Scott Embry’s Thursday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 28, 2021October 1, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TURBO POWER won a 70+ four starts ago, finished third in the Goldrush behind Tajmali three starts ago (meeting on the same weights but with a senior rider on and a better gate), finished fifth in the Coolgardie Sprint when wide throughout and then fourth when gobbled up late in the Sprint on Boulder Cup day. From the inside draw in a small field should be going close. TAJMALI has hit form and is never far from the action. Beaten home Turbo Power at her last two and if you have a liking for one you have a liking for the other. SEMIGEL will sit back and have last crack at them. PROTECTED ACTION is flying but this is far tougher than a 58+. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – TURBO POWER WIN RACE 2 REBELZONE and HERE’S DREAMING are two talented 3 year old fillies who both look to have far more upside as well as weight on the rest of the all-age maidens. HERE’S DREAMING ran third on debut in a 2 year old midweeker behind Ground Braker and subsequent winner Astrape when doing a fair bit wrong and hitting the line powerfully. Given a freshen by Luke Fernie, winkers on and could be above average. REBELZONE comes from a well-known winning family and trialled up nicely. Drawn the inside gate and will have a stack of admirers. Looks a filly with talent. SECRET LAIR and TALKABOUTYOU also head to Kalgoorlie and both have the speed to take up forward position. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – HERE’S DREAMING WIN RACE 3 TAHITIAN RED finished third first-up behind Elite Fighter and My Fury. Faded into a midfield position second-up and then last time out finished fourth behind Black Fantasy and Beloved Star. Shaun McGruddy takes over riding duties, rides at the minimum and has a filly with tactical speed. Looks to have enough toe to cross to the fence and if she does she should take running down. RECALLED met with a stack of late support on debut. Finished sixth beaten 3L in an effort which looked like he was screaming out for further. The form will be on show in a 58+ at Geraldton on Wednesday through Miner Addiction and his preceding trials were all strong. ZERO DAWN finished just behind Recalled first-up and was immediately moved on. MEET JOE BLACK is going well but isn’t an easy ride. Does a lot of looking around. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – TAHITIAN RED WIN RACE 4 BLACK COMET is a different horse with Pateman on. Last start MR Peter Fernie elected to utilise the 3kg claim of Jett Stanley and the horse didn’t look the same. First-up zapped Dalswinton from second last when unleashing a huge run down the centre. Awesome in defeat three starts ago behind Balladeer when luckless. Winner on Tatts Cup Day with 60.5kg then only moderate last start. Can definitely turn the tables. ALL IN RED comes from a 1760 back to a 1600m and was responsible for a strong tempo last start. Overall time 4L faster than 58+ average and she was still there with 100m to go. Looks ready to win. DALSWINTON is always a chance in this grade. REGAL DIVIDEND gets weight relief but strikes a far tougher field than she has been meeting. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLACK COMET WIN RACE 5 DANCING JACK is drawn a horror alley but it is hard to argue with the way that Pam Oram as him going. Finished second to Little Ses (beating home subsequent winner Regal Dividend) two starts ago at 1600m, was charging late in an eye catching display at 1760m when getting home brilliantly late in the race at 1760m in a 58+. Now drops from a 58+ into a 50+ and should be hard to hold out late. REGAL CITY was massive in the same race. Looked under serious pressure at the 600m. Amazingly kept coming and kept whacking away. AMERICAN GRIN gets out in trip and has always looked a staying type in the making. SASSATIONAL doesn’t win out of turn but also rarely runs a bad race. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DANCING JACK WIN RACE 6 THE BEACH is always hard to run down when she is able to find the front in this grade. 1200m is probably right on her limit but in the last month or so she has finished half a length off Dark Mission and Devine Beast, half a length off Semigel and Protected Action and then run second in a 54+ at Belmont. Dave Smith has her flying and she gets in with no weight. SOLARIZE is going well and is drawn a gate to track up along the inside. Dangerous late with even luck. KNIGHT TEMPEST won first-up last campaign. Goes super fresh and has raw and natural ability above the majority of rivals. PASTRY gains the services of W.Pike and draws a gate. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – THE BEACH WIN RACE 7 THAT’S FUNNY AZ is the ideal Hannans Handicap horse. Comes out running, gets in just above the minimum, should park outside of Special View who will likely take him to the top of the straight and then holds a tactical advantage over main rivals who are drawn awkwardly. From there he stays out of trouble, from there he’s hard to run down and Dion Luciani deliberately races him fresh to get the best out of him. Has avoided the temptation of many $100,000 78+ ratings races to come into the Hannans 7.5 weeks between runs. Ticks all the boxes. TELLEM WE’RE COMIN ran second at Weight For Age in the Idyllic Prince, won the Farnley and is a previous Hannans Handicap winner himself. Has to be the testing material regardless of the nightmare gate. DIG DEEP comes into the race fresh and showed last campaign he’s a genuine carnival type. MOSCHARD couldn’t have done any more than what he did under 62.5kg last start. Won’t know himself with 54. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – THAT’S FUNNY AZ WIN RACE 8 TOWN HALL joins the stables of J.A Mason who is known in the region for improving tried horses. Only two starts ago finished third behind Celebrity Witness and prior to that resumed in a 3 year old 62+ off the back of a handy trial effort under a hold. Keep safe at odds in a wide open C1 event. BORN SPICY was backed heavily last start and was absolutely bolting when held up until the 50m. Peter Fernie has her back and she’s ready to win. ABOARD and JOYRIZE are both going super for Freddo Brown and shouldn’t be C1 horses for too much longer. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – TOWN HALL EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,10 1,2,5,10 1,2,4,6,8 4,5,6,8,10,11,12 Market Market
