Scott Embry’s Thursday Belmont Preview Posted on January 30, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MADE IN MEXICO and MEMORY PARADE should be first two round the corner and from there they might be able to sneak away from the chasing brigade and dominate the race between them. MADE IN MEXICO was able to fight them off first-up over 1200m and gave the impression he was the kind of animal who would benefit greatly from race experience and even a bit more ground. He’s got a lot of raw potential but is still learning. MEMORY PARADE got held up on straightening before bursting up the inside to go down by a head late to an in form galloper. Her debut win when leading was emphatic and in excellent time. IN GOOD ORDER and BUCKETS RIDGE both likely get back and will be attacking the line hard. Could be Derby types in the making. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MADE IN MEXICO WIN RACE 2 CORRECT CHOICE put the writing on the wall last start with a gritty performance splitting King’s Call and Extreme Love. She’s drawn barrier 9 of 9 but this maiden lacks both depth and genuine tempo so expect she’ll get across into a commanding position without burning much fuel early and from there she’s the one to beat. WESTERN POWER looms as the obvious danger. Comes through the Our Rocky Bay / Prince Of Santos race and then kept coming behind impressive winner Elite Fashions last start. IT’S A BREEZE was a big improver last start. MIRO is racing like he needs 2200. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – CORRECT CHOICE WIN RACE 3 DEFERRED ran into Made In Mexico first-up in a maiden that’s expected to hold up as a form reference. With the added benefit of fitness and race experience she should be hard to hold out at her second career outing. Looks a filly with upside and as the half-sister to Magnificent Andy she’s likely worth following. MAGNACHINE also has a pedigree as the half-sister to Demolish and Flying Missile. She’s bursting to win a race and also comes through strong form reference races. Stuck on well last start behind Our Rocky Bay with Prince OF Santos winning well out of that event. PRINCESS IN RED is the half sister to Dom To Shoot and worked home well through traffic on debut. JUST FAMOUS has been solid in both outings so far. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – DEFERRED WIN RACE 4 MY HIDDEN UNIVERSE ran a great race on debut behind Vivid Dream and was immediately tipped out for a spell. Wore his race day ear muffs in a recent trial at Lark Hill and looked to cover the ground brilliantly when skipping right away to win in style and time. Likely settles in front of his main dangers and looks to have ability. SENSESSIONAL got back in a leader dominated 1100m scamper first-up. Did a great job to finish off into third only beaten 1L. Extra furlong helps his cause. ANTIQUE STAR beat him home at trials and looked good in doing so. Looks capable of going forward or back from the draw. CINCINNATI DUKE got to the line nicely in his most recent trial. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – MY HIDDEN UNIVERSE WIN RACE 5 OLAJUWON was working to the line as well as anything behind Rewarding Artie last start over 2000m. That was his first attempt at the staying trip and he should take benefit from that outing. He’s drawn a better barrier here and doesn’t need to get quite as far off them in running. These 2100m maidens can be genuine raffles and he’s one of many hopes. DEMONSTRATION put in a shocker in a C1 two starts ago but either side of that he’s been excellent in maiden company. Can stay which is a big tick. DANEA ROCK has given every indication she’ll stay and if Wife Says Yes goes well at Ascot on Wednesday the form will look good. KINELLINS LEGACY was plunged last start but had to do some work early and didn’t really settle. Shades off the right move. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 12 – 13 Suggested Bet – OLAJUWON EACHWAY RACE 6 ANGEL UNDERCOVER is a proven Saturday filly. GOLD CITATION looks a Saturday horse in the making. They’re both lightly raced 3 year olds with nice futures and both sets of connections are probably heading into Thursday looking for an easy kill. You’d think that one of them comes out victorious and it likely comes down to who gets the better run in transit. Going to side up GOLD CITATION and Paul Harvey who could bully his way to the top here and control the race. Dangerous if allowed to cross. ANGEL UNDERCOVER has sharp point to point speed and if the gaps appear would be no surprise to see her go straight past. BOAB BOY strikes a tough C1 after running a big race last Wednesday. BONDI’S FUTURE won well at Gero. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOLD CITATION WIN RACE 7 SAVORSKI and SOARING SOLO come through the Playing Rio / Memory Parade / Wonder Weapon / Silver Back Jack C1 that’s expected to prove itself a strong form reference race. Hard to ignore the effort of SOARING SOLO who fought on bravely into fourth placing beaten only half a length after covering plenty of ground. Never thought we’d see her out to a mile but the way she’s going and the way this race maps (her leading uncontested) she gets a wonderful opportunity to pinch one in town. SAVORSKI has blinkers added for his second run in WA and is looking for ground. He’s dangerous if he gets out and into the clear to build momentum. BERGAMO is trying hard but leaves herself a lot to do. CITINO is still a maiden but this isn’t much tougher than a maiden. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOARING SOLO WIN RACE 8 SUPPORTIVE hasn’t raced for almost a month but showed last start that she’s back to her best. Even prior to that she went down fighting to Dennis Choux who has franked that form by winning yet again last Wednesday at Belmont. She parks up over the speed and now that she’s found form see no reason why she won’t be highly competitive again here. DIVINE FLIRT won first-up at 1200m last preparation and if she leaves cleanly can take up the early lead. WOZZECK really caught the eye at trials savaging the line. His ability level is better than his career record suggest. ROYAL TORONADO could be at the start of a Derby Prep and will be finishing off hard late. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – SUPPORTIVE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5,8,9,12,13 2,3 1,8 1,4,5,6,7,11 Market Market
