Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on April 9, 2026April 9, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Moderate speed. HOUSE OF LORDS is a lightly-raced and well-bred mare who can improve further third-up rising to 2000m after a good ride/win at Sandown last start. Ideal draw to be winning again. JARETH looks the danger coming out of a strong BM84 at Flemington, down in grade, forecast wet weather may work against him. BLUESTONE scratched from a firm track last Saturday, conditions more favourable. MR BANNOCK could take up the running from a soft draw. Selections: 5,4,3,11 Suggested Bet: HOUSE OF LORDS each way RACE 2 Good speed expected with key runners drawn wide. KA YING CHEER is on the rise and well-placed to repeat his effort here last start, more speed should only increase his chances. GREATHAM BOY is having a fine preparation and maps perfectly from the low draw to continue his winning ways. BOLTSAVER is a blowout chance if we get plenty of rain, liked his recent jumpout and the speed engaged suits his strong finish. HE’LL RIP may need the run fresh, he maps to figure if fit enough. Selections: 2,3,13,1 Suggested Bet: KA YING CHEER win RACE 3 Prepared to back in the Sydney visitor to roll the locals with DRUMFIRE lining up for Waterhouse & Bott and Mark Zahra engaged, on-speed and hard to beat. BUGGSY was backed to the exclusion of all others and put a weak field away at Sandown. He can race forward and doubt this is much stronger. OAK LIGHTNING pick of the debutantes, showing good ability at the jumpouts, watch for any betting moves. GIN TWIST was a market drifter and over-raced for the 1200m at Flem, around a bend helps. Selections: 2,1,4,6 Suggested Bet: DRUMFIRE win RACE 4 Even bunch. TEN WARRIORS has been back to the jumpouts after breaking through for an overdue maiden win, he can take confidence and again finds a race to be competitive. CAVALRY SCOUT can be effective if left alone in front, drawn out, has the speed to cross and lead comfortably. SILVER LIGHTNING will appreciate a senior rider aboard after a solid effort at Ballarat last start, may need further now and HOT SAND another worth including. Selections: 1,10,6,4 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 5 Lovely race for the consistent XARPO backing up after chasing a good tempo last start in higher grade, loves this course and will put herself in another winning position leaders back from the draw. GELHORN struck a heavy track first-up and plugged, capable of sharp improvement, inner draw a bonus. GOLD COAST BELLE found her right race last start, this is harder again. And BUTTERNUT PRINCESS can reel off some good splits, needs luck from the draw. Selections: 3,9,13,2 Suggested Bet: XARPO win RACE 6 Smallish field and not much speed around. FERIVIA may take it up, PONDALOWIE has switched her pattern around but could go forward to lead if asked to do it and Mark Zahra is the one to get her going. MOTORSPORTS was specked at odds first-up behind Point Barrow and was just fair. She drops in weight and is effective on wet ground. Liked the recent jumpout of JAZZ AFFAIR, generally takes a run to show her best. Open race, many chances. Selections: 3,4,8,9 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 7 Tricky race, many angles and plenty on trial at the distance. SINGLE CHOICE comes through the Alister Clark which is the key form line, he found the line ok but doesn’t scream 2500? May settle closer to see it out. DAD AND DAVE is dour, he should run out the trip no problem, ROYAL OPTIMISM bolted in a Geelong maiden over the staying trip, bred to eat it up, soft track no concerns. ARABIAN PRINCE and AMAZAKE both have winning claims. Wide in the quaddie. Selections: 1,2,11,6 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 8 Good race. AL DUCA and TAKEN are the key form reference having raced each other over 1600m at Flemington last start. Very little separating either, both drawn out and both go forward, this may give the two in-form mares ASTRAL FLAME the likely leader and MERRIGOLD who maps in behind the speed the chance to beat them. ON DISPLAY is also nominated for Morphettville/Saturday, she would take beating also if taking her place from a prime draw. Hard to entertain any others. Selections: 13,8,12,9 Suggested Bet: ASTRAL FLAME each way RACE 9 OLIVEANOTHERDAY is very well-placed against his own age in this event and has shown he can settle handy to use the inside draw midfield and enjoying a soft run, just needs luck getting off heels in the straight. BURMA STAR will be licking his lips at the forecast, solid effort fresh and gets a nice draw second-up. REGENERATION returned with a forward showing at Caulfield last start, also nominated for Morphettville/Saturday. BACASH has brilliant gate speed and should lead. Selections: 6,3,5,1 Suggested Bet: OLIVEANOTHERDAY win RACE 10 Big field, speed map is unclear and moderate tempo at best. Ciaron Maher unveils two English imports in KING OF THE SEA and ZAIN BLUE who hold the key to the race and bear close market attention. TRAPDOOR is my pick of what we know, unlucky not to win fresh then bolted in second-up with blinkers on at Sandown. Perfect draw to repeat. NOBLER was backed at a price first-up and ran up to his excellent Flem jumpout, he’s placed to be in the mix again. Wary of CASH carried a spruik throughout his career, also nominated Morphettville/Saturday. Selections: 14,17,2,3 Suggested Bet: Exotics Market Market
