Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 27, 2020March 3, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 SKY FIVE hit the line with Trade Fair Express two starts ago behind Pick Your Battles and the was completely chopped out for a run last start behind Magic Empire. From the gate McNaught should have him sitting one out and one back and at an eachway quote he can run a big race. REDMILL looks like finding the front for Pateman and from there is hard to run down on the quick back-up. TRADE FAIR EXPRESS has done nothing wrong in 8 outings and is getting closer and closer. DIAMOND TRADE likely settles toward the tail but a new rider could see her improve again. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SKY FIVE EACHWAY RACE 2 CITY CENTRE was the target of smart money last start when $17 into $6.5 and almost got the money. Brett Pope’s yard is starting to put some runs back on the board and from the gate she should cross the main rival Perfect Harmony and gets every chance from the front. PERFECT HARMONY is again drawn the inside as she was last weekend. She’ll look to hold up but City Centre is gate speed quick. NELLY ZANE was finishing off alright when the race was over first-up. GINGER MACK likely comes forward to breeze and is consistent. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – CITY CENTRE WIN RACE 3 PLUTOCRACY looks like having the last crack at them and that suits his race pattern perfectly. There is an abundance of speed drawn in various parts of the line and Parnham can keep him out of trouble and get over the top. CAROCAPO has gone to a new level but does look destined to do it tough out deep. CHIX PIC should get a lovely run just behind a hot speed and is in very good form and coming out of a hot form race. FLOYD caught the eye first-up but amazingly in the small field could well end up last in running. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – PLUTOCRACY WIN RACE 4 SHERPA LASS is undefeated after two starts and while the first-up win was only in a moderate to average midweek grade race she won with authority and looked like she had more improvement to come. From the gate she should get a lovely run midfield and is every chance of continuing her undefeated run. M’LADY is no slouch and should be able to cross the only other real speedster in Boyish and run along. TRUTH AND LIES was enormous last start and drops from a 72+ back into a 60+. Has to be a winning hope. BEDOUINE BELLE is doing a lot wrong but has a big turn of foot on her day. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SHERPA LASS WIN RACE 5 CRYPTIC WONDER will need an ounce of luck to find a position in the run, otherwise he’ll end up last, but his trials were enormous and his first-up win very strong. Tommy Blue and Wine Night have run rippers since and he looks like only getting better out to a mile. MONEY MATTERS is a big query at the mile but should find the front. KELVIN is first-up at 1600 off a Monday trial but his 2 year old form was super. DIVIDE THE SEA ran ridiculous leading sections in the Challenge Stakes. Ridden a little more conservatively he can improve at a big price. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – CRYPTIC WONDER WIN RACE 6 CATHERINE WHEEL backs up off 7 days from a high rating 66+ race behind Shinju and This’ll Testya. Watching the replay she probably should have gone very close to winning the race. She should end up either finding the front or sitting outside of Some Sort and from there she is clearly the one they all have to beat. CRYPTIC LOVE gets some nice weight swings on Regal Counsel and Some Sort from last campaign and if she gets into the three wide train can finish off well. DANNY GEORGE hit the line reasonably well last start. SOME SORT was attacked first-up and either leads or box seats here. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CATHERINE WHEEL WIN RACE 7 YOU AM I has really hit a purple patch of form and the Kyra Yuill/Michael Lane combination have gone at 39% over the last 90 days, a remarkable strike rate. He likely opens double figures and for a horse coming off a career best figure he gets his chance at pinching a Saturday race. HYPERSPACE improved sharply with Pike aboard last start at Narrogin and should be given a similar run in transit by Parnham. AVA EXPRESS could find himself in front by default in a race without a deal of speed. FANCY FOX has run two very encouraging races for a new stable. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – YOU AM I EACHWAY RACE 8 TUSCAN QUEEN has blinkers added for the first time and from the gate you can expect her to settle at least two pairs closer in the run than her first-up effort in the Challenge Stakes. That race was run 5L faster than average and should be the clear form referenece race to follow. NAUGHTY BY NATURE was better than Tuscan Queen in that race. Plain and simple fact. But from the draw Clint Johnston-Porter really has his work cut out. DARK MISSION won with her eyes closed last start in midweek company. Big query on the form but she is progressive and improving with every outing. MONTELENA comes from Challenge and no surprise to see her run well. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – TUSCAN QUEEN WIN RACE 9 SPILLINOVA may need to burn a bit early to get across from a really tough gate in a race with a few other noted front runners but if he can breeze outside of Al Di La he looks very hard to beat. First-up effort was strong in a hot form race (Free Trade, The Nicconian, Chix Pic) and he normally improves lengths second-up in a preparation. FESTIVAL MISS with a senior rider back aboard looks an improver. SOPHIE’S SONG likely box seats with only 53kg and won well last start. MYSTERY MISS looked good at trials without blinkers. Query is where she gets in the run for a 3kg apprentice. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPILLINOVA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 9 4,5,12 1,4,6 3,5,8,12 Market Market
