Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on October 21, 2021October 23, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 REVITUP has had three 400m jump outs and looked sharp in all of them. Scratched from the Initial Plate when drawn wide and from barrier 2 Brad Parnham can kick through underneath them to hold a commanding position and run a cheeky race at an eachway quote. SNOWDOME has looked a promising youngster at trials. Really got going late in his 400m jump out when tested by Chris Parnham and then was an effortless 950m winner at Lark Hill on Monday. The only minor query is whether he can back up from the Monday trial to Saturday race day. POT SHOT did everything wrong on debut and yet still won the race. Hard to not be impressed, even if it was for all the wrong reasons. COSMOPOLITAN GIRL was the ‘be on me next start’ run in the Initial Plate. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – REVITUP EACHWAY RACE 2 CASTILLO DEL LAGO has been a somewhat frustrating horse to follow throughout his career because he clearly has ability but he tends to run into one or two sharper than him each and every time. The C3 form behind Big Screen is easily good enough to be winning a Westspeed Platinum race and he gets 2kg weight relief in arguably a weaker assignment. Provided he jumps cleanly he lands in a prominent position in running and gets another chance. CALL AGAIN bombed the start most recently and then pulled himself around them 3 deep to attack for the front. Did a power of work with 60.5kg and was entitled to fade late. Horse is going super. BEAT THE BELL always needs luck but gets in well at the weights. SWEET STRAWBERRY is likely to settle a fair way off the leading pair. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – CASTILLO DEL LAGO WIN RACE 3 SPEED DREAM is a talented 4 year old with strong form lines to his name. Third to Timely Outburst and Vane Tempest, second to Real Charisma (beating Timely Outburst), second to Nobel Laurence (beating Reign of Fire, No Surrender, Special View etc) and then first-up no trial finished off strongly behind emerging sprinter Secret Plan. Steps straight out to a mile which is the only query. BIG SCREEN is racing with great heart at the minute. Takes luck out of his racing by rolling to the top and while he may have to absorb some pressure here from There’s A Chance if you go through his wins they’ve all been in high pressure races. Might be a blessing in disguise. PURE DEVOTION will relish every inch of the additional trip. Can build quickly into the campaign. BRAGWELL maps to get a lovely run trailing the leaders again. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPEED DREAM WIN RACE 4 VINTAGE STOCK has returned to racing in excellent order. She is really attacking the line having run second at all three outings since a break. Gets back in her races regardless of where she’s drawn and just needs something to take her into the race in the middle stages. Always need eachway about the mare and you’ll get it here. MISS ZEDEL has always shown glimpses as a stayer and is finally starting to fulfil her potential and sneak through the grades. With the 3kg claim for Holly Watson the mare should enjoy a lovely run midfield with cover and is kept at a winnable weight impost. AXEL ‘R’ EIGHT goes better for Pateman than anyone else. Can be hit and miss but on his day he’s hard to run down. THERE’S A THOUGHT is showing a nice little turn of foot for these lower grade staying assignments. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – VINTAGE STOCK EACHWAY RACE 5 SNIPAROOCHY will have her skates on early in an attempt to cross them. Looked destined to be trapped three deep the trip in the 3 year old Classic and ran a great race in defeat. Taking on the older horses she sneaks in on the minimum and if she can cross the likes of Universal Pleasure and London Miss to find the fence, she’ll be very hard to run down. Expecting her to be popular with early shoppers. ANGELIC MISS was huge in defeat first-up last campaign in a 66+. Excellent placement by Simon Miller here with the mare resuming in a 60+ Graduation after racing in exclusively higher grade (including a 66+ win) when last in work. SHE’S GOD TO YOU trialled the house down. Her last Ascot win was in a 3 year old 62+ over Kaptain Kaos. That speaks for itself. LONDON MISS is never far from the action and maps brilliantly from the inside draw. Numbers: 13 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – SNIPAROOCHY WIN RACE 6 SECRET PLAN “could have settled last and rounded them up” according to William Pike first-up, that’s how well he has come back. Will need to reproduce and even go to a new level here to be winning a 72+ from barrier 10 of 10 beating the likes of Hot Zed, Magical Dream and others, but he has always promised to burst through the grades and get right to the top of the WA sprinting ranks. This might be the preparation. HOT ZED is just a winner. Continually lifting the bar and showed last start that he can do it just as well at 1000m as he can at 1200. Thinking here from the awkward draw that Hot Zed ends up in the breeze and from there he’s hard to get past. MAGICAL DREAM beat him home last preparation and gets a 1.5kg weight swing on him for the win. Trialled well enough without blinkers and is dynamite fresh. MULTIVERSE hasn’t won for a while but rarely runs a bad race. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SECRET PLAN WIN RACE 7 WILCHINO has been given a 2 month freshen by Danny Morton after dominating winter racing at Belmont Park as she attacks the Ascot Summer Carnival. High speed 1000m type destined for bigger and better things. There is a stack of speed in this race (Madam Torio, Mood Swings, Boomtastic, Vane Tempest) and so she will need to do it at both ends but showed last start she’s capable of doing work in her races and doesn’t necessarily have to lead either. Exciting mare. BRIGHT DIAMOND was a wallet burner last preparation going under as favourite on all three occasions. She’ll be chasing early but if Pike can hold a position and not get shuffled too far back, she’ll be weaving her way through late. MOOD SWINGS is going super but will really have to burn from the barrier. VANE TEMPEST can do a bit wrong and looks like enduring a torrid run. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WILCHINO WIN RACE 8 ARCADIA GRACE was run off her feet early in the 3 year old Classic. Spent the majority of the home straight ducking and weaving looking for a clear passage and never really got to balance and have a crack at them. With a less frenetic tempo expected here Pike can plot his path through more comfortably and if she show the same turn of acceleration as her debut win she’ll be hard to hold out late. ITSARAYDAY has real X-Factor and excitement about him. Arrogant debut win as a 2 year old and then bullied his way through along the fence in a lowly Northam C1 at $1.24 to remain undefeated. Pat Carbery jumps off the 3 year old Classic winner to ride him and that’s a powerful push. PAT’S GOT SASS was good fresh and should only improve fitness wise and up in distance. Maps to get an ideal run over the speed. SEARCHIN’ ROC’S will appreciate any residual moisture in the track. Hard to line-up her winter 2 year old form. Numbers: 15 – 6 – 13 – 10 Suggested Bet – ARCADIA GRACE WIN RACE 9 BAD WOLF ended up in an awkward position in running last start in a high rating 78+ behind Kissonallforcheeks, Luke’s Gold and Kaptain Kaos. Prior to that run finished second to the highly progressive Mr Delegator and only three starts ago was a winner in this grade. Should get a lovely run from the barrier and the way he’s going he should play a part in the finish at an eachway quote. COMFORT ME was the flashing light run first-up when held up at a crucial stage behind the tiring leaders and only getting out when the race was all over. Shot up along the fence and just missed third placing. Steps up in trip, drops 3kg in weight and looks a progressive animal capable of stringing a few together. KARIJINI AURORA backs up off 7 days after going down fighting at the hands of Son of Bacchus. Hard to fault the mare. Up to W.Pike to pull a rabbit out of the hat from the barrier. CREATOR can settle much closer second-up. Encouraging return to racing. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – BAD WOLF EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,4,7 5,12 4,6,10,13,15 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,12 Market Market
