Matt Young’s Saturday Northam Preview Posted on July 30, 2026July 31, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 THUNDER WARRIOR (2) was just a plain effort last time out and if that wasn’t on his record I would nearly declare that this was his race, has the speed to lead and then has options, go close on prior form. CAMEL PLUS (3) is improving and might look to be aggressive here, still learning the game but looks to be more comfortable with more consistency. PAPPINBARRA LADY (4) is racing consistently and what you see is what you get, she will not be far away. MY SALINA (7) needs some luck but will be running on, racing well. ALTA GABBANA (1) and PURELY PANDEMIC (9) next best. Tips: 2 3 4 7 Suggested Bet: THUNDER WARRIOR (2) to win. Race 2 BET IM HOT (6) improved nicely in the second effort this time in, looks just as suitable a race and will be hard to beat again. MA PETITE DAME (9) looked a treat first up and ran into some bother but powered home soundly and will bounce off that well, looks a major player in this. NOD FROM ABOVE (8) was held up late in her most recent run and can be saved up for one run and appreciate this drop in grade on recent form. The others all are capable of a top four finish with even luck on their respective form. Tips: 6 9 8 3 Suggested Bet: MA PETITE DAME (9) each way. Race 3 LINCOLN LOVER (10) hasn’t had an enjoyable experience since coming across to WA, he is a high-speed horse and been left without cover more often than not and chased hard in a recent race where they went 1.54.7, this looks suitable and I think he can bring up his first win in WA. TRICKY TEXAS (7) faces a tricky draw; he is talented but will need a touch of luck early and there is some depth in this. WESSY KID (3) was impressive in good time in his maiden victory, could speed across and has options from there. DEVIL IN DISGUISE (5) better suited this grade and has plenty of ability, expect him to bounce back well and be on speed. ARMA MUSHU (6) returns and has shown promise. Tips: 10 7 5 3 Suggested Bet: LINCOLN LOVER (10) to win. Race 4 Good contest here. LILLIE QUEEN (4) returns and will be aggressive looking for the top, comes in fresh which is of course a concern but if she was to lead on what she was doing last time in, she will be hard to run down. LUCKY COPY (9) is racing well and has a good turn of foot, will be powering home. DIAMOND WORLD (8) and SHEER ROCK LADY (10) have both had the same pathways and not much splitting them, the latter can probably do more work in her races which swings me more in her direction. SHECANPLAY (2) a place chance with BULL SHARK BETTY (3), both rising in grade and MISS VINCENZA (7) racing well but needs luck. Tips: 4 9 10 8 Suggested Bet: LUCKY COPY (9) each way. Race 5 RONA MAY (9) caught the eye with the way she finished in her most recent effort; this represents a drop in grade and looks very hard to beat for mine, go close. EYE BETTER (2) was a sound performance last time out and prior form was luckless, she will be around the mark again with MAJOR BUZZ (3) who had every chance last time out, he is racing soundly and doesn’t look likely to lead this. FRANKENSTEINSBRIDE (1) wasn’t a bad effort last time out and drawn to be prominent. GOGGINS (6) will be running on and LETS ROCK TONIGHT (5) racing well, but this looks a challenge. Tips: 9 2 1 3 Suggested Bet: RONA MAY (9) each way. Race 6 JACK CARROWACK (5) continues to improve and looks a strong chance in this, should work his way to the top and can make it three in a row. MACH FREEWAY (9) has elevated since entering the new stable, likely to push around to the breeze once they settle and will go well here. LUCK FROM ABOVE (1) drawn to get a good run and is a strong novelty chance with DRIVE LINE (7) suited by the grade and faces a tricky draw but expecting him to hit the line better here. Novelty chances to GLOBAL HERITAGE (8) and KINSAABI (6). Tips: 5 9 1 7 Suggested Bet: JACK CARROWACK (5) to win. Race 7 ALLWOODS CHEVRON (2) has hit a purple patch of form and looks the likely leader in this and will be hard to run down, has been racing strongly in this grade. VELVET SHADOW (10) had no luck last time out and still hit the line powerfully, he is racing well but will need something to go his way from the draw. THE DARK NIGHT (4) drops in grade and can run well, has been sound with his performances in town. Novelty chances to BLIND EDITION (1), RAMBO RABBIT (7) and HUGHEY (8). Tips: 2 10 4 1 Suggested Bet: ALLWOODS CHEVRON (2) to win. Race 8 THIS TIME JACKO (6) returns and is a capable type in this grade, suitable field and looks a major player in this but wouldn’t want to be diving in too short on return but looks a good race for him. IDEAL WHITBY (9) will be running on well, starting to build up his consistency. BETTOR BE BUCKS (1) ideally drawn but lacks a bit of early dash which will be detrimental to JORDANO (8) who follows from the back row. TAYLORS BOY FRED (3) has some speed and should be thereabouts. Tips: 6 8 7 1 Suggested Bet: THIS TIME JACKO (6) to win. Market Market
