Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 20, 2023October 20, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BOLTA did it tough in the Barney’s World race when caught three deep throughout but fought on alright into fourth. The step to 1400m is an unknown as all of his racing to date has been over the short course but he’s got a set of blinkers going on and barrier 1 which should ensure he fires out into a prominent position. EDWARD’S CHOICE ran home nicely on Hannans Day behind Just So Sassy but may have to go back again from the draw. PATRIOTISM was only beaten half a length by Dialling on Hannans Day and is proven at the 7 furlongs. ELUSIVE DREAM has promised to win one all prep. Running out of chances. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BOLTA WIN RACE 2 TALK IT UP was unable to find the front in the Ron Sayers Memorial Sprint and then was forced to tramp out deep throughout. He faded back through the field and was beaten a 5L margin. He can bounce back here finding the front and kicking hard into the corner. DOUBLE SPICE is likely to park outside of him and he’s a tough nut. No doubt the pressure will go on from the top of the corner. NURHACI is likely to camp in behind the pair and enjoy a nice run into the race. TURBO POWER showed a month ago that he’s more than capable of sitting off the speed and zapping gallopers of this nature. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TALK IT UP WIN RACE 3 HIGH PRESSURE, WITCH STREET and BEAUTIFUL BARQOUE have intertwining form to their names and they’ll be the three popular horses in betting who are likely to fight out the finish of the race. There isn’t much between but will side up narrowly with HIGH PRESSURE who can park over the speed and dictate terms. WITCH STREET beat him home two starts back and is suited by the small field size. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE put the writing on the wall on Hannans Day with a big finishing burst behind Great Demon and High Pressure. DELIBERATION next best. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – HIGH PRESSURE WIN RACE 4 RYEWOOD resumed in a C2 1300 at her first start for Peter Fernie and tried hard behind Lieutenant Dunbar. Second-up gets straight out to a mile and that’s the distance where she’s won both of her races to date. She’s drawn to do no work and should be right within striking distance from the box seat. Nice race for her. CAPTAIN ROGERS can lead without much pressure and Ash Grace has his team ticking over nicely. Should be in front for a long way. PASSION PRINCE finished third in a 60+ Graduation on Cup Day. This is much easier. ABOARD doesn’t win out of turn but she’s racing consistently. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – RYEWOOD WIN RACE 5 COUNTER DRIVE would have preferred if this race was 1400m but he’s still going well enough to pinch it at 1200. Won back to back 1400m 58+ races in May and August and then contested the Coolgardie Sprint, an Open Sprint and a 72+ on Cup Day. Great form. LUCKY FOO FOO never got a crack at them at her return from a freshen. She crossed the line in 7th beaten under 3L but she could have finished much closer with even luck. She can bounce back. DUNBAR hasn’t seen a 58+ in a long while, he’s just a horse that many find hard to trust. SOLARIZE was all the rage at Leonora but didn’t go a yard on the dirt. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – COUNTER DRIVE WIN RACE 6 THE BIG ONE has turned a corner since arriving on the Goldfields and is running for Cassey Martinan. Won a C2 1300 beating Twelve Bells back at the end of September and then went around on Hannans Day when finishing a narrow second to Mungo Jerry in a 64+. Now drops back to a C2 and if he can carry the weight he’ll be hard to get past. KELLY’S LI ZA LU was too quick for them at Leonora and is drawn inside of The Big One. Can box seat on the favourite and enjoy a lovely tow into the race. MAIDMY WAY has had a 2 month freshen and can reel off a pretty slick L600. BAALBEK next best. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE BIG ONE WIN RACE 7 CALIFORNICATION won a 58+ at Kalgoorlie four back, then contested 2x 60+ Graduations in town at Belmont Park before racing on Cup Day in a another 60+ Gradaduation when a fast finishing third behind Kick A Goal Son and Mack Mack in a race which was dominated close handy to the speed. This looks a great race for him to bounce back and an excellent use of the 1.5kg claim for Luke Campbell. RED CADILLAC won on Hannans Day and Cup Day over 1760m when crunched in betting on both occasions. She’s the danger. KALLAROO couldn’t get the job done in the Leonora Cup but is trying. DAWN ENIGMA next best. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CALIFORNICATION WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,2,4,6 1 1,4 Market Market
