Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 24, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 PERCENTAGE PLAY found the 1000m too sharp first up and failed to get into a rhythm. This trip looks just right and suspect Ryan Hill would’ve had the choice of a couple of rides in this. LET ME PASS is quite one paced but if anyone can improve them that extra length it’s leading trainer Mr Peter Fernie. POLITE PASS was an alarming drifter 7 days ago and ran below expectations. She’s better than that. SMARTRAVELLA runs his same honest race and is never without a chance. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – PERCENTAGE PLAY WIN Race 2 HAYAN LAD has had no luck whatsoever since joining Neil Dellar. Senior rider Ryan Hill takes over and looks destined to land in the box seat and from there takes a stack of beating. JIMMY RAPID was backed confidently and ran well below par first up. Gallant according the Albany Advertiser, disappointing to us. Expect far better here. RELEASE THE SAX finds the front again and that position is always advantageous around this circuit. MISS MERIT may have got to the 1400m a run too early. Stable has hit form and another Brian Thomas smile will feature in the Miner soon. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – HAYAN LAD WIN Race 3 PALMA MERENTI is returning to the races fresh after a promising start to his Kalgoorlie career. If Autier can find a clear passage down the straight he is right in this. Has run big races since arriving. IT’S DYNAMITE has been freshened up and that tends to be when she puts in her best performances. Only a small mare who should appreciate the claim and the drop back to 1100m. INDRIEL is on the quick backup and drops back to her preferred 1100m. If she can lead, she’s a chance. ANOTHER DEMON drops back in grade after a deserved crack in open company. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – PALMA MERENTI EACHWAY Race 4 ZANDARALL appears to be the horse with the most upside in this race. Was fair at his first start for new Goldfields connections and it looks like the further he goes the more he will come into his own. RARE SELECTION was given every possible chance by Lucy Warwick last time out but fell victim to the flying Oorah. BJORN TO LOVE got the better of Inject The Venom who has since ran an admirable race in town. Respect that form. REIDY hit the line strongly at the mile so rise to 1760m looks a positive. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – ZANDARALL EACHWAY Race 5 OORAH is absolutely flying and impossible to go past here. She didn’t look likely when entering the straight at her most recent run but sprouted wings and got over the top of her rivals quite effortlessly. A win here books her a spot in the features over the Race Round. ASTRONOMITE was only narrowly beaten in his only start in Kalgoorlie in the Coolgardie Cup. Going better than it reads. ROJO CALOR returns to the Goldfields where he had plenty of success earlier in the season. THIDWICK THE MOOSE bounced back last start when well found. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – OORAH WIN Race 6 HAPPY HARRY has always looked a high quality conveyance and showed that brilliance first up. Has had success lumping big weights in the past and from the inside gate should stalk the leader and prove too good again. BONNY BE GOOD is a big watch after a failed trip to Broome. It may pay to put a line through those runs and her best grass form is outstanding. PRESENTATIE trialed very well and is astutely placed first-up for new connections. LITTLE HERCULES is eligible for easier assignments but form behind Pyms Royale and Turbo Power is hot. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – HAPPY HARRY WIN Race 7 COSMIC EYES has shown glimpses of being a talented sprinter and her maiden trip to Kalgoorlie was no exception. Bolted in that day and has since ran a credible 2nd to the promising Double Bubble. Jason Whiting makes a rare appearance to the region to get her home. WOCKNWOLL was knocked around like Andrew Gaff in the fourth quarter of the Derby last start. Forgive that effort (hers, not his). PASTRY will burn to the front with her light weight. HUMANITY has run out of chances and is looking for a new home. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – COSMIC EYES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) FLD 7 3,8 7 Market Market
