performer at this level. He finished the race off strongly when finishing midfield in the Fremantle Cup and is a roughie with a chance from his more favourable draw tonight. 4. Vampiro Trainer: Greg & Skye BondDriver: Colin Brown The runner-up in both the Fremantle and WA Pacing Cups early in the year who overcame barrier nine on both occasions by using his blistering gate speed to find the front. He led in the Fremantle Cup when a fair 6th to Chicago Bull and it is hard to see him turning the tables tonight. 5. Ocean Ridge Trainer: Greg & Skye BondDriver: Deni Roberts An opportunist with a sizzling turn of foot when saved up for one run and hit the line nicely in the Fremantle Cup but needs the race run upside down to figure in the finish. 6. Braeview Bondi Trainer: Michael BrennanDriver: Michael Grantham Got a lovely cart into the race when a solid but distant 4th to Chicago Bull before leading throughout in a weaker Free For all event. He is a horse on the rise but wasn’t dealt any favours at the barrier draw and looks to be making up the numbers tonight. 7. Chicago Bull Trainer: Gary Hall SnrDriver: Gary Hall Jnr Multiple Group One winner who has returned from an injury-enforced break and is back to his absolute best. He was a dominant winner of the Fremantle Cup before just failing to catch Perfect Major in a minor race last week. He will be fully screwed down for this assignment and is clearly the one to beat. 8. Perfect Major Trainer: Ross OlivieriDriver: Chris Voak The new kid on the block who impressed with victories at his first four starts this time in against weaker fields and then stepped up to the big time and ran a brave 3rd to Chicago Bull and Shockwave. He never saw daylight in the Fremantle Cup before leading throughout to defeat Chicago Bull last week. He isn’t as well drawn tonight but can’t be overlooked. 9. Bletchley Park Trainer: Stephen ReedDriver: Lindsay Harper Talented 4YO who didn’t get out until too late when a close-up 4th to Chicago Bull in the Fremantle Cup. He has a lovely turn of foot but will need all of the favours to be in the finish from his horror draw. 10. To Fast to Serious Trainer: Ray WilliamsDriver: Aldo Cortopassi Up and comer who has won 13 of his 20 career starts. He took on fast class company for the first time last week and was only beaten 2.5 metres when 3rd to Perfect Major and Chicago Bull. He gets a nice draw for his sit-sprint style and looks an each-way chance at his first go at the big time. 11. Galactic Star Trainer: Greg & Skye BondDriver: Ryan Warwick A proven performer in this company and has made an Interdominion Final but is still searching for his maiden Group One Victory. He ran on strongly from a similar draw when 2nd in the Fremantle Cup and will be charging home again tonight. 12. Convert Denario Trainer: Ray WilliamsDriver: Aldo Cortopassi 6YO gelding who looks out of his depth again tonight. He is likely to head straight to the pegs but it will be a surprise to see him run into the placings against this line-up. 13. Our Jimmy Johnstone (1st Emg) Trainer: Greg & Skye BondDriver: Michael Grantham Oldtimer who can follow them around and not be too far away if he gets a perfect draw but it is hard to see him finishing in the money if he does get a start. 14. Balcatherine (2nd Emg) Trainer: Gary Hall SnrDriver: Up and coming mare who has been ultra-impressive in winning her last two starts against her own sex. Will be a major player if she happened to get a start from an inside barrier and can still be thereabouts from a bad draw. SELECTION: Chicago Bull Has held the mantle of the state’s best pacer for a while and stamped his authority with a dominant Fremantle Cup win after doing all of the work. He doesn’t look to map particularly well again but is suited by the longer journey and it will take a special effort from a rival to beat him tonight. Market Market
