Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on June 26, 2025June 26, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PRETEY ROYAL was stiff last week. If Brad Parnham was able to get the run through when he was looking for it on straightening then considering how well she finished off over the last 200m you’d say it would have been a very tight photo with Sweet Surrender. Screaming out for 2200. ROYAL TROOPER is third-up out to 2200m but there was certainly something to like about his last two when ridden by Holly Nottle. No surprise to see him get up in this very thin maiden. CHOICE ATTRACTION has a set of shades added and is a real one paced grinding type. YALDA NIGHT wasn’t horrible two back behind Our Paladin Al. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRETEY ROYAL WIN RACE 2 QUEEN ARIA looks very hard to toss. She finished second to Our Paladin Al (since won a C3) and then finished second to Flying Choux when getting a mile out of her ground and finishing off the race encouragingly. Better barrier, better map and weaker field. TOBAIN has now hit the line strongly in his last two so the trust is starting to build. AHH CHOUX got to the line alright in a race dominated on top of the speed by Saxon Jewel fresh. PERFECT RULER is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. Fancy they race Wednesday (and then knowing Boy Hill consider the 24-hour back-up. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – QUEEN ARIA WIN RACE 3 SETAGAYA beat home first-up winner River Angel in her 950m barrier trial and then finished a narrow second to Scenic George first-up. With Diamond’n’rubies and Scenic George both on show on Wednesday we’ll get a sighter into the quality of the form line. MAJESTIC PRINCESS had two runs last prep, second to Shmoov Moova and then was unable to get into it second-up on a leader dominated day at Pinjarra in a forgive. Big watch fresh. LADY MAYFLOWER had a set of blinkers added last start and travelled up much stronger. RARE HONOR has trialled up quite well for his debut. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – SETAGAYA WIN RACE 4 REBELNADO trialled well over 400m and 950m and then was solid behind Savage Dancer fresh in a form reference that’s expected to hold up. The wide draw is an obvious concern/unknown but he does look the kind of horse who will appreciate a bit of room to move in himself. Three deep cover could be the place to be considering they’re racing on the same pad 24 hours apart. METALIC MARLIN was given every chance by Lucy Fiore last start and couldn’t get the job done. At least Ranyx has won to frank the form line. NAUGHTY TORTIE ran second to Too Soon last prep. That stands out. THINK QUICK was a great return. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – REBELNADO WIN RACE 5 WHERE’S MY LUNCH threw the race away last start when beaten by King Hit. Copped a decent old hip and shoulder on straightening and then wanted to dart inwards every time Sharni Webster pulled the whip. Senior goes on and he’s clearly flying. TALK TO WYN trialled up really well alongside a sharp sprinter in Horcrux. Capable of jumping and rolling along out in front and with a 3kg claim looks hard to run down. WORK HOME FRONT has been a ripper in and around this 46+/52+ grade for months. SANDFIRE ROSE was an encouraging return to racing. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 13 Suggested Bet – WHERE’S MY LUNCH WIN RACE 6 FANCY RED has been a really consistent filly this preparation and looks to have found another winnable race, albeit one with a few winning chances and clashing form references. Back to 1400m, drawn to box seat and has shown a great versatility throughout her short career to date. Big day on paper for Pike-Durrant. ROCK IN WONDER showed plenty of potential last preparation when wining a C1 and then holding his own in a 66+. AZENA won well two back and then wasn’t far behind State Of Fury last start. PRECIOUS GOD is lengths better than what she has produced so far this preparation. Don’t give up yet. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – FANCY RED WIN RACE 7 AMARLIME is another Pike-Durrant (that’s 4 on top selections for that combo) and does look really well suited. Dropped back to 1200m last start which was never going to be in her favour and yet still pulled good late ground off Lucky I Am who has since finished second on a Saturday. Can hold a spot and has a turn of foot. MISS ROCKJOY put her best foot forward for the first time in a long while behind Thermosphere Lad. CASH FLOW finds hits easier than the first-up assignment and did trial quite well leading into his return. CHARMING BELLE continues to go well for new trainer Nakita Barber. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – AMARLIME WIN RACE 8 BE AWESOME has put in two really good runs for Steph Bakranich. Attacked the line hard first-up and then got home well behind clearly talented 3 year old Leetron second-up. Has been a hard horse to catch over the years but given the openness and evenness of this contest going to put him on top and at eachway price. There’s literally 8-10 winning chances in this. QUICK COOKIE has improved out of sight? Her last two have been outstanding. ACES TO WIN is getting out to his preferred trip. KARSAVINA has her second outing for Dan Morton and will only get better with racing/distance. Numbers: 9 – 13 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – BE AWESOME EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,4,7 1,2,3,4,5,7 3,5 2,3,7,11,13,14,15,16 Market Market
