Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on March 10, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KRYSANOVA and WILEY GIRL both trialled like fillies who would be winning on debut. They both trialled over 850m on the same day at Belmont Park and KRYSANOVA went around 7L faster in her trial. Drawn an inside gate and looks a ready made race horse. In a race devoid of natural jump, run speed she should be able to hold up and either lead or sit on Lady Tremaine. WILEY GIRL had blinkers attached in her most recent trial and extended powerfully late to pull away. It was a slower trial but it was equally as impressive. LADY TREMAINE comes straight to the races off a 400m jump out win. RUBICK DELIGHT was a better run than it reads on paper behind Brave Strike. Shades on as well. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – KRYSANOVA WIN RACE 2 MULTINATIONAL was a big winner at his return to racing in a 72+ 1400 at Pinjarra Park. Rises 2kg to carry 60kg but he’s a winner, he’s tough and he’s versatile. He can park up outside of Man Crush or he can sit on Lipstick Flickers from the draw. Either way he looks to get the right run and either way he should be right in the finish again. Would have measured up in the Bunbury Stakes but Neville Parnham elects to go to the easier assignment and try to pick up another ratings race before testing him in Black Type company. BE OPTIMISTIC was crunched in betting last week but was no match for Birdieagle and Weaponson. On the back-up, dropping down to 53.5kg and gets a soft run three back the fence. MAN CRUSH is yet to prove himself at 1400m but is racing well. BRAGWELL put on a clinic last start. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MULTINATIONAL WIN RACE 3 MACK MACK was a tough watch first-up. He was well supported in betting ($14 into $5.50) and after being slow into strike (as he was in his trial) he got shuffled back into a horrible position in a muddlingly run race (first 1000 was 5L slower than average). Thought he did a super job to finish off into fifth after finally seeing daylight half way up the straight and this looks a very winnable 3 year old contest for him. If he jumps cleanly he could nearly lead them, but provided he isn’t slowly away he should lob a great spot. MAJOR MAX has 59kg to contend with an a sticky draw but he was brave last start behind Excelestial after being run up the track on a cutaway day. ROCK MY WAY improves off her fresh run. VAST ART is a work in progress. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – MACK MACK WIN RACE 4 CYWER resumed at 1200m when gunned down late by a filly with a sharp turn of acceleration in Twice A Fortnight. She can blend into the field from her middle alley and travels powerfully in her races. Think she’s far better suited at 1400m than she was first-up at 1200m and CJP is back riding with great confidence. Looks a very winnable race for her and she’s only missed the top two once in her life. Understandably popular. ROCKSTAR STATUS was ridden off speed last start on a day that was suiting swoopers. Smart move and she ran well behind Rocky Path and subsequent winner Blazing Tycoon. Can return to her usual on speed race pattern here and only has 54kg on her back after the claim. BEAT THE BRO is hitting the line well again and backs up off 7 days. WUNDERKIND was unsuited by the conditions last start. Blow out hope with 51.5kg. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – CYWER WIN RACE 5 LET’SDEAL seems to have found his niche as a stayer. Always shown ability but seemingly struggled for consistency in his previous preparations. Demolished moderate opposition in a 64+ at Albany and then backed it up with a strong victory over the popular Bunbury Cup favourite Casino Seventeen. Provided Shaun McGruddy can keep him off the fence he’ll be hard to hold out again. OVERTHOUGHT was a big improver last weekend when finishing 3L off Currimundi and Mountain Ash. ALL MAN wasn’t as bad a run as it reads on paper last week. Came home in 35.92 which is about as quick as he can go. TENA KOUTOU is first-up at 2200m. Normally it would be a flat no, but given the herculean effort of stablemate Off Wego in the Esperance Cup you have to respect. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – LET’SDEAL WIN RACE 6 MAGNIFICENT ANDY was arguably the run of the meeting last start behind Romancing The Rock. It was an on speed and on fence day at Ascot and he parked three deep the trip with 59kg and sustained a big run down the centre. Bar Plates come off, he’s drawn a middle alley to get cover and he’s ready to win fourth-up. Has improved at each run and looks poised to strike. Great race for him on paper. MAHALEO had his first start for Warwick Bradshaw at Pinjarra and put in a blinder behind subsequent winners Supersession and Excelestial. Swaps blinkers for a near-side blinker. ROMANCING THE ROCK has a lot to learn but a stack of natural ability. EEE PEE CEE gets some weight relief and is progressive. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFICENT ANDY WIN RACE 7 CREATOR put the writing on the wall in the Pinjarra Classic behind Hot Zed. He was bursting through heavy traffic late and savaged the line at the 1300m. Given his imposing 1400m record (3 wins and 4 minors) he looks even better suited with an extra hundred metres, even better drawn and can settle at least a pair or two closer from the favourable alley. CJP jumping off Burnya To Survive to ride Creator is the lead punters were after and he’ll nearly go round eachway. TITAN BLINDERS was ridden to try and take advantage of the track pattern at Pinjarra. Simply went far too hard early. LAST OF THE LINE trialled super but concedes weight to Titan Blinders and Em Tee Aye from defeats in the Eurythmic and Asian Beau respectively. BURNYA TO SURVIVE is destined to measure up at this level. But given the bar plate remains on and CJP jumps off there’s an element of concern. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CREATOR EACHWAY RACE 8 CASINO SEVENTEEN looks brilliantly placed and suited in the re-handicapped conditions of the 2023 Furphy Bunbury Cup. m84 rater in an 82+ means he gets in 1kg above the minimum and drops serious weight on recent efforts in 72+ and 66+ grade. He is drawn a gate to park midfield in a race where they’ll get along at a reasonable enough tempo behind Black Shadow, No Apology and even Bruce Almighty and he’s showing a mountain of staying ability. The horses who went through the Perth Cup campaign and raced in the Detonator looked tired and he’s the new kid on the block at the peak of his powers. NO APOLOGY is another who avoided the testing Scahill/Towton/ATA/Perth Cup campaign and is seemingly reaping the rewards. Logical danger from the box seat. BLACK SHADOW was a good return to racing. BRUCE ALMIGHTY is racing super. Just query whether he’ll stay. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – CASINO SEVENTEEN WIN Same Race Multi – Casino Seventeen (Win) + Black Shadow (Top 4) RACE 9 MISS FIELD ran straight past Lady Tornado first-up with 60kg when sitting three deep the trip without cover and beating her home by 1.3L. Two months later they meet again and there’s a 3kg weight swing in favour of Miss Field having beaten her. She’ll also go round double her price and is drawn barrier 1 to get every conceivable chance in a race with a genuine speed behind Nobellity, Men’s Club, Born To Talk and Lady Tornado. LADY TORNADO has clearly turned a corner since that encounter but she’s still only coming out of C1 & C3 company. BORN TO TALK is a model of consistency and is a two time winner on the 7 day back-up. BOURBON BEAU was a solid run for the new stable. Numbers: 10 – 13 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS FIELD EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,4,5,9 1,2,4,5,8 6 1,2,4,8,10,11,13 Market Market
