Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview

Scott Embry’s Preview

Race 1

AMBER HIGHWAY was well thought of on debut and went well enough even though beaten 4L. Looked like it was still learning the game. Blinkers on, drawn a gate it should improve quickly. HIGHFRIAR was an excellent trial and backed it up on race day with a big finishing effort at Mt Barker, big danger. TURN OF PHRASE never got going at Barker first-up but can turn it around quickly. HIGHWAY GLORY was a nice effort first-up when leading them for home and fading late.

Numbers: 9 – 7 – 10 – 8

Suggested Bet – AMBER HIGHWAY WIN

Race 2

CALBANESCO is a very nice type resuming. Trialed in effortless fashion at Mt Barker and should sit right over the speed and all things being equal looks too classy for this opposition. BROWSING bolted in first start for Paul Hunter and on that effort should be winning another soon. TRIGGERFISH was the target of strong support first-up and got the job done, can go on with it now. ROUND THE POINT should get every chance from the inside draw.

Numbers: 2 – 4 – 7 – 1

Suggested Bet – CALBANESCO WIN

Race 3

GUNFLINT comes from a strongly run 1000m race where the form is expected to hold up. Was doing his best work late and draws a gate and falls into a race without a lot of genuine opposition. TEXAN BLITZ will find this a lot easier than running into a classy 3 year old like Cup Night. Looks the big danger. DANCING JACK should be improved for the experience on debut and has blinkers added, showed ability at trials. BLUE BY YOU was not knocked around in a recent trial at Albany and looked handy enough.

Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 10

Suggested Bet – GUNFLINT WIN

Race 4

TANGO ORA put on a galloping exhibition in great time first-up at Mt Barker. He does look a metro type of progressive sprinter and this race is again at his mercy. Pateman likely to ride at 56, can’t see the Provincial Prince riding 55.5 (ever). ARRUM BOY was brave last start and again looks likely to run second to him. LONG KNIFE has no weight on his back and draws the inside. BOMBS AWAY is racing well below his best but a chance of scenery could help.

Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 2

Suggested Bet – TANGO ORA WIN

Race 5

LONG KNIFE BROTHER has always shown a level of ability and may be starting to put it all together. Two career wins have both been first-up and steps into relatively unknown territory in terms of distance but looks a nice enough horse in the making. TIPS AND SCANDALS broke through for another win last start and won soft in the end. This race is no tougher. CLEO’S AFTERPARTY does a lot of things wrong but ridden cold without the shades could see improvement. WILD FUSION struggled to find clear running first-up and improves as the distances increase.

Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5

Suggested Bet – LONG KNIFE BROTHER WIN

Race 6

MONGOLIAN WARLORD really started to hit his straps last preparation and put a few together in a row. He is drawn awkwardly but there should be a three wide train in a fast run race and he’ll be coming late. CAPTIVATED POINT drops in grade and if he can fire across from an awkward alley will be right in the finish. SUNSET PETE should be given every chance from the low draw and rumor has it his loyal owners are making the trip to the track. PRIX D’MARE is always a chance in this grade and her astute trainer has an impeccable strike rate.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6

Suggested Bet – MONGOLIAN WARLORD WIN

Race 7

RED NOIRE was extremely well backed late first-up and was good enough to suggest that second-up drawing a gate will be very hard to beat. PRINCE FRIAR was absolutely flying late in the same race and was without doubt the run of the race outside the winner. LORD KRONOS is bomb proof, he never runs a bad race and after the claim is again carrying a winnable weight. STEP RIGHT UP was well supported early first-up and has the ability to win but is hard to follow. Kind of horse where Pateman will have to tie its laces.

Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 8

Suggested Bet  –  RED NOIRE WIN
