Scott Embry’s Saturday Mingenew Preview Posted on March 10, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WOJTEK won a Geraldton maiden before finishing second and third in respective C1 and C2 events over 1400m and 1600m at Geraldton. His two runs since a freshen have left a fair bit to be desired but this is one of the biggest drops in grade you will see in racing: Restricted Listed Company into a CB Trophy Race. He should cross to the lead and from there he’s the one they all need to run down. RUN TEDDY RUN drops 11kg on his second placing at Kojonup. Simone Altieri is sure to ride a track like Mingenew well. OLD TOWN PREDATOR actually wasn’t too bad at Pinjarra even beaten 11L. XCAVATE is looking for further but can sprint well enough fresh. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – WOJTEK WIN RACE 2 BOLD PROPHET has promised to win a maiden all season. Every time he goes to the races in Geraldton he seems to find one better than him. If he can’t pinch one at Mingenew he might need to head to Dongara on Easter Sunday because if he ended his preparation still a maiden it would be unfair. Great race for him to finally break through. GINGERLAGO found a bit of traffic at her return to racing. Liked the effort and Peta Edwards is a big jockey booking. LE WREN may look to cross them from the wide draw. If she gets across, she can win. ROSA BALLERINA was only beaten 8L by Rupert’s Empire and Franic War down the straight at Pinjarra. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – BOLD PROPHET WIN RACE 3 WARPIPES ran really well first-up behind Pure Dynamite and subsequent winner Pop The Moet in an 1100m C2. Showed it was no fluke with a fifth behind Pop The Moet, Luckee Floran and Let them All Talk and then stepped to 1400m and rolled them along when fading out badly to be beaten over 11L. Backs up off 7 days, drops back to 1200m and his only win was off the 7 day back-up. Chance at odds. DEMERITS PRIDE comes through the red-hot Brisance, Speed Bubble Race and prior to that was on the heels of Warpipes. SHAMARA returns to the stables of Sean Rains. Jury is out on whether she’s just a Carnarvon dirt mare but this is winnable. SLY AS A FOX is probably one of the more talented gallopers in this line-up but 1900 back to 1600 back to 1200m is an ask. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – WARPIPES WIN RACE 4 THREE SESSIONS should be simply too classy for these in the Mingenew Sprint. 7 days at the Geraldton meeting won a 70+ when facing the breeze. He now drops back into a 62+ and is a proven weight carrier (winner with 61.5kg and 60kg). He should comfortably get across from his gate to the breeze but even if he’s caught three deep throughout that’s where he won a 58+ 1100m from at his return to racing. Barry Newnham is striking at 53% winners to runners the last 90 days at a remarkable 154% POT. HERITAGE SASH is no stranger to weight. He’s clearly more a dirt horse but if he gets across, he can still give cheek. YANGTZE RAPIDS lumped 72 at Kojonup. Won’t know himself with 54. THE FUGAZI hasn’t shown his best for a long while but Aaron Pateman makes a stack of gear changes. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – THREE SESSIONS WIN RACE 5 SHABALALA is only the winner of a Pinjarra maiden but he looks to have big claims in the Mingenew Cup. Last start in a C3 2100 he finished off into fourth behind Masaru, Candlelight Supper and subsequent winner Bandalera Miss. He drops 1kg off that effort after the claim for Rosie Mahony and from barrier 4 he can position just behind the speed. Gets his chance to notch up win number two. PROXY is deep into his preparation. Start number 11 in his campaign and start number 111 in his career. Should be work his way to the top he could easily out grind them. MIETTE STAR is backing up off 5 days. Not sure if she stays, we’ll find out here. GRACIEBIRD is honest and will keep whacking away. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – SHABALALA WIN RACE 6 GALIBA finished third to Fair Justice and Leading Man in a C5 1200 at Esperance before finishing second to stablemate Magic Of Zeus over 1600m in a 56+ only 6 days later. Austin Galati takes over riding duties and he did pilot the mare to two wins at Port Hedland back in 2021. She’s going well and she’s drawn to park over the speed. JUSTA LIL FAITH has had a wonderful preparation for Julia Martin. No weight on her back, drawn to get a gun run and looks a big danger. DATALKA has been popular with punters since arriving in the Mid-West. JUPITERS SUN an improver. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GALIBA WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,4,6,8,9 4 1,3 1,8 Market Market
