Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 30, 2026July 30, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 Highly talented lineup over a mile creates a lot of interest. IM STEALTHY (8) was outstanding last time in and I keep looking back to his run in the Golden Slipper and thinking he is as good as any 2yo from last season, expecting him to run a big race. D MAC (12) faces a tricky draw and has got a run under his belt, needs to be up on speed and could charge through the pack early. JUSTASMOOTH MIKI (2) returns and looks the early leader, the stable confidence will decide whether they stay in front or take cover. BUMRAH (3) is rising in class massively but ran a brilliant mile at Pinjarra. HE IS TALKING (6) is in top form but will have to do some work in this race again. WAKE UP GEOFF (9) faces an incredibly difficult challenge and is coming in fresh. IDEAL DIAMOND (10) a novelty chance saved up for one run. Tips: 8 12 3 2 Suggested Bet: IM STEALTHY (8) to win. Race 2 CAPTAIN CONFETTI (1) is second up and holds the key to the race, his first up run was good and should bounce off that well, has options from the draw and should run well. WHEN IN VEGAS (2) will be looking for the top but life gets harder for him if he doesn’t lead. HILLVIEW BONDI (12) will move into the race and looks a strong chance to find the breeze and keep them honest. OPAL HUNTER (8) drops in grade and has plenty of speed, if he could find the top, he would win this but that’s an unlikely but favourable map for his punters. LOU LAMOUR (4), CHACO EAGLE (5), and BEYOND THE SEA (10) all novelty chances with the latter getting a soft run on the pegs. Tips: 1 12 8 10 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN CONFETTI (1) each way. Race 3 LUCCA (5) looks a strong chance to be driven forward for the top and is knocking on the door, deserves a win. DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (1) is racing well and might look to take the softer option but has the speed to pick and choose. IM LIGHTNING BANNER (8) is racing in top form and may run the gate as well, he would win if he could find the front but there is further speed drawn to his inside including OUR CRUNCH TIME (7) who looks to bounce back and CHIVALRY (6) is racing well along with chances to SWEET COCO (9) and SOHO MOONRAKER (11). Tips: 5 8 1 6 Suggested Bet: LUCCA (5) each way. Race 4 MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) set the track alight in the concluding stages to his Pinjarra trial and looks hard to beat in this free for all event. BETTORS PRIDE (6) will be charging out and looking for the top and has got fitness on his side, they may try and hold him out if they can beat him across to test him but find it hard to see him winning against the champ. HUNGER STRIKE (1) nicely drawn and has the speed to be prominent and try and place with EASTBRO CHRISSY (2) to find this incredibly difficult, BEACH DIAMOND (3) will be hoping for a softer run, good test from an actual position this time around. HEAVENLY GIPSY (10) a place chance from the rail with GOODFELLAZ (12) running on. Tips: 9 6 1 10 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM/BETTORS PRIDE to Exacta. Race 5 MAJOR DISCO (1) has the draw and speed to lead, was a good winner last time out and is wonderfully consistent but him sticking his head out has been questionable in the past but they never got near him in his heat win, go well again here. AMERICAN BLAZE (4) will be looking for a forward position and was a good first up win for the new stable. CURADH (12) needs some tempo on but think he will get that and run home powerfully. BEYOND BLING (10) couldn’t have asked for a better draw, place chance with SUN PUBLISHER (11) who is better suited from this soft draw. FROM TIGERLAND (6) and OVERLY EXCITED (9) racing well but drawn poorly. Tips: 1 12 4 10 Suggested Bet: CURADH (12) each way. Race 6 SCOOTER B (4) will return a winner, his trial was soft and would’ve been screwed down in his track work for his return run but ultimately him at 80% is a very good animal, should win. TRAVELBAN (5) will roll forward and look for some cover but being on speed can see him run well. TRUE GRIT (1) drawn to get a soft run and improve, can be placed in this with awkward draws for RAKERO RAIDER (6), HOLD THE AMMO (7) and RAKLOU (8) who are all capable of running top 4 in this. FEELING ACES (10) a novelty chance from the draw. Tips: 4 5 1 8 Suggested Bet: TRUE GRIT (1) to place. Race 7 STORMY VISTA (3) savaged the line last time out and is a good beginner, looks a strong chance to run to the lead and from there he looks very hard to beat. LUVBITE (12) is flying and his form is undeniable but once again just needs a bit of chaos or genuine tempo to bring him right into it. TWOBOB CRACKER (1) nicely drawn to step and look to hand and is a strong place chance with THOMSON BAY (2) who has been stepping well off handicaps but fronts up from scratch today, novelty chance. PETES HONOUR (10) capable of better than last run but needs to step, worth something on if he flies under the radar. ROCK ME OVER (5), MIGHTY MAGICIAN (9) and MAUNGATAHI (11) all novelty chances with the right runs. Tips: 3 12 1 2 Suggested Bet: STORMY VISTA (3) to win. Race 8 SPITFIRE (12) drops in grade and has a draw where he can watch things unfold and be put into it, looks very hard to hold out in this after a few good confidence builders, ready to win. CAPTAIN SAID SO (9) has a brilliant amount of high speed which can help him overcome the draw and looks a strong chance again even from the river. CAPTAINS CREEK (8) has elevated in recent runs, thought he was good effort, even though expected according to the market, he impressed me as I’ve been a bit critical of him this time in. Novelty chances to DAT LOVELY (2), SNAKEY BAY (3), SPUDMEISTER (10) and GOODTIME LOUIS (6). Tips: 12 9 8 2 Suggested Bet: SPITFIRE (12) to win. Race 9 Hardest race of the night to figure out. AZIONE (9) continues to improve but it will not be easy from the draw and will have to do his fair share of work. ELLEOFAREACTOR (2) holds the key to the race in many ways, will look to try and cross and then has options. OUR MAJOR JACK (3) will be hoping she hands up as he will run well if he could find the lead, but all his eggs will need to be in that basket. CALL TO ARMS (5) might try and charge across again, he is racing well and is a novelty chance with some winning claims in this. SHES A MARE (6) and MINOR CATASTROPHE (8) are similar types who have a good turn of foot when saved up. ZLATO (7) is not the worst but looks an awkward map. DEE JAYS BIG BOY (11) and BALTIC ACE (10) going well enough. Good luck punters. Tips: 9 8 2 11 Suggested Bet: MINOR CATASTROPHE (8) each way. Race 10 GRUMPEE (3) trialled well for his return and has a 10m and beyond handicap advantage over his race fit rivals, normally steps safely and looks a strong chance to work to the lead and he impressed me in the trial, go well on return. MYSTERY FRED (6) and MCGEE (4) both having a wonderful battle for mantle for top current trotter, both will be in the thick of it again. MAJESTIC GA GA (8) is finding it hard off her handicaps and against a couple of talented types who can run time. LUVAFLAIR (7) a novelty chance with LOTS OF CHANGE (2). Tips: 3 4 6 8 Suggested Bet: GRUMPEE (3) to win. Market Market
