Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on February 9, 2024February 9, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 FLASH FEELING will better for the run in this distance range and gets a weight swing on INDEPENDENT ROAD, who may prove hard to get past again. BERMADEZ is yet to prove himself at this trip but is racing as though it may suit now. DON’T DOUBT DORY was below his best last start but will strip fitter for that run. Selections: 9,1,2,5 Suggested Bet: Flash Feeling to win Race 2 OCEANIC FLASH ran well when jumping from 1600m to 2520m and is sure to be better for that run. GALILAEUS started a short-priced favourite in the same race and may have been a bit flat second up. CHEVALIER DU FAU improved nicely last start and gets blinkers back on. DIVINE PURPOSE appeared to have her chance last time and may be looking for 2400m now. Selections: 7,10,8,9 Suggested Bet: Oceanic Flash each way Same Race Multi: Oceanic Flash (Top 2) + Galilaeus (Top 4) Race 3 ANOTHER WILL appears destined for better races, he may need some luck from the draw but his upside is hard to overlook. ZAMBORGHINI has been kept fresh since a luckless run last start. He’s had a quiet jumpout between runs and should’ve retained plenty of residual fitness. TOOGOODFORTOORAK is progressing well and should be approaching his peak. Selections: 9,4,7,1 Suggested Bet: Another Wil to win Race 4 SOUTHPORT TYCOON was arguably unlucky at G2 WFA last start and looks well placed stepping up to 1400m and reverting back to his own age group. CARBONADOS pulled up with a degree of lameness last start. He has a tongue tie applied and is capable of bouncing back if his previous runs are his true form. HEY FAT CAT has been running good times winning in lower grade and has improved significantly since his only test at 1400m to date. SNOW PATROL was luckless when he met Southport Tycoon and has jumped out well to resume. Selections: 4,2,5,7 Suggested Bet: Southport Tycoon to win Race 5 YOUNG WERTHER is one that is favoured by the set weights and penalties conditions and has trialled well to resume. YONCE will strip fitter third up and the step up to 1600m looks suitable. FOXY CLEOPATRA has been freshened since finding it too wet at Ballarat. Her previous two runs following a lengthy break were most encouraging and she was given a solid hit out in a recent jumpout. LOFT is a talented stayer resuming from an injury enforced layoff and has been trialling well. Selections: 1,4,6,2 Suggested Bet: Young Werther to win Race 6 Good race. BODYGUARD looked most professional winning on debut and the form out of his recent trials reads well through Fearless. HIGH OCTANE looked open to improvement from his debut win in the Preview and the step up to 1100m seems suitable. STAY FOCUSED sustained a strong gallop to win in debut and has jumped out well to kick off his second prep. HOLMES A COURT wasn’t that inferior to his stablemate High Octane on debut and is also open to improvement. Selections: 3,1,4,5 Suggested Bet: Bodyguard to win Race 7 Competitive race. BOLD BASTILLE impressed defeating HAYASUGI on debut over 1000m and has jumped out well to resume. Hayasugi appears to have improved during her break and has the fitness benefit of her win in the Preview. MATISSE will need some luck from the draw but chased well behind Hayasugi on debut and will appreciate the extra 100m. FLATTERED chased well behind Eneeza on debut and has trialled nicely recently. IN HER EYES has jumped out well since her encouraging debut. Selections: 1,2,8,5 Suggested Bet: Numbers 1,2,8,5 & 7 for the quaddie Race 8 ASFOORA is a top class sprinter. She flies around here, has jumped out well to resume and isn’t badly treated by the set weights and penalties conditions. VIVIANE also race well here. She lacks the class of Asfoora but appeared to be at her speedy best in a recent jumpout. ZAPATEO probably should’ve beaten Asfoora at Flemington earlier in their careers and has trialled well to resume. HYPOTHETICAL and REY MAGNERIO have some claims. Selections: 4,15,5,14 Suggested Bet: Asfoora to win Race 9 MR BRIGHTSIDE has proven himself among our elite WFA gallopers in this distance range and although he will no doubt improve with the run looks the one to beat. PERICLES has trialled well to resume and should appreciate a solid tempo through PRIDE OF JENNI, who has jumped out quite well, and BUFFALO RIVER. VEIGHT beat a handy field at G2 WFA last start and although this is tougher is open to further improvement. ATISHU will be closing late and is a potential blowout chance. Selections: 1,2,8,9 Suggested Bet: Mr Brightside to win Race 10 Competitive finish. BLANC DE BLANC has some strong form lines through the likes of Shinzo and has trialled well to resume. ESTRIELLA will need some luck from the draw but is lightly raced with plenty of upside and has jumped out nicely. EXPLORING was well below her best first up but looked sharp in a subsequent trial and is capapble of dramtic improvement. MOESHA is another lightly raced filly with upside that has jumped out well to resume. AMOURISSA won on debut in the style of a horse that can measure up to this grade. Selections: 7,8,2,11 Suggested Bet: Leaning Blanc De Blanc in a tough race Market Market
