Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 9, 2026April 10, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 WISHING BELLE (2) has the draw and early speed to push to the lead and then from there it appears to be game over, she conquered D Mac two starts ago and looks to take another big scalp in IDEAL BEACH (5) who returns and was an outstanding 2yo for Justin Prentice, difficult task first up to run into the brilliant filly but expect him to run into a top 3 position here. IM CATEGORY FIVE (3) was solid last time out and has good early speed to race handy. CRUNCHNSIP (1) is a novelty chance with TRIXIE DORA (10) and EL RAES GIRL (4). Tips: 2 5 3 1 Suggested Bet: WISHING BELLE/IDEAL BEACH to Exacta. Race 2 DELIGHTFUL PEG (4) is taking all before her since coming to WA, defeated FAKENIT (5) and Penny Black in her most recent run and comes in here with the draw advantage and looks tough to beat again. FAKENIT (5) will improve off the first up effort and would’ve lost no admirers, expect her to be in the firing line again. AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (9) returns from the wide gate and is all class, whatever she does tonight will tighten her up nicely for the Empress Stakes next week. COPY CAT QUEEN (8) falls under the same bracket of draw, return and feature next week but she also needs tempo on to bring her into the race. Novelty chances to SISTER CHERIE (1), RUBY LOVERA (3), MADAM PUBLISHER (6) and STARLIGHT DREAM (10). Tips: 4 5 9 6 Suggested Bet: DELIGHTFUL PEG (4) to win. Race 3 Good race this one but I’ve loved the return of RUNKLE CRUNCH (8) who has been very impressive in both of his runs and fought on bravely behind Mad Monday last time out, think he will have to do some work again but looks hard to hold out. Could be a little bit happening in the early stages here with RAKLOU (1) beaten when leading last time out but should be better and looking for a forward position. LINCOLN LOU (3) could use his early speed to try and get to the top and then has options, his high speed is his main asset. COMO EL VIENTO (4) is racing well and could head forward to be in a prominent position early. IM LIGHTNING BANNER (6) might have a look with his early speed also as he hasn’t had much luck since returning. LINCOLN RIVER (11) is a solid swoopers chance if they go a bit silly early and that is a chance to happen. Tips: 8 11 3 4 Suggested Bet: RUNKLE CRUNCH (8) to win. Race 4 LAZI DAIS (6) I think is a major chance of zapping this front line and the with the way he is going now, how do you go past him? very hard to beat. CAPTAIN STIRLING (3) is a classy type, but his early speed is a query here and may have to rely on his toughness which he has plenty of. MAJOR MIKI WHITBY (1) has always been a horse I have plenty of time for, he has the good draw on return and might need the run but can be placed into your novelties. BELLY UP (5) faces a tricky draw but has come soundly. MENEMSHA (12) needs some tempo on but is a high classed pacer and respect should be shown to THELITTLE MASTER (7) who will appreciate being back in the mobile but will need luck from the draw with ALTA TRIBUTE (8). Tips: 6 3 12 1 Suggested Bet: LAZI DAIS (6) to win. Race 5 MAGNIFICENT STORM (8) will go around at the short odds and should get the cash again, he has come back in terrific order and looks the winner 7 days out from the Nullarbor. MIGHTY RONALDO (11) is the proven free for all type and is showing more depth and toughness in his older age, expect him to be in the money. HUGOTASTIC (4) last two runs have been more like what we must come to expect, similar run here and he will hit the podium. Novelty chances to FRANCO ENCORE (1), TUALOU (2) and OTIS (12). Tips: 8 11 4 1 Suggested Bet: 8/4,11/4,11 to Trifecta Race 6 A LITTLE SILENCE (11) was something beaten last time out and has the draw to be just off them and watch things unfold, he was badly held up before exploding to the line and just missing, expect him to be hard to beat. HUNGER STRIKE (5) has the draw advantage over some of the main rivals and she’s been racing the best mares, expecting her to run a good race here. LUVBITE (7) proved he could do the work and get a win last time out but may have to drive like that again. OPAL HUNTER (6) might need the run against this lot to tighten him up. BLAMEITONTHENIGHT (1) is a novelty chance with BLUE BLAZER (2) and MY SILVER SPOON (12). Tips: 11 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: A LITTLE SILENCE (11) to win. Race 7 TRUE GRIT (3) looks the likely leader here and has been racing well, absorbed pressure against a stronger lineup last time out and weakened but looks better suited here. SUGAR STREET (12) is going well enough to win but needs a bit of luck, price could be right to have a wager and addition of Gary Hall Jnr is nothing to ignore. ART IDEAL (9) must overcome a wide draw, and the map looks a little tricky for him, but he is racing well. LORD PUBLUSHER (11) hit the line full of running last time out and is ready to win. MYSTA MOON WALKER (10) might need the run but will get a soft trip here. THE WHIZZER (1) is a novelty chance with BET ON THE RIVER (5) and ARUM (8). Tips: 3 12 11 9 Suggested Bet: TRUE GRIT (3) to win. Race 8 ROX THE WORLD (11) should dominate here, he was a brilliant run in defeat last time out and this looks more suitable again, but he will be heavily favoured in the market. BEAUDIENE HUNTER (12) is a talented type who won well first up but still looked a little uneasy at certain points, is a genuine top 2 chance in this. MINOR CATASTROPHE (4) has very good early speed and thought she was a chance to zap them at the start and then has options, strong place chance. DIAMOND WORLD (2) is in the same boat, needs to get around them and can be a novelty chance with ALEXANDRA THEGREAT (1) and FRANCO MECCA (10). Tips: 11 12 4 2 Suggested Bet: MINOR CATASTROPHE (4) to place. Race 9 Competitive trotters event. ALDEBARAN BOYD (7) has a lot of upside and could be seen as the most progressive trotter in this field, that’ll be enough to put him on top here. PATCHED (9) has been there done that, he normally steps away quickly and can make up the handicap and his last two have been a lot better. MISS FRANCENE (1) could run a bold race with a safe getaway and same story for BEE BEE BEROC (2). LINE THE STARZZZ (6) and CHUMANI (8) both capable and are consistently around the mark. Tips: 7 9 1 6 Suggested Bet: ALDEBARAN BOYD (7) to win. Race 10 WAVE REBELLION (10) returns and looks well placed by Stuart McDonald, she was a winner in 1.54.4 at the mile and 1.55.2 at the middle distance as a 3yo filly and looks hard to beat in this. JACKIE DANIELS (5) didn’t have a lot of racing room in the concluding stages of the Race for Roses last week, but she has been racing well and looks the testing material, could potentially lead. MISS UNEEK (8) is racing well but faces a challenging draw. FUNKY MUSIC (9) is racing soundly but faces a tough draw and looks more of a novelty chance. Tips: 10 5 8 9 Suggested Bet: WAVE REBELLION (10) to win. Market Market
