Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on January 28, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SOWAR was held up essentially the entire length of the straight first-up at Mt Barker off the back of a solid trial. Then last start was stiff to run into classy stablemate and subsequent metro winner Eurasia. Gets his chance. RUBYCHINO looked home everywhere but the post when nailed by far less fancied stablemate Artie’s Comet first-up. DOLLY’S DREAM seems to have really improved in the Hunters tables and comes across. KHAVIYAR trialed nicely for her debut. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN Race 2 PHANTOM’S STAR is the new comer to the region and the provincial maiden form is very strong for a race like this. Fourth behind Tycoon Storm, Pambella and Western Chant before running a fair race last start. This is a weak field and she should win. BLACK MISSILE was big late last start when trailing the field around and charging through the line. MISS PINS disappointed last start but was afforded absolutely no luck from a shocking gate. TAKE ME HOME HONEY might need every inch of 2000. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – PHANTOM’S STAR WIN Race 3 OUR BUDDY BOY has taken a few runs to hit his form but now dropping to the minimum against a lot of older horses with big weights to carry and queries at the trip he gets a wonderful chance to break through. Loves the 1400 at Albany with 3 wins and 3 seconds from 9 outings and this looks excellent placement by Bec Wallrodt. READ THE RIOT ACT is not going quite as well as the start of the preparation but has been lumping weight. CORPORATE LARRIKIN could be an improver if finding the top. RUN LIAM RUN only has a handful of runs left to try and win another. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – OUR BUDDY BOY WIN Race 4 WAR KSAR has been bursting to win a race and this looks a big opportunity for him. Barrier 1 never ideal for a horse who can get back in the run but watch any of his last 3 race starts and he should have won at least one of them. IONYX steps to the staying trip for the first time in his life and while he was beaten fair and square by Scoreline last start so were 12 metro horses on Saturday at Ascot. If he can see out the trip he’ll be very hard to hold out. PROXY finds the top and is always honest. TORU WAIMARIE knocking on the door. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – WAR KSAR WIN Race 5 DEEL RED was never on the track last start and was enormous to fight on into fifth only beaten 2.5L behind Wolfe pair Mr Pago and Mass Effect. Whiting on and drops in grade. Hard to beat. DEPUTANO is a 3 year old filly taking on the older horses but did win a 2000m maiden at Bunbury in her first preparation so the trip will be no issue at all and her two runs in this campaign have been excellent. REGAL REBELLE comes from the same race as Deputano and was luckless. Looks a legitimate danger. LOSING TICKET comes up from Esperance and should be afforded every chance in running. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – DEEL RED WIN Race 6 SAX ON QUE looks to have found a great race to bounce back into the winner’s circle. From gate 3 Pateman just has to keep her in touch with the field and within striking distance on straightening. Her turn of foot should do the rest. TRANQUILLA SUNRISE is best allowed to stride and Beaux Edwards lets him do that. APOLLO draws soft and has the ability but a few quirks. TWISTED MOUNTAIN always around the place in this grade. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAX ON QUE WIN Race 7 STARORIO was in a purple patch of form winning two on the bounce in style up the cutaway before being sent up to the standalone Pinjarra meeting when running fourth to Lock Her In, Kelly’s Gem and Perceptive Miss. Kelly’s Gem jumped favourite in a Saturday race at Ascot, Perceptive Miss ran second on the same day. SPEED BANDIT was a shade disappointing last start but back markers were impossible in that race. LUKE’S GOLD looks to be building toward a win. MR PAGO drops back in trip after a staying win. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – STARORIO WIN Race 8 MOOD GODDESS will need some luck from the draw but her recent trial was excellent when charging to the line under a hold. Was dominant in a Northam maiden win when last in work and she meets an even bunch. DEANGLES and DEMERITISE both have the ability to win and both draw relatively kind gates. SWANKY LASS ran second to Norske Code last start. That is strong form but the 1200 is the query. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – MOOD GODDESS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,6 3 4,5,6,8 4,6,7,8 Market Market
