Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on March 10, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 SHOCK ‘EM OVA should appreciate the spacious Flemington circuit after an eye-catching performance chasing ALVERDUN last time. SPARKLE backs up from an encouraging run last week and should relish the step up to 2000m. INDEPENDENT ROAD looks the other key winning hope, he was held up at a crucial stage last start. Selections: 4,2,3,1 Suggested Bet: Shock ’em Ova to win Race 2 WHAT YOU NEED impressed as a short-priced favourite on debut and has jumped out in good style to resume. GENERAL BARCA is likely to settle off speed but has a powerful finish and get blinkers. FASUTO is building a handy record, he’s also jumped out nicely and covered ground in a strong race at his latest run. KAYGEEBEE in undefeated to date and will make his own luck. Selections: 6,8,7,3 Suggested Bet: What You Need to win Race 3 SHUFFLE DANCER received a great ride to win last start but she has genuine upside and shapes as through 1600m will suit. PAPILLON CLUB is another with upside and battled on bravely after covering ground in a key lead up race last time. REVOLUTIONARY MISS has been going well in the strongest fillies races in Sydney and was able to run second in the 1000 Guineas over 1600m. WOLLOMBI is fit and flying. Selections: 3,7,1,5 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 3 & 7 Race 4 Hoping GANBARE can roll forward at 1400m and if he can, he should give a great sight. FREAKOFNATURE showed terrific fight to win in debut and has jumped out well since. VEIGHT also impressed on debut, he gets winkers and will be part of the speed. DUBENEKO did little early work but recorded some impressive late sectionals in the Blue Diamond. AMUR, at his best, TOM KITTEN and FISTOFFURY have some claims in an open race. Selections: 3,6,7,11 Suggested Bet: Ganbare each way Race 5 EXCELIDA was outstanding after blowing the start behind Annavisto second up and should appreciate getting out to 1600m. BARB RAIDER was solid first up and should also be suited by the rise in trip. SIRILEO MISS was ok behind Annavisto first up, as was ELUSIVE EXPRESS, who gets blinkers. Selections: 4,3,5,6 Suggested Bet: Excelida each way Race 6 EMISSARY chased a hot speed first up and is sure to strip fitter, the step up to 2000m looks suitable. VOW AND DECLARE comes back from 2100m to 2000m but ran well on that occasion and isn’t badly treated by the conditions of the race. RIGHT YOU ARE is flying, he doesn’t have the same weight advantage as last start but can’t be ignored. SUREFIRE might be ready to improve. MAROCCHINO brings some solid WA form and will make his own luck. Selections: 5,3,7,6 Suggested Bet: Working around 5,3,7 & 6 Race 7 Great race. IN SECRET drops back to 1200m from her last run, in a similar pattern to when she won the Coolmore in the spring, albeit of a shorter break. I WISH I WIN was outstanding in the Black Caviar Lightning. if he has another fresh run in him, he’s going to be hard to hold out. BUENOS NOCHES also ran well in the Lightning, he’ll appreciate 1200m and getting right down in the weights. PRIVATE EYE flies down the straight and has trialled in typically good fashion. LOFTY STRIKE is right in it. Selections: 15,3,16,1 Suggested Bet: In Secret each way Race 8 SCALLOPINI offset a wide draw to keep his unbeaten Flemington record intact last start and expect similar tactics here. AYRTON generally fires fresh and has been jumping out well. BIOMERTIC isn’t a regular winner but is racing well and chased strongly behind Scallopini at his latest run. SAVANNAH CLOUD has been up a long time but is holding his form. Selections: 1,4,11,12 Suggested Bet: Scallopini each way Race 9 Wide finish. MERIDIUS should appreciate the step up to 1400m after working home solidly in the Zeditave first up. JENNY JEROME got the perfect run to score last time but will strip fitter and should also appreciate 1400m. IS IT ME is promising, he’s jumped out quite well for his toughest test to date. CLIMBING STAR has the talent to win and has had excuses at her two runs this preparation. LETHAL THOUGHTS wasn’t at his best last time in but looks to be going well at the jumpouts. Selections: 2,6,11,3 Suggested Bet: Meridius each way Market Market
