Wayne’s Preview – Scorchers vs Heat Posted on January 10, 2017June 7, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Wednesday January 11, 2017 The Scorchers were left licking their wounds after a demolition job by the Heat last Thursday, but they quickly get the opportunity to redeem themselves! The Scorchers bowlers had absolutely no answer to the onslaught from Lynn & McCullum and I’m sure the message from the coaching staff will be “forget about it – they had a day out!” Of course there will be no Lynn this game, so more pressure will be on McCullum & Pierson. An early wicket or two will be the aim of Johnson, Bresnan and Richardson. The depth of the Heat batting needs to be tested. Andrew Tye again will be a key for the Scorchers; as will the performance of spinners Agar and Turner. Shaun Marsh’s form has been a concern and he needs to be more positive in those opening six overs. Klinger is the man to bat deep. Interest will be on how Hilton Cartwright will be used. He is an x-factor and needs to be in early. Playing at the Gabba shouldn’t disadvantage the Scorchers but someone has to go big! I’m going to stick with the Scorchers, mainly because of the loss of the “Lynn factor”, and that I’m expecting more from the Scorchers batsmen.
