The Ascot Feature Rankings Posted on November 18, 2020 | Posted by Digby Beacham WA Guineas – Nov 21 1 – DOM TO SHOOT His figures in the Fairetha Stakes were outstanding. The barrier is awkward, but a good Paul Harvey ride could be the difference. 2 – WESTERN EMPIRE Still not assured of a start, but his two career runs to date have been terrific. Live hope if there is a scratching. 3 – FIRST LAW Fairetha Stakes placegetter. Has the gate speed to take up a prominent spot. Is progressive and gets the addition of blinkers. 4 – GEMMA’S SON There was nothing wrong with his run in the Lee-Steere Stakes. Barrier makes it difficult. 5 – WATCH ME DANCE WA Champion Fillies Stakes winner who has come up with a perfect draw after her fighting victory last weekend. Railway Stakes – Nov 21 1 – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL Everything is pointing in her direction. Can she emulate Galaxy Star from two years ago. I think so. 2 – KAY CEE Has to carry 56kg, but is arguably the best horse in the race. Proven at WFA. Will be powering home late. 3 – TOO CLOSE THE SUN Hard not to be impressed with his two runs this time in. Will be on speed and can burn the candle at both ends. 4 – PLATOON Brad Parnham will need luck from the draw, but the gelding is going better than 12 months ago when third in this race. 5 – KEMENTARI Will be put to sleep by Chris Parnham from low draw. Knockout hope. Winterbottom Stakes – Dec 28 1 – TREKKING Was relaxing in his box last weekend when many of his rivals were ploughing through the slop. 2 – STAGEMAN Caught the eye again in the Colonel Reeves Stakes. The 1200m of the Winterbottom is ideal. 3 – INDIAN PACIFIC Lightly raced, the demanding Colonel Reeves run should bring him on further. Can win with a low draw. 4 – VALOUR ROAD High-class galloper. Coped with his tough run last weekend in style. 5 – ELITE STREET Brings genuine X-factor to this feature provided he gets a run. Kingston Town Classic – Dec 5 1 – KAY CEE Took an enormous step forward in the Lee-Steere. Her Railway run will have a large bearing on the market. 2 – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL Yet to be exposed to WFA level, but it is hard to see why she won’t measure up. 3 – SNICKERDOODLEDANDY Not ready to abandon ship despite her unplaced run in the WA Champion Fillies Stakes. 4 – GAILO CHOP Loved his 1450m Lark Hill trial on Monday. The Railway will be perfect preparation. 5 – TOO CLOSE THE SUN Getting better and better all the time. Dominant Ascot Gold Cup winner over the trip. Perth Cup – Jan 2 1 – TRULY GREAT Three for three this time in after his Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes success. Just a flat-out good horse. 2 – NEUFBOSC Neville Parnham has this fellow ticking over beautifully. Increased distances will be ideal. 3 – MISSILE LAUNCH Starts his build with a Railway outing on the weekend. 4 – TAXAGANO His Northerly win was a shock. His two runs since have been very sound. 5 – TOO CLOSE THE SUN Has the potential to have his rivals off the bridle a long way from home.
