Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 8, 2021July 8, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SEEABLE makes his debut on a Heavy track over 1200m which is never an easy task, however, he strikes a fairly even field with a number of fellow debutantes and looks from the trials to have a serious motor. Recent trial victory was impressive and if ridden for speed can come out underneath Vranyo and land in a prominent position in running. Should sneak eachway and run a race on debut. VRANYO has been a model of consistency without winning this campaign. Gets weight relief with the apprentice going on and should be in the finish again. KELLY’S LASSIE was hitting the line nicely under a hold at trials and fingers crossed Joe & Chris Kelly get some luck after a tough watch Sunday. BIGIDEAS attacked should enjoy a favourable run on debut. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – SEEABLE EACHWAY RACE 2 SAINTY CITY will go around double figures and sneak under the radar in this open 2 year old 1200. Made his debut in a white hot 1000m scamper when chasing throughout and finishing midfield beaten a fair way. The form out of that race is excellent: Storm Commander subsequent winner, Multinational subsequent winner and Beads brave Saturday placing last weekend. Drawn a gate to get the right run, has the right formline and is worth a throw at the stumps from an in-form yard. HEAR ME SING will need a peach from Knuckey from a nightmare draw but showed promise in his initial campaign. IT’SARAYDAY was a soft and quiet trial, watch the market with the Miller juveniles. THE VELVET QUEEN can punch forward and make an impression on debut. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 14 Suggested Bet – SAINTLY CITY EACHWAY RACE 3 CLASSY MACRO was a gutsy effort at his return to racing when sitting three deep throughout working and still had the audacity to loom the winner outside of Snippy Miss. Strikes a heavily rain affected track very similar to the day he broke his maiden on a Soft7 when winning by over 6L. Get some weight relief with Bennett taking the ride and if he comes out underneath Ohbeeh should land in a nice position close to the speed. Looks a good race for him. OHBEEH is a duck and loves the wet tracks. Had to fight hard last start to fend off Enticing and Prince Devoutly. Stronger form than just a midweek C3. FIERY WATER is a bit of a hit and miss enigma. Best is good enough. PORPHYRIO may need further but is suited by the conditions. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – CLASSY MACRO WIN RACE 4 PLAYING MARIKA is simply a different mare on the back-up. Now a winner off 5 days, two time winner off 7 days and again on the quick spin around from a dominant display last weekend. Should land one out, one back in a race without any serious tempo and from there gets a great chance to improve her back-up statistics. See no reason to knock her or jump off. ZARATITE resumed off a break of 651 days to run second fresh at a mile behind subsequent Group 3 Strickland Stakes winner Naughty By Nature. Can’t ask for a better form reference. GATES OF BABYLON gets things his own way out in front. LONSDALE LADY finished off well at her return. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLAYING MARIKA WIN RACE 5 SEARCHIN’ ROC’S was highly impressive last start when launching late to gun down Wise Words and win running away from them. Given a great push by David Harrison and Kyra Yuill post-race and looks even better suited stepping out to 1400m. Provided she steps cleanly she should hold a midfield position and work her way to the outside. If she lets down in the same manner here, she’ll take holding out. MOUNTAIN ASH was charging late and pulling ground off talented filly Astrape on debut. MULTINATIONAL demolished them at the midweeks and caught the eye on debut. Looks above average. WISE WORDS can bounce on the front and give a strong sight. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 12 Suggested Bet – SEARCHIN’ ROC’S WIN RACE 6 SECRET PLAN is proving a touch frustrating to follow but given the track conditions we’ll follow up and go one more time with him. His debut win really captured the imagination on a deteriorating soft6 and this is the first time since that victory that he has seen a heavily rain affected surface. Plunged at his return to racing and was solid enough in running third behind Vane Tempest to suggest that stepping up to 1200 he’ll take holding out late. CROSS STATEMENT took the step from a maiden into a 3yo 0MWLY in style and went down fighting at the hands of Ghost Who Walks. Strong sectional race and should be able to cross them. GHOST WHO WALKS enjoys a near identical run in transit to when winning last start. SMASHING has some strong Black Type form lines to her name from the previous preparation and is a versatile filly. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – SECRET PLAN WIN RACE 7 VANE TEMPEST is going super as is the Paige Kenney stable and this is excellent placement against the older horses. Coming from a narrow defeat in a 3yo 62+ behind talented filly Timely Outburst and then a dominant 62+ victory last start when ridden to perfection by Victoria Corver. Prior winner on a Soft7, prior winner with 59kg, drawn a gate to stalk a spirited early speed battle. Ticks a lot of boxes. FOREST WAR travelled boldly last start with the blinkers on and should be doing his best late. AY TEE EMM toyed with them at Pinjarra when $51 into $6 #prayersforcorporates #inwhatworld. Loves a wet track and was just as good in his trial as he was first-up. EXPRESS TIME sits on speed and is a 1000m horse. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – VANE TEMPEST WIN RACE 8 GEMMA’S SON gets a senior rider back aboard for the first time in his last four outings and if he leaves the gates cleanly, he can hold a tactical advantage over main rivals Amasenus and Miss Conteki in running and his effort last start when matching motors with gun mare Miss Conteki for the majority of the home straight was excellent. In a wide open Beaufine where opinions will be divided he’s a live eachway chance. MISS CONTEKI suffered her first defeat of the campaign at her most recent however lost no admirers after breaking 33 seconds for her last 600 in a race where they broke 58 seconds for the 1000. Low flying. AMASENUS is just a winner and is getting better and better with racing. YEAH DARDY is a Heavy8 1000m Belmont winner. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – GEMMA’S SON EACHWAY RACE 9 BLACK SHADOW goes round at eachway odds every start and gives an eachway sight to punters in each start. Drawn a gate, sits close to the speed, winner on a Heavy8, winner on a Soft7 and has finished within 2L of the winner at each of his last seven outings. Went well for Laqdar Ramoly when winning two starts ago and should be yet again in the finish in a wide open staying raffle. ELAFELLA brings lower class form but gets significant weight relief, can work his way to the front and stays out of trouble. Won by panels on a Soft6 last preparation and looks a stayer in the making. COUSIN IVAN was better last start. ARNIE’S BOY brings alternate form and is going well. Numbers: 1 – 13 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – BLACK SHADOW EACHWAY RACE 10 CAMPESE has his first start in WA off the back of two soft trial efforts. Michael Lane and Chris Parnham are one of the most successful riding/training combinations in WA and they team up with the former Eastern States 4 year old who has won both his career races first-up, is a soft7 winner and should get the right run midfield with cover. PEPPIJACK is a noted wet tracker and comes from a hot 66+ form reference behind The Spruiker, Bright Diamond and Playing Marika. Just needs luck. COSTA DEL SANTO caught the eye and went through the grades quickly last campaign on rain affected surfaces. SENTIMENTAL HERO is a lightly raced and progressive 3 year old who is capable of winning bigger and better races. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – CAMPESE EACHWAY RACE 11 PULI is an emerging front running talent who seems to thrive in the rain. Already a 3 time soft6 winner who should bounce straight to the front and drops down 6.5kg from a tough and gritty on speed victory last start when lumping a monster 62kg. Holly Watson is batting at 14% over the last 180 days which as a 3kg claimer puts her in the top bracket of talents. SPECIAL CHOICE will stalk the leader and is a highly consistent and honest mare. EEYORE WAYZ was excellent last start at 1400, backs up off 7 days and has blinkers re-applied. COMES A TIME will come across from the awkward draw and is capable of working in his races. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – PULI WIN Quaddie (Race 8 – 11) 1,2,3,5,6,7 1,2,4,7,9,13 1,2,4,7,8,10,11 4,8 Market Market
