Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on January 28, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 UNIBELLE was strong on debut when recording the strongest late sectionals. Was thrown in the deep end at her second career outing in a Saturday 3 year old event. Money Matters dominated that race and Unibelle finished alongside Guesteen. That looks good enough form to give this a shake. NAUGHTY BY NATURE has a turn of foot and looks to have a bit of a future. SAUVEGARDE found the step to metro grade a little sharp last start but this is easier. SMILE FOR ME can come across to the breeze. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – UNIBELLE WIN Race 2 TOMMY BLUE ran very well on debut as a 2 year old when hard in the market. Finished second to Pretty Style with those behind: Showzali, Eurasia, Jevelation and Orachino all breaking maiden status subsequently. New yard, strong trials, looks hard to roll. OILSKIN has trialed like a horse who will take beating on debut. PULI was disappointing on debut but all the trials have been impressive. TRUTIARA travels well but doesn’t seem to accelerate when asked for an effort. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – TOMMY BLUE WIN Race 3 EXCELLENT DREAM was backed as if unbeatable at his first start for Lindsey Smith and the money was spot on. Never looked like being beaten after bounding to the top. Scratched from what turned out to be a winnable race on Saturday for this and looks like being ~$1.50. Steps to 1200 which brings an element of risk to the short quote but looks well above average. EUROTRIP could be run off his feet early but will be coming home late. If the favourite has a chink in his armour watcj MISINFORMED BEN was only fair at Geraldton, previous start strong. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – EXCELLENT DREAM WIN Race 4 YULONG EARTH raced far more tractably last start for Mitchell Pateman after his drunken sailor routine at his WA debut. Showed last start he had no issue with the weight and this is a weaker race than that. Should go back and get conditions to suit and looks the clear winner. MELROS BEACH could find the top relatively comfortably. FIRESALE has had no luck all preparation. WAR ANTHEM finally broke through last start but had a serious think about it. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – YULONG EARTH WIN Race 5 ROSIE RED DRESS seems to have really improved in the care of Brian Rogers. The fresh run last start for a 4kg claiming apprentice was excellent and while the race was against very limited opposition she should give a sight with a senior rider on. SAN CRISPINO has been excellent all preparation and can lead or sit right over the speed. She is going too well not to be right in the finish. SMITH put the writing on the wall last start with a luckless fifth. PAGAN IMAGE was only grinding fresh but that may not have been the best spot for him on the fence. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROSIE RED DRESS EACHWAY Race 6 BAFFLING is lightly raced and probably the stayer in the field with the most upside. This should genuinely be $7.50 the field and on an eachway basis from the ideal gate and with a white hot jock looks right in the mix. UNENDING was probably a better run than it will read on paper and look to the eye at her most recent. NICE GO brings alternate form lines and that could definitely be in her favour. DOC FRIAR is simply a W.Pike horse. Forget all other form. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – BAFFLING EACHWAY Race 7 ILLUSTRIOUS TYCOON returns to the races as a gelding and for a new stable. Leading into last preparation he trialed very poorly and ran accordingly. Trialed much better this time in and has the necessary speed to come across from a wide gate. The horse who beat him in the trial could be a star and he’ll be eachway in a relatively even field. AY TEE EMM was super first-up when charging to the line in a Saturday race. STIRLING ESTATE is suited in this grade and draws well. He is racing well. TYCOON LEGEND runs for Jade McNaught and looks just about ready to win again. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – ILLUSTRIOUS TYCOON EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1 2,4,5,7,9 2,5,6,7,8,9,12 1,4,6,7,8,10,12 Market Market
