Michael Heaton’s Saturday Narrogin Preview Posted on April 9, 2026April 9, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 PRECAST looks ready to win one. The 7YO mare hit the line well to be beaten narrowly at York 2 and 3 starts back and she ran fourth to city type Masamune in a C5 on Monday. She now drops back into a 46+ and the only time she’s ever backed up off 7 days or less she won. I’M EUGENE hasn’t won for more than 46 months but has returned to form at his last couple and now meets Classic Royale and Precast 4.5kg and 2.5kg better at the weights for beating them home at their last encounter. THREE GRAND has been tried at all distances and grades this prep to try get her back into form. She looks the likely leader and would be hard to beat at her best. CLASSIC ROYALE is still a maiden but has been getting close to breaking through. Numbers: 3-6-1-4 Suggested Bet – PRECAST WIN RACE 2 RODNEY OH RODNEY had no luck from wide draws at his first 2 starts back then dominated a C1 1000m event at Ascot on Good Friday. He led and stopped the clock 6 lengths above class average despite hanging badly around the bend and he now finds an easier country 46+ assignment where he can find the front again. Hard to beat if the same horse turns up. SOMETHING ROYAL trialled up nicely for the new yard and looks the danger. She can box seat on Rodney Oh Rodney’s back and Chanel Cooper has won aboard her before. QUICK AS SILVER gets 7.5kg on Rodney Oh Rodney for finishing only 2L off him at York last month. PLAYFUL STAR resumes and will be doing her best work late. Numbers: 5-2-3-6 Suggested Bet – RODNEY OH RODNEY WIN RACE 3 ARTIE’S ECLIPSE looks hard to beat. She’s been around the mark in metropolitan events that are lengths superior to this and she has the natural speed to work across from her awkward draw to either lead or breeze. Nice race for her. LONGTIMEBELIEVER has been freshened since her disappointing last start at Albany but was knocking on the door prior to that and she should enjoy the run of the race. AREDUET resumes first up, no trial and is a 15-start maiden but she ran 4 city placings as a 2YO and 3YO in 2024 which is exceptional form for this. FLICK’N’RUBIES went around at $51 at York on Monday but made big late ground and now gets a much better gate and blinkers for the first time. Numbers: 4-5-1-9 Suggested Bet – ARTIE’S ECLIPSE WIN RACE 4 PRETEY ROYAL is a 25-start maiden but her last 2 starts have been encouraging. She’s made good late ground and now drops 2.5 to just 525.kg after Sharni Webster’s claim so this looks her best chance yet to break through. HUNDRED YARDS has placed at 2 of his past 2 starts and should get the right run parked just off the speed. LOVE OF FAR FA was well beaten first up but can be an improver up in trip and back on trop of the ground. INFRASTRUCTURE gets blinkers on for the first time and can work his way to the top to give some cheek at a price. Numbers: 9-3-4-1 Suggested Bet – PRETEY ROYAL WIN RACE 5 MAGIC WHISTLE joins the yard of Leigh Murray and is a massive class dropper. His last 14 starts have been in Saturday city grade, including Graduation 60+ and 66+ wins, and he now finds himself in a country 52+ which is the lowest grade of his career. He should be able to bounce to the lead in a race devoid of much speed and give them something to catch. WAYNE THE PAYNE is in career-best form and will be steaming home at the finish. ABBOU was beaten only a half-length by Gage Roads/Starating/Mangifera at Pinjarra last start and can park up outside the leader. SNIP OF GOSSIP has been plain lately but maps better now and goes well at Narrogin. Numbers: 1-2-4-5 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WHISTLE WIN RACE 6 GOOD VIBES ticks some boxes. She’s finished in the money at each of her past 8 starts, has never missed the money from 6 starts at Narrogin, drops in grade from a third placing to city type Masamune at York on Monday and has backed up off a 5-day turnaround once previously for a narrow second. IMAPAGETHREE GIRL always figures prominently in stewards’ reports and was unlucky again at Kalgoorlie last start when getting held up on straightening then charging home into second. PRETTY DEVINE drops 3kg from her run on Monday and looks the likely leader. SPEED BUBBLE resumes and loves Narrogin but isn’t usually a fresh horse and will likely get back with 61.5kg. Numbers: 4-5-1-2 Suggested Bet – GOOD VIBES WIN RACE 7 OUTSPOKEN LAD will find this is a lot easier than last Sunday’s Albany Cup where he was beaten only 3L by True Player and Rocking Society. He’s won both the Carnarvon Cup and Esperance Cup this season, is better suited dropping back to 1900m and gets a nice race shape where he can park just off the expected solid tempo set by What A Prince/Uni Queen/Decoration. SOWAR is 49 days between runs and won the Walkaway Cup at Geraldton off 48 days in December. He’s another one who should get a run to suit. DECORATION can roll forward to settle on-pace but is likely to have to burn the candle at both ends with the speed drawn inside of him. WHAT A PRINCE also drops out of the Albany Cup. He looks the likely leader and carries 7.5kg less than the 62.5kg he bolted in with the last time he raced over 1900m. Numbers: 2-1-4-11 Suggested Bet – OUTSPOKEN LAD WIN RACE 8 TAK GOES BOOM had been racing well in far stronger company then dropped in grade at York on Monday and broke through. She now rises only a half-kilo and each of her 4 career wins have come at either York or Narrogin (including one at this track/distance) so she can go back to back. BELLA VIOLETTA is off 6 days after finishing second at Albany on Sunday and her only career win to date came off a quick back up. Just needs some luck from a sticky draw and map. QUEEN NARDI has looked a length or 2 off her best but still hasn’t been far away lately. MAGIC MIKEY should get the run of the race and has placed at 3 of his 4 Narrogin starts. Numbers: 6-7-5-3 Suggested Bet – TAK GOES BOOM WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,5 1,4,5 1,2,4,11 3,5,6,7 192 combinations Market Market
