Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on July 15, 2025July 15, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NEW YORK SKIE looks the logic in the first (if there’s such a thing in staying maidens). She led at 1800m and gave cheek before being run down by Sweet Surrender and then she went to a 50+ ratings race last Thursday at Northam when leading over 2200m until being gunned down by Zera Blue. Carries the same weight in a maiden on the 6 day back-up and should be too good. BEGAAFD was an improver last start when settling rearward and grinding away into fourth. Now gets Pike. LAKEVIEW LIGHTNING Is a 19 start maiden but has been alright this prep. SUPER SAIYAN next best. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – NEW YORK SKIE WIN RACE 2 GUARANTOR finished third behind Twisted Steel two back when sitting deep throughout and last Wednesday hit the front and then seemed to switch off when gobbled up by Beau’s A Lad. Backing up off 7 days, winkers on and blinkres off and drawn to get a similar run parked behind the speed. Ready to win one. XENTARO never got into the contest on debut after trialling well over 400m. Promising 1000m trial for his return. LADY MONEY TALK didn’t have a lot of room to move in her recent trial and attacked the line strongly once clear and balanced. RIVA AQUARAMA trialled as well as (if not better than) Memphis Minx. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – GUARANTOR WIN RACE 3 ZOURUN RUN has the race experience on her side and got to the line really strongly behind Buckled at Northam on debut. She’s better suited out to 1100m, she’s drawn slightly better and can hopefully settle a pair closer and she has Chris Parnham riding 54kg midweek. Nice race for her. ARIZONA SKY finished 6th of 9 in his barrier trial beaten 3.2L but was held up the entire and looked to have plenty to offer. Big watch on debut. WHO’S BENT made his debut on a Saturday and went around $8 from an impossible barrier. Must respect. THE CRIMSON PIRATE can follow the fence around and get a soft run. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZOURUN RUN WIN RACE 4 SHIMARI is a throw at the stumps in what looks a high speed, high pressure maiden where something that can park and ride might just get the last crack at them. Didn’t mind the most recent trial when sustain a run from the back and hopefully holds a half decent spot in running at a double figure quote. ZED HOT EXPRESS missed away first-up and spent her tickets to burn through to her eventual settling position. Silent Amarda, Peter Gunn and Enchanted Star are better types than are in this event and the winkers are reinstated. MUZZA’S GIFT and BEYOND THE WALL are both extremely quick and coming off Fibre Sand runs. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SHIMARI EACHWAY RACE 5 GINGER MORPHEUS looks a nice type in the making. He was beaten a head on debut when backed into odds on and then at his second start went around $1.24 when making a mess of his rivals. His last run of the preparation was three deep the trip in a 3 year old Saturday beaten only 2.5L by highly touted youngster Kay Tee Why. Trials have been good, map looks good and he’ll take beating. LIPSTICK JUNGLE ran a ripper first-up behind a sharp 3 year old in Art Session. COUNTESS OF KENNA is drawn awkwardly but has shown plenty and trialled well ahead of her return to racing. In for a good prep. SNIPER’S SON returns to the yard of Metro Brown and this is a good use of the 3kg claim. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – GINGER MORPHEUS WIN RACE 6 DESERT DANCING was a solid WA debut behind Magicash and then descended upon them last start and ran past Art Session in the process. If she can reproduce that same L600 she’ll be charging at them late and it looks a race where they’ll go hard early to suit. NICELY PLAYED won her maiden by 3.6L and then beat Amaroo Star in a 3 year old 0MWLY – that’s really good form for a C3 1000 at Northam. She’s high speed, she’s drawn barrier 1 and she’ll bounce straight on the lead for Chris Parnham. Just has to absorb the pressure. LOST GRAVITY drops back into C3 grade after a string of honest performances in 60+ Graduations. BOAB BOY is an interesting one off 7 days back in trip. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – DESERT DANCING EACHWAY RACE 7 ROMANTIC RULER broke through at start number 20 but it’s amazing how often these types go back to back and the formlines around Opportunistic and even Impressive Jewel (4th in the Belmont Oaks) make it easy to justify at a double figure quote. QUICK COOKIE has been going super in recent months, especially when you consider we’re talking about a filly who was beaten nearly 8L at Albany in late April. Finished second to Showlas (since run an honest race in a Belmont Guineas), third to Ranyx and most recent finished within 1L of Vancouver Storm. WHAT’S THE POINT is up in trip, back in grade and has shades on. OCEAN RANGER a watch fresh. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – ROMANTIC RULER EACHWAY RACE 8 SUPERFLUOUS settled further back than anticipated fresh and left himself too much to do late. Second-up he slides back into a C3 against the older horses and Simon Miller removes the blinkers. They should roll along here at a genuine tempo and hopefully he can park midfield this time around. Going again with him. RAPID ROCK went back first-up, he can lead this and give plenty of cheek. A big class dropper who is 4x Saturday placed. KING HIT finds this lengths easier than the Raconteur or Belmont Guineas. GIRLS DAY OUT has been patience testing for punters, beaten favourite her last three. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SUPERFLUOUS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1 6,10 1,2,3,4,7,8 1,2,3,4,5,7 Market Market
