Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on January 30, 2024January 30, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BAYEZID was run down in the final stride last week at Belmont Park. He should be A) better suited at Ascot than he was at Belmont, B) better suited dropping 1.5kg, C) get conditions to suit on a hot day, and D) gets a set of shades for the first time in his life. He’s no star, but he’s capable of pinching this on a jump and run mission. ACHICI VUOLEMALE is all X-Factor. He travels brilliantly and he looks to have genuine ability and upside. Not sure where he gets drawn outside of Bayezid and Bisector but he’ll still be popular in betting. THE LADY IS A VAMP can be her own worst enemy as she showed last start when missing the kick. Simply must step. BISECTOR just can’t find a race where she’ll lead without pressure. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BAYEZID WIN RACE 2 BONDI PLUNGE and SAFEKEEPER trialled alongside each other on 8 January over 1000m at Belmont Park and they matched motors up the home straight. BONDI PLUNGE has been nominated, accepted and scratched on two occasions with the stable seemingly looking to find the right race for her. She gets that here and should get the right run from a favourable alley. SAFEKEEPER was up the ‘wrong’ side of the Pinjarra Straight and still fought on bravely behind Sunbronzed who was annihilated in betting before being scratched last Thursday. FIRE THE GUARD was in that same race and finished right alongside her. SECRET STYLE looks a rare jump and run commodity from the Peters Investments operation. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – BONDI PLUNGE WIN RACE 3 SASS MACHINE will look to be simply too brilliant for them first-up over 1000m. Had her first preparation for Dion Luciani and now returns back to Sean & Jake Casey. She’s shown blistering speed in her 2x 400m jump outs and after the claim for noted front running apprentice Madi Derrick she looks extremely well placed and hard to beat. Jump, run, kick and hold on late. LORD SHIVA drops back to 1000m after being run off his legs by Ginnivan over 1100 in a 3 year old Plate last start. Classy type. TAWKIN’ JIBBERISH is drawn outside that pair but does have good early gate speed and now a set of shades. TORPEDOMAN has shown previously that he is capable with a sit. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – SASS MACHINE WIN RACE 4 IF I DIN HAVADIME was a great demonstration of the difference between midweek and Saturday form last start. Two runs ago she won in a deadheat with Art of Consent and got past subsequent winner Tycoon Harry in the process. Last start she went to a Saturday, enjoyed the run of the race and just couldn’t match it with them. Back to midweek company and likely to go round eachway. NORICH has no historical form first-up but his fresh run last campaign on a Saturday wasn’t too bad. MAGNIFICENT CARAT got the splits first-up and won well. CHINA SPIRIT was untested in his trial. Accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – IF I DIN HAVADIME EACHWAY RACE 5 SILVER BACK JACK looks to have found his most suitable assignment of the campaign so far. Happy to follow that Playing Rio form reference with confidence because we’ve already seen Wonder Weapon go well in a 58+ out of that race and the others in the field included Memory Parade/Doctor Jay/Tin Chooks who are all better than C1 animals. Just needs luck at the right time from barrier 1. WIFE SAYS YES sat no better than four deep last start when sustaining a big run and showing grit in the last 200m. Big query over the opposition she beat but she did it extremely tough. RIP IT SIDEWAYS pinched a maiden leading this track/distance two back for CJP. Looks a similar set up. THINKING GAME caught the eye last start. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SILVER BACK JACK WIN RACE 6 ROYAL GAP looks to get every chance in this. Two starts back he sat in the breeze and finished second behind San Fabrizio this track/distance and a repeat of that performance would see him hard to beat here. Last start he got over-racing and ended up three deep from the 1200 and was entitled to be beaten the margin he was. Gets his chance to lead and win here. AWESOME CHATTER is not an easy horse to catch but CJP goes back on and he’ll enjoy a soft run midfield. Knocking on the door. OCEAN AURA comes back in grade and back in distance. SKETTA is capable of bursting through if the gaps appear. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 12 Suggested Bet – ROYAL GAP WIN RACE 7 FASHION STAKES just looks like she’ll lob in the right spot here. Rommel’s Jeuney will come out marching from barrier 9, Jay Dee likely follows him across from barrier 11 and that means that Fashion Stake and Chris Parnham are likely poised one out and one back ready to strike on straightening. She’s no star but she’s going to get the run she needs in an even line-up. SOLDANELLE has raced in higher grade at all five runs in WA. Her first-up run in a 60+ 1400 behind Pompey at Belmont in August was a ripper. Keep safe. JAY DEE won a similar race to this two starts ago and never gave it away last start after being headed. PECOS brings Albany form but beat a handy mare last time out. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – FASHION STAKES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,7 1,2,6 2,5 1,3,4,7,8 Market Market
