Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 2, 2024February 2, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK worked forward from a wide gate last start before kicking clear on straightening. Faded late and was run down by Simply Thinkin’ and Another Strike, however, that was 1208m this is 1108m and he shouldn’t have to do anywhere near as much work in the early and middle stages. Can lead, can sit, should go well. BRAVO CENTURION made his debut at Northam back in August and impressed. He rattled to the line from a mile off them and was immediately tipped out. First-up no trial, big watch. MISS ESPRIT is racing well. She’ll leave the gates cleanly and probably looks to lead them here. SOCKEYE was a nice trial behind My Hidden Universe who races Saturday at Ascot. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK WIN RACE 2 KNOCKONEBACK ran a fast finishing third on debut behind Red Square in a 2 year old mid-weeker before being thrown in the deep end in two Saturday races when not disgraced. Lots of resuming horses and lots of clashing form references makes this a tricky race to dissect but going off his debut performance he’ll be competitive. CLASSIC RULER looked good winning her most recent Lark Hill trial. Should get every chance on debut. LIFE’S A CIRCUS trialled behind Call Of Duty who was a brilliant debut winner. If there’s any money around it may pay to follow. DUKE OF WELLINGTON was a much better run than it reads on paper at his first start for Bob McPherson. Senior rider goes on second-up, keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – KNOCKONEBACK WIN RACE 3 MANHATTAN JEWEL was beaten in a country maiden last start at Albany and usually heading back to the provincial area you’d be steering clear, however, this race lacks any real depth so on paper it doesn’t look any more difficult. Senior rider goes on, she can ride the speed and there’s no stars in the chasing bridge. Gets her chance. MISTRESS OF WAR has actually run well in all three runs this preparation. Run into better quality opposition than this and has been finding the line. VERRY TIMELY continues to race well and looks like she’ll appreciate a bit of ground. WHAITIRI is knocking on the door, it just refuses to open. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN JEWEL WIN RACE 4 CORRECT CHOICE is actually a beneficiary in some ways of the races being abandoned on Thursday at Belmont because she was drawn barrier 9 of 9 and now she’s into barrier 1. From there she can come out positive, hold her position in running and be afforded every chance to break through for a deserving victory. No star but she tries. AUDIO BOY was a forgive run last start. He was one out one back but in a horribly slowly run race where the three and four deep line built momentum as he was getting continually shuffled back. WIN TO RETIRE was massive again last start when working at stages. MACCIATEAU held his own fresh over 1400m. Blinkers on now. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – CORRECT CHOICE WIN RACE 5 SAVORSKI is having his second run in WA and they put the blinkers on. Liked his trials over 1000m for a horse who broke maiden status over a staying trip on a Soft6 at Moe and then thought his first-up run was that of a horse who simply needed a bit further. Right form race, right increase in distance. The Playing Rio race has already produced Silver Back Jack for victory and Wonder Weapon was stiff last Saturday. Right form and this is 90m longer than it would have been Thursday at Belmont. SOARING SOLO was the on top selection for Thursday at Belmont but just wary that the extra 90m is probably not in her favour as the venues chance. She’ll control and dictate terms but she’s out in trip for the first time in her life. BERGAMO can sustain a long run. CITINO maps well. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SAVORSKI WIN RACE 6 SEVEN IRON was first-up at 1400m and loomed large on straihgtneing behind handy three year old Prince Of Santos. He should be fitter second-up at 1400 and he’s capable of working forward to sit up over the speed. Like the way he goes about it and think he’ll be winning more than just maiden / C1 in time. LADY TREMAINE found the sprint trip a bit sharp first-up but never gave it away. Looks like the right move getting her out in trip second-up. LACIE ACE has ability but can’t seem to find the right race / map. Awkwardly drawn again. MANZOR MAGIC went around favourite on debut at Northam and got to the line well late. Might want ground. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SEVEN IRON WIN RACE 7 SIMPLY is first-up at 1400m and was very popular in betting at each of three runs last campaign. Ran into some above average types and has been showing reasonable zip over the 950m for a horse resuming at 1410. Just needs to find the right back to follow into the race and can wind up powerfully late. SHE’S PERFECTION has only had one start and that was back in December. Gave the impression she’d need every inch of 1400. IVANA’S GIFT placed at two of four when last in work and resumes without a trial. Watch. HE’S ARCHIE ran well first-up. 1100 was always going to be too short for him but he got ran right through the line. Numbers: 5 – 14 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – SIMPLY WIN RACE 8 MY JIMMY, RUSSIAN TO THE BAR, WOZZECK, ELITE FASHIONS, TERRATIF – this is a sensational C1 but TERRATIFF could not have been any more impressive last start when she was going from a maiden to a C1 and was a back-marker on a day where it was hard to make much ground. She savaged the line and was visually (and sectionally) the most impressive run of the entire meeting. Have to follow her. ELITE FASHIONS ran them ragged last start. MY JIMMY went from 1400 to 1600 and couldn’t quite reel in Prophet And Power who might be a bit under-estimated as a rolling leader. Back to Bunbury and to 1400m. WOZZECK trialled super for Troy Turner and was scratched last week to save for this. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – TERRATIF WIN RACE 9 SUPPORTIVE ran second to Dennis Choux (subsequent winner) two back in a C3 1200 under Brad Parnham and then dominated from the front last start when Luke Campbell went on. Neville Parnham goes with the senior rider again and elects to instead claim off stablemate Yarralea. She’s a month between runs but she has a really attractive racing pattern and she’s already a winner in this grade. Hard to knock. CRUNCHY NUT has been given a freshen after testing the waters in a 3 year old Saturday. ROMMEL’S ANGEL drops back to 1200m and given the wide draw may be ridden in a similar way to what she was on 7 January this track/distance when winning. SHEZGOTTHALOT has ability and a soft draw. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – SUPPORTIVE WIN RACE 10 STORMCHASER is all X-Factor. He was a brilliant winner over 1000m first-up at Bunbury running down Bayezid and last start he was able to zap talented sprinter Hanchi in a 72+ when they comfortably accounted for the older horses. Versatile and exciting. A LOT OF GOOD MEN went around in a Group One Northerly Stakes at WFA last start. He’s only 2 months between runs and has had a trial as well so he hasn’t had much of a break between campaigns. 1200m likely on the short side for him but he’s the class runner and at SWP is thrown in. Big respect. PETULA is fresh and has a short sharp sprint on her. FINAL SIREN tasted defeat for the first time in his life last start but jumping cleanly can work across. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – STORMCHASER WIN RACE 11 ADVANCED resumed in the Fitzpatrick Plate and rattled home into fifth behind Supersession who has since won the Mt Barker Sprint. Great placement to drop him back into a C5 and has clearly come back to racing well. If they can make ground it looks a really nice race for him and he always goes well second-up. MYSTIC JANE was massive two start back behind Eee Pee Cee. Reproduces that run and she’s right in the mix. She’s turned into quite the versatile mare who is just as good on speed as off speed. Can be ridden to suit the pattern. LORD GANNICUS and SEDUCE ME are both hard horses to catch and neither win out of turn, however, like the entire Grant & Alana Team they’re in form and going well. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – ADVANCED WIN Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 4,7 1,2,5,8 2,3,7 1,4,5,6,7 Market Market
