Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on June 30, 2023June 30, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 EXTREME SPIRIT worked through the line impressively under light riding in a recent trial and looks in good shape to kick off his second preparation. The first starters, YERONGA SONGBIRD and STELLAR OLYMPUS, have both jumped out well, to my eye Yeronga Songbird looked the sharper of the two. EUGENIUS has jumped out nicely to resume. Selections: 1,6,4,5 Suggested Bet: Happy to look and learn Race 2 PACIFIC RUBY is building a great record and should relish the step up to 1400m, back against the girls she looks the one to beat. SEONEE is racing in terrific form and seems to appreciate being kept around 1200-1400m. SHE’S PRETTY RICH stays down in the weights and although she rises in grade the form around her is strong. Selections: 2,1,10,3 Suggested Bet: Pacific Ruby to win Race 3 STEPARTY gives every indication he will cope with 1600m and appears to have a significant class edge over his rivals. SUNSOURCE has been building fitness chasing Steparty and shapes as though he will appreciate this trip. LINE ‘EM UP LOUI and ACIERTO both looked good winning their last starts but would need to improve significantly to match it with Steparty, despite the weight advantage. Selections: 1,3,2,4 Suggested Bet: Steparty to win but will be short Race 4 TEEWATERS should be at peak fitness now and maps to get every chance from the inside draw. MIMI’S AWARD won well here two starts back and was trapped in inferior ground last start. ROLLS gave a great sight last time in a race that ties a lot of this form together. PORT GUILLAME was the long odds winner of that race and taking that performance on face value, in combinattion with his early interntional form, has to be included. Selections: 6,9,2,5 Suggested Bet: Teewaters each way Race 5 Competitive race. LEGIO TEN might need some luck from a low draw, but he has impressed at his two runs as a gelding and has been kept up to the mark with a solid jumpout between runs. RENOSU has strong claims, he had no luck over the concluding stages down the straight last time and was able to gain second place on protest. CAUSE FOR CONCERN has upside, his win with the blinkers applied last start was impressive. EXTRATWO is another with upside and looks capable of measuring up to the rise in grade. Selections: 5,3,4,12 Suggested Bet: Legio Ten each way Race 6 VERIFIER justified Nigel Blackiston’s faith in him by breaking his maiden in a key lead up race and gives every indication he will cope with the rise to 2500m. MY BROTHERS KEEPER appears to be looking for this trip and has been racing well right through the series. FIRST IMMORTAL gets up in the weights but should get a soft run from the draw. WHAKAMANA looked good winning last start following her Group 3 placing. GEORGEOUS ZARA did a good job to score narrowly last time and is some new blood. Selections: 5,4,1,6 Suggested Bet: Verifier each way Race 7 NICOLINI VITO has a good first up record and seems to be jumping out as well as ever leading into another campaign. SIGH has continued to build on her already good record this preparation, she loves the straight track and can measure up to this tougher assignment. IT’SOURTIME is another that races well down the straight and should appreciate coming back to 1200m. ZETHUS is a talented sprinter, he’s had a tick over trial since his last run and should get his chance from the draw. Selections: 4,7,3,2 Suggested Bet: Nicolini Vito each way Race 8 CHARTERHOUSE caught the eye at his first Australian run and looks suited by the step up to 1600m. JIMMY THE BEAR gets blinkers first time and should be ready to peak for this race. UNUSUAL CULTURE is racing in great form, she got the right run last time but is drawn to advantage again. KING MAGNUS has had a gap between runs and meets a few at a weight disadvantage for his last start, but still looks one of the key hopes. Selections: 3,7,12,1 Suggested Bet: Charterhouse each way Race 9 The lightly raced GOLDEN PATH measured up well in a heat of this series last start and should strip even fitter. He gets a weight advantage over HARD TO CROSS, who shapes as one of the main hopes again. BRUNG KING has been sprinting well to win at 1400m, he’s had a 1000m jumpout between runs and 1600m appears within his scope. HELLFIRE hit the line strongly behind Brung King last time and shapes as through he will appreciate 1600m. LOUNGE BAR RUBI, LETHAL THOUGHTS and LADY JONES have claims in a deep race. Selections: 9,3,4,12 Suggested Bet: Golden Path to win Market Market
