Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 17, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ESCALATING has run second at his last three starts and has been given every chance by Mitch Pateman on each occasion. William Pike comes to town and the King of Kal has been dethroned with the Wizard jumping aboard Escalating. Likely to be artificially short for a horse who is no star but gets every conceivable chance to finally break through. FANDAZZLE comes to Kalgoorlie with Matt Scott’s travelling team. Has been a model of consistency her entire career. DO YOUR BEST is likely to find the front and has no weight after the claim. ART ADMIRER was huge two starts ago. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – ESCALATING WIN RACE 2 DAVEEDO much like Escalating in the first will be shorter than his ability but William Pike historically dominates when he goes to Kalgoorlie. Last 365 days: 39 rides for 18 winners at 46%. So we’ll be tipping him to have a field day in the Goldfields as he usually does. Has run some good races since joining Peter Fernie and from the draw can track up from the 600. EMERALD ROSE has had her fair share of chances but from the draw gets every possible hope. JACK’S FROST will need some luck from a horror draw but he deserves to win one. AURAE has her first start for a new yard and showed glimpses. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – DAVEEDO WIN RACE 3 REVEL is to be ridden by (you guessed it) William Pike and is trained by (#shock) MR Peter Fernie and they could well be looking for a race to race to race treble early in the card. His effort two starts ago was enormous in defeat and then was the beneficiary of a Pateman special at his most recent when scoring. Stays in the same grade and now that he has put it together can continue on his merry way. MANHATTAN MONEY draws to box seat and do no work. NOT MY FIGHT comes to Kalgoorlie after a strong maiden win and then a serviceable third at the provincials. HERRON SANDY was reported as being stressed and drained after her first-up run so she comes into this fresh. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – REVEL WIN RACE 4 WOCKNWOLL has been consistent of late without winning. Looks like she has been screaming out for a little more trip and now steps to 1300m. From the gate shoul land in a stalking position and in an even race has a great winning chance. WATTO’S FURY will be looking to lead them up from gate 3 or just sit off them. Either way in the map he has to be the biggest danger. HAYAN LAD has hit form and once he does he holds it regardless of grade or distance. SIGIL is Sigil. Pateman got him home at Northam after 1000 days. What can Pike bring to the table? Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – WOCKNWOLL WIN RACE 5 CONCRETE MADAM is yet to win a race this preparation but Pike jumps aboard and over the traditional annual Kalgoorlie round last year he had two rides aboard her for two dominant wins. On both occasions he lead on her so expecting some aggression from the outside gate. Should be peaking fourth up. KNIGHT TEMPEST comes into this 6 weeks between runs and that freshsen up should see him going very close to recapturing his electric turn of foot. CLOAK AND DAGGER was declared by MR Peter Fernie on Tabradio’s Racing Rewind two starts ago and duly saluted at $17. Last start was heavily commissioned and just missed. Clearly flying for the Bretts. ON THE TURPS hard to catch but always a top 4 chance. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – CONCRETE MADAM WIN RACE 6 AMILLIONITE could be yet another winner for William Pike as he chases his own riding record. She has run back to back third placings and that’s the kind of mare she is, just needs every thing to go her way, but from the draw she should be sitting fourth in running, one out and one back ready to pound at the top of the straight. Perfect Pike ride and see no reason why she wouldn’t be going awfully close. WEMBLEY DAYZ is building to a win very soon. ORAVA has two big changes, blinkers on and the real slim Patesy on. NEAT ACTION strikes his most suitable race of the campaign by far. Numbers: 11 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – AMILLIONITE WIN RACE 7 STARALIGN had a very consistent start to the preparation prior to his most recent run at Belmont when beaten 6L. That was a deteriorating soft7 track so he can be somewhat forgiven for a below par performance. If he can produce his form of April, May, June then he looks extremely well placed here from the draw. SLUICE BOX is 7 weeks between runs but was a revelation when last in work. Went from an Esperance maiden to a C2 type in a matter of weeks. HOTHAM VALLEY is a noted wet tracker but regardless the Perth form is strong for a race of this nature. CLASSI SURVIVOR does a bit wrong but from the draw can definitely bob up at a price. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – STARALIGN WIN RACE 8 MAGIC WILL REIGN really has put the writing on the wall his last two since joining the Cambana Lodge team. Steps out to 1760 which should the perfect trip for him and somehow Peter Fernie has convinced Kyra Yuill to jump ship off Rapid Eye Movement to ride, such is the strength of MR. Could cap off a big day for the premier stable of the Goldfields. CUBAN TWIST comes out of a Belmont Oaks and her last win in Kalgoorlie was super strong. RAPID EYE MOVEMENT has done nothing wrong and David Smith is a genius with these tried horses. STOCKYARD GOSSIP comes from a high rating race and is worth consideration. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WILL REIGN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4,5 2,3,7,11 1,2,3,5,9 2,3,5,8,9 Market Market
