Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on April 22, 2022April 22, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MISS EUGEN is relatively lightly raced compared to main rivals Thehuntsmen (23 starts), Colour Me Son (16 starts) and Oddoneout (17 starts) so with little confidence we’ll side up in her corner in this very moderate mile maiden to open the program. Went close at Geraldton two starts ago and then finished 3L off Be Optimistic and Nippa Whiskey last start with both of those gallopers running well since. COLOUR ME SON had a few traffic issues throughout running last week. Backs up off 7 days and drops 2kg. Should go close to finally breaking through. THEHUNTSMEN is a long time maiden but will stick out the trip. ODDONEOUT comes back to a maiden. Kept battling last week. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – MISS EUGEN WIN RACE 2 SWEET TEA was one of the very few gallopers to make any noticeable ground last week on a heavily leader dominated program at Albany. She was hard in betting late and came charging down the centre of the course at the finish. Backs up, extra 100m helps and with 2kg less on her back think she gets her opportunity to break through. Has some ability. BONAMICO has done nothing wrong in two starts to date and expecting Lucy Warwick to take luck out of the equation and lead. RED ORCA ran really well last start and Henry The Aviator was huge on Wednesday at Ascot. ANYOLDTIME never got into it at Narrogin. Keep safe. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – SWEET TEA WIN RACE 3 LOVE DRUNK BABY won a C2 at Mt Barker as a $1.70 chance two starts ago when leading throughout with 59kg. Last start had 60.5kg and tested the waters at 1400m at Geraldton and got no luck when working hard throughout and fading back through the field. Like the fact he comes back in distance, like the fact he drops 3kg after the claim for Taj Dyson and he can either lead or breeze outside Prince Ragnar. Great race for him. LUVACHAT was $10 into $6.50 last weekend and those punters who launched the juicy double figures were left with tears in the eyes as he got caught up in a world of traffic throughout the entire home straight. Seems a different horse under Rawiller. PRINCE RAGNAR won well last weekend but 1230m is on his limit. QUINTUS first start new yard. Keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LOVE DRUNK BABY WIN RACE 4 JULIETTE hasn’t won a race in Australia and hasn’t won a race for over 1300 days. Brave to be throwing her out as a bet and in an ideal world we’ll see an eachway quote for a little bit of safety, but this looks a wonderful race for her to break through. Few of these tested at a mile and main dangers have apprentice riders aboard. Here’s hoping Sunday’s the day. BELGRANO BELLE stays with Roy Rogers and gets in with a nice little bit of weight relief and a barrier to work with. POWERFUL FORCE is on the back-up and coming back in trip. Both look positives. MOTORCAR MOTORCAR wasn’t bad last start behind Oxbridge and Brave Contender. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – JULIETTE EACHWAY RACE 5 GIFTED WARRIOR is going super at the minute. Provided they can make some ground on Sunday at Albany this looks winnable for him. There is a stack of speed in this (Little Punga, Recharger, Read The Riot Act) who will ensure it’s a genuinely run race and if Azzopardi can get a back to follow mid-race think that Gifted Warrior can get over them late. LITTLE PUNGA was huge last week. Fresh without a trial, 57kg and just kept coming. RECHARGER is always dangerous in this grade. WHAT ABOUT MOSES didn’t get any luck 7 days ago. Better suited here and better drawn. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – GIFTED WARRIOR EACHWAY RACE 6 BLACK CHIPS has always looked the kind of one paced grinding stayer who would appreciate an extra lap. Lucy Warwick will roll across from the gate and be looking for some cover wherever she can find it. With Float Our Boat and possibly Corporate Larrikin or Frequent Friar rolling along hopefully she’ll get in. If he gets in, he’ll be there at the end. WESTERN KING might be forgotten in early markets. He is racing in career best form and thought he more than held his own in the Cup last weekend. WITHOUT REASON will be tucked away four back the fence and Turner will only have one goal for the first 2000m – get him to settle. BARONOVA has no doubt been set for this race all preparation. Showed something most recent start. OUTBACK JACK ready to win and has a senior on. Worthy of a mention too. Numbers: 3 – 14 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLACK CHIPS WIN RACE 7 ATHLONE CASTLE is a track/distance specialist. Comes back to 1100m where he has finished in the first 3 at 7 of his 14 attempts and with the Dyson claim he gets in really well at the weights against many rivals from the Pasajero form refence than many of these hold. Always goes round eachway and is racing well enough. TREVELLO was truck loaded in betting last start and had a few genuine excuses. Has proven himself an apprentices’ horse. CLASSIC MAGNUS is never far from the winner and maps a treat from the inside gate. ORISTANO has a gate where he can be ridden midfield with cover and that might see him improve. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ATHLONE CASTLE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,6,11 2,4,5,6,10 2,3,5,6,7,14 2,4,5 Market Market
