Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on July 18, 2023July 18, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ESPIRIT GARCON made his debut down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra. He raced greenly and ran around under pressure when finishing a narrow second to Little Strawberry. She has since gone straight to a 60+ Graduation on a Saturday and given it an almighty shake to frank the form. Winkers on, round a bend and looks really talented. Expect punters probably show their hand early. SNIPPY WHICH has caught the eye at trials. Most recent of them he wound up powerfully into second and was looking strong through the line. RAZMAS had excuses on debut. FIRE THE GUARD kept coming after doing it tough at Lark Hill. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – ESPRIT GARCON WIN RACE 2 BONJOY is a talented filly making her way through the grades. With the 3kg claim of Brayden Gaerth they’re able to keep their filly at midweek level for now and she looks to have found another very winnable assignment. There’s no cutaway on Wednesday so she’ll have to navigate traffic at some stage in the home straight. With clear air she’s the one to beat. YARRALEA has come back to racing bigger and better this time in. Fifth run of the campaign so she should be ready to see out the mile. ANCIENT GUIDANCE went close last Wednesday and Ryan Hill’s horses tend to produce on the quick back-up. ALBRIGHT had no luck last week in a messy race. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BONJOY WIN RACE 3 KESHI BOOM and ROCKET JUICE were both really impressive trial winners recently. With the barrier draw going to side up with KESHI BOOM who really attacked the line after weaving a passage through at Lark Hill to score impressively over Extreme Love who she meets here on debut. This looks a really deep 2 year old race with a lot of quality. Expect she’ll run well but very respectful of others. ROCKET JUICE is still a Colt and covered the ground beautifully when getting past Champagne Street at trials. Barrier is a curveball. EXTREME LOVE has finished second in both of her trials and looked sharp in each. KHUTOS is yet to show up on race day. Trials have been excellent. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – KESHI BOOM WIN RACE 4 COSMIC CRUSADER is a son of Maurice out of Cosmic Storm (winner of a Belmont Oaks, Jungle Mist Stakes, Starstruck Classic and La Trice Classic). This week we’ll actually see a rare proliferation of Cerise and White 2 year olds head to the races and from what we’ve seen at the trials he’s forward enough to run a race on debut. This looks the thinner 2-year-old race and he’ll should be finishing hard late. JANNY was given every chance on debut. Far from disgraced and should get a similar run here. LACIE ACE trialled nicely for her return. This is another tricky barrier for Brad Parnham to navigate. ANOTHER STRIKE had no luck on debut when held up and bolting. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – COSMIC CRUSADER EACHWAY RACE 5 BARTIME was completely luckless on debut down the 1000m straight and then emphatic at his second career outing. He has to rise 200m and 3kg here which is historically becoming a big stumbling block for these last start maiden winners. This is a thin race and from the draw he looks to get a wonderful opportunity to go back to back, but it certainly isn’t easy with the additional weight. GOLD KEEPER was only 2.5L off Becalotti last start coming out of maiden grade into C1 company. Think in time that will read up as strong form. VITAL GEM is a swimmer. The more rain the better for him on Wednesday. KING KASHOO has had a few excuses recently. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – BARTIME WIN RACE 6 DIAMOND COMMAND has never seen a Class 1. All 11 outings so far in her short racing career have been in higher grade than this. 60kg is an ask for a 3 year old filly but she’s brilliantly placed by Neville Parnham. Four starts ago finished a head off Bigdayonit in a C3 and even last start she finished 1L off Bonjoy in a 3 year old 0MWLY. This is lengths easier than recent outings. MISS AVA is still a maiden filly yet may well loom as the biggest danger. Solid return to racing and simply can’t get the Magic Millions run out of my head. RESTFUL has her first start for the new stable. Had no blinkers at trials and a junior rider. PENNIES GALORE may be on her limit at 1400? Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIAMOND COMMAND WIN RACE 7 PRAWNS ELEVEN returns to the races as a gelding and has trialled super. He skipped along on a Soft6 at Lark Hill and in blistering time was eased down to win by 5L. First-up last preparation off a similar day spacing he finished second to Supersession in a 60+ Graduation at Pinjarra. Hoping that the gelding can do the trick and we may get to see him work his way through the grades. Excellent placement back into a C3. FLURO NEURO fought hard last start after being flushed out three deep a long way from home. No disgrace in running second to Galactic Storm. BLEECKER STREET is bursting to win a race. I’M ALL MISS improves second-up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PRAWNS ELEVEN WIN RACE 8 GALAXY CAT resumed in a 60+ Graduation when beaten only 2L by Songaa. From that race we’ve seen both Art of Sabrage and Final Authority bounce out and win and Galaxy Cat drops in grade back into a C3. Should get a nice run from the draw and looks one of many chances in a wide open event. BECALOTTI is a highly talented filly. Trialled well, won well at her return and Hang Glider almost knocked off Goddess Of Giving on Saturday to frank the form. Just looks destined to burn the candle at both ends from barrier 16 of 16? BREAD TO FLIRT sneaks back into a midweeker. Big run fresh. SATURN BLACK is always a chance at this level. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet – GALAXY CAT EACHWAY RACE 9 TIN CHOOKS certainly has some X-Factor about him. His maiden win was unbelievable and then his effort in a C3 two starts ago behind Bigdayonit was a ripper from a mile off them. Last start he was thrown in the deep end contesting the Aquanita Stakes. Back in grade, back in distance and reuniting with Austin Galati. Bit to like at odds. EMERALD TRADER simply doesn’t jump. Was better last start but still holds a career record of 10 starts, missed away 8 times. Risky betting proposition. WICKED COOL should stride forward and finds this much easier than last start. MONG KHON has no weight on his back and should get conditions to suit. Keep safe. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – TIN CHOOKS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,4,6 1,4 1,4,8,10,11,12,13,15 1,6,7,8,12,13 Market Market
