Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on February 26, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 JADE REEF looked the winner on debut before running around under pressure and racing extremely greenly. Can improve naturally with race experience and go close. SCENIC CHARM has been trialing the house down. If she can cross to lead she’ll be hard to run down. FETCH MORE AMMO won the trial well and certainly got the blood of R.S Bell flowing. GOOD FORTUNE has put in three good runs this prep and deserves to break through. Numbers: 9 – 12 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – JADE REEF WIN Race 2 DANEHILL STORM should fire straight to the front and take some running down. This race does lack a bit of depth and you know what you’re going to get with him. BURBOYNE back in trip to the 1200 and into a small field can run over the top with the right run. DOUBLE THE PRO was good first-up and a bit soft second-up. Smith on will get a few. DEMTIMES is more than capable of winning fresh. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DANEHILL STORM WIN Race 3 SOPHIE’S SONG looks likely to roll straight to the front. Looked to be travelling fairly well turning for home in the Pinjarra 3 year old Classic before finding traffic behind the tiring stablemate. 1400m suits. REBEL KNIGHT won like a nice horse first-up. When the rail is at 14m they can wind up and look ‘better’ than what the run is. May pay to tread with caution. COCKNEY CREW is super consistent and capable of sitting in the breeze and winning. PURE MAGNUS was a huge run against the pattern last start. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOPHIE’S SONG WIN Race 4 LEAGUE OF NATIONS looks extremely well placed to run a big race first-up. He can lead, he can sit over the speed and from the gate he has the options to do either. Looks an ice race for him. FAERIE WHISPER back in grade but could be back in traffic. DAWN MISSION off 7 days can run another improved race. LOOKUSOVER has put in two good runs this campaign. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – LEAGUE OF NATIONS Race 5 THE FUGAZI was backed as if unbeatable first-up and was run down late on a day where the winners were nearly exclusively coming from well off them winding up deep. He should be winning this and winning it well. DIVINE SHADOW won like a horse with a future on debut and looks the danger. VOLKWAGON FRANK went really well fresh and found traffic late. DIME A DECOY will be winding up late. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – THE FUGAZI WIN Race 6 WITHOUT REASON back against his own age group, backing up off 7 days and having run two big races in a row looks primed to score another well deserved win. APPARITION was backed strongly to beat him home last start and ran an equally good, if not better race. Big danger. JOVELLA looks like she will stay all day as does MATABELE. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – WITHOUT REASON WIN Race 7 LADY SASS trialed really well and won really well fresh. Looks like the kind of filly who will keep on improving with racing and might be worth following into the preparation. LIGHT MY DAY will find this a far more suitable assignment than last start in Listed 3 year old grade. REEF KEEPER almost pinched it last start when allowed to lead. MASSA MAC always a places chance. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – LADY SASS WIN Race 8 FAST AS THE WIND should enjoy the run of the race in a wide open finish to the twilight card. Big improver last start with a gear change and best is good enough. ANCIENT HOPE can wind-up a fair way from home and keep coming. BUSTERS SHADOW can always run a race at odds. DECOY NOXIOUS fresh is worth a nibble if he gets out well into double figures. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – FAST AS THE WIND EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1 1,2 3,12 4,7,8 Market Market
