Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on December 2, 2020December 2, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GUARDED ran some really nice races as a 2 year old and early season 3 year old. Recent trial was good, without blinkers, and from the inside gate Brad Parnham can hold up in front or elect to take the sit leader’s back. From either position he should be hard to beat. PRIZE PURSUIT comes from what could be a very strong trial reference. Looked to be a few handy types in that trial. ANOSHAR never got a crack at them at trials and looked to be travelling well. SAFE REST was a quiet trial under Boy Hill. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – GUARDED WIN RACE 2 TWENTY EIGHT ROCK is getting closer and closer and in a maiden where they’ve all had their fair share of chances (outside Lenglens Choice & Onlyonweekends) she looks as good a chance as any of them to break through. Very honest and consistent. NICK OF TIME has come back well for Greg Evans and it looks only a matter of time before he wins one of these weak 2200m maidens. BRUNY ISLAND ran out of his skin last start and the blinkers go on. Looks ready to break through. HINCHINMOSE up sharply in trip but has the best staying rider engaged. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – TWENTY EIGHT ROCK WIN RACE 3 NOBLE SCOT was an impressive trial recently when allowed to roll by Pateman. Expecting from the wide gate that he will adopt similar tactics in an attempt to cross to the fence or find the breeze. If he can get across without burning too much fuel looks a great chance first-up. SIXTYFOURTH STREET is the full sister to Elite Street. Clearly she’ll be worth a quid in time as a broodmare but can still win a race or two in her career. BAYZEL wasn’t a bad effort last start and draws ideally. DOMINEER trialled particularly well and the Parnham’s (all of them) have been in form for months. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – NOBLE SCOT WIN RACE 4 SCANDOLO is the kind of horse who has been very patiently handled either by design or through niggles by astute trainer Simon Barrass. Loved the recent trial when sitting just off the speed and letting down powerfully to score. Should hold a spot from the draw and this is a nice race for him. SHOCK RESULT was scratched from a Saturday 3yo SWP race to be saved for this much easier C1 race. Jump, run, hard to catch. LONDON MISS has returned to racing well. PLAYING RED is becoming frustrating. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SCANDOLO WIN RACE 5 ISPODA is so brilliantly placed into maiden company by Ash Maley. First8- last preparation ran third (deadheat) behind Dad’s Bigheaded, Sunset Cruise and Kallaroo. Ran fourth to Kallaroo, Holy Enchantment and Convalesce two runs later, then hit races containing Snickerdoodledandy, Queen Brown, Chix Chatter and the like. This is 5L weaker than anything he has seen. Keen. TREVERN is going well but doesn’t seem to know how and when to accelerate. Will be winning races when the penny drops. RIP AND SNIP and PRAIRIE ANGEL can both run races here with luck in running. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – ISPODA WIN RACE 6 DOOWAHDIDDY is double nominated for Wednesday at Bunbury and Thursday at Northam. Looking at the opposition you would think that Martin Allan may elect to go for this race. Is drawn ideally in both but this field doesn’t contain Testing Love. Knocking on the door for months and it should finally open here. OCEAN CANDY was a good effort last start and is finally starting to race tractably. SUN CHACEN showed above average ability when last in work and Brendon Fitzgerald can get them going fresh. PORT BEACH was a nice couple of trials. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – DOOWAHDIDDY WIN RACE 7 WEAPONSON arguably should have beaten Elite Street first-up last campaign. Loomed the winner before dipping at the infamous Belmont 150m mark. Then ran into the talented and wayward Excellent Dream second-up in a high rating C3, second to Eeyore Wayz third-up now looks super form and then second to This’ll Testya in a Saturday 60+. Any of those runs would make him awfully hard to beat here. AMELIA BEDELIA was nailed on the post by Agent Jay first-up. Agent Jay has since won again and she looks hard to beat. SEMIGEL has hit some form again and looks a get back 1000m sprinter. PRIM AND PROPER well placed into this grade. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – WEAPONSON WIN RACE 8 DAD’S BIGHEADED was 100-1 after the first few races were run at Ascot last meeting. The leaders were dominating and he was drawn wide and is a natural mid/back marker. This should be a far more suitable assignment for him, blinkers go on for the first time and he draws a better gate. Looks hard to beat. INDOMINIUS was a super run first-up for a horse who ran 7th on paper. The inside was quicksand, he was held up and then ran through the line with gusto. Keep safe. TRUMP THIS is hard to catch but well placed in this grade. READY TO RIDE only won a weak maiden but did so in style Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet – DAD’S BIGHEADED WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4 1,7,8,12 1,2,3,9 2,3,6 Market Market
