Wayne’s Preview – Scorchers vs Sixers Posted on December 22, 2017December 22, 2017 | Posted by Wayne Clark The Scorchers begin their BBL defence with plenty of challengers due to injuries and player unavailability. Only nine of the current squad are available for selection, with their batting line up looking very different from last year’s final. No Bancroft, S Marsh, Whiteman, Bell and Klinger – what a challenge! However, Cartwright, Turner, Willey and Voges are players with the ability of stepping up, and if they are able to post a competitive score, there will still be confidence that their bowling attack can protect it. No Behrendorf, Coutler-Nile or Paris but Tye, Johnson, Willey, Richardson and Agar can still get the job done. The Sixers let their first game slip with some poor bowling in the latter stages of the game. I’m sure Abbott, Botha and Bollinger will all improve after disappointing performances. Debutant Daniel Sams was sensational early and again will cause problems to a depleted Scorchers top order. Nic Maddinson showed glimpses of brilliance but needs to be able to finish the job off if the Sixers want to post a winning score. They have the talent with Roy, Hughes and Henriques who are all capable of big scores. In a competitive game, I am giving the edge to the home team.
