Race 1

KARSAVINA has had one run on the dirt so far this NW season and that was in a 56+ at Derby when a month between runs. Wasn’t entirely disgraced beaten 5L behind Play Dice and Bin Shalaa and banking on the natural improvement that all horses take at their second start on dirt. This C2 is very thin and kept out of trouble might be the best option. POWER TO RULE is likely to lead very (very) cheaply. Only horse with any real early speed (or intent) and with Tash Faithfull on you know you’ll get every chance. MOMENT IN THE SUN couldn’t quite get him at Derby over 1400. SCHUHBECK doesn’t stay. Back to 1600m the right move.

Race 2

OLE GRANDE has gone around in a C2 and a 58+ at his last two outings with the maidens being over an unsuitably long 1435m on 11 July and then no maiden 8 days ago on Tradies Day. So back into a maiden, Sue Olive’s team going really well and limited opposition make for an attractive proposition here. Most of these have had their chance, he’s less exposed. BOUTIQUE SESSION again should have no trouble leading. It’s just finishing off the end of her races that’s been an issue throughout her career! COUPE DEJURJ kept coming under pressure at Derby when put into the race by Jess Gray. GLYDA was in that race as well and put in his best career effort.

Race 3

DUST ASIDE led and won his maiden by 6L before going into a C2 as an odds on favourite. He didn’t lead and then was gobbled up late in the race by emerging dirt cult hero (second coming of Rogues Point some are saying) in What’s The Point who has since won again in style. Kept fresh 3 weeks between runs, should get across to at worst breeze, if not lead and from there he’s the one to beat for the regions hottest combination. OCEAN OUTLAW is the stablemate who won last start in a higher grade. Rises 6.5kg start to start (even after the claim) and draws outside the main danger. Makes life tough. FIRE THE GUARD drops back in grade and his race was over very early first-up when copping a bump. Forgive. CITY OF SIN won fifth and sixth-up last prep. Tash on catches the eye.

Race 4

MOHEGAN RULER was 34 days between runs and having his first start on the dirt for new trainer Roy Rogers when he finished third to Whats The Point and Coondle. They meet again here at 1300m and while there’s a 2kg swing against him here he goes from a 4kg claiming apprentice to a dirt King in Austin Galati. Game on. COONDLE was a better run than him last start and gains the services of a dirt Queen in Tash Faithfull. It’s a Saturday afternoon treat watching those two go head to head in what could easily come down to a tactical battle through the middle stages. THE TOP BAR is racing consistently well and coming back in trip helps him. BONDI QUEEN bolted in her maiden and then never travelled a yard last start.

Race 5

WHATS THE POINT has gone two from two in the region and is thriving on the dirt. He had to cut back through traffic last start and it’s pretty rare to see horses win in that manner at Broome. Interesting race selection from Rob Rulberti – going from 1100 to 1200 and now all the way out to 1780 in one step. The option was there to run him in the 1435 but maybe they didn’t want to run him from barrier 1? Regardless, trust the process and hope that he can run them down again. LUCKY LANDING is a nice test for him, he won well last start at 1615 in this grade and they stopped the clock 4L faster than average. Big chance the money comes for him. MAGNABURMA can give plenty of cheek rolling to the top. CAPRICORN MAN is trying hard.

Race 6

KINGS CALL won in this grade first-up and second-up before contesting 2x 70+ races. In the first of them finished second to inform stablemate Housewife. Not sure what went wrong last start but back in grade, back in trip and drawn to get the run of the race. Did mix form a bit last season and then bounced straight back, so no surprise to see history repeat. GREAT EDITION has only had one start in Broome for the season and that was 8 weeks ago in a 58+ 1435 where he led and won in cracking time. He’s obvious had a setback, but he did go into last start off 45 days so you know he can produce fresh. Market will likely either say ‘yes please’ or ‘no thanks’. Big watch. BIG SHOTS isn’t an easy horse to catch with his racing pattern but he’s been attacking the line all season. CABLE BOY sneaks back in grade and has a set of blinkers on for the first time in over 2.5 years.

Race 7

PHAROAH SHOW announced himself as the horse to beat in the 2026 Broome Cup with his dominant last start win at 1780m. He lumped 60.5kg, he jumped awkwardly and found himself back rearwards and simply outstayed his 58+ rivals to put them away extremely impressively. He’s an American Pharoah (USA) so no surprise to see him thrive in the dirt and expect he’ll take beating here. LETSDEAL looks to be hitting form at the right time of the season. He’s handling dirt racing well and will only get better the further they go. VEVINSKY couldn’t lead last week. Different horse in front. FORTUNES LUCK has now led and won at 1780 and at 2070. Last start winner dropping 5.5kg to the min and if she can cross Vevinsky early then she’ll lead.
