Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 13, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SPECIALISM deserves to be odds on in this race. Winner of two from three and only knocked off late in a brave defeat to the talented Jericho Missile. This race is miles easier and it would surprise to see anything over $1.70 at the jump. RED WARRIOR and RUBIC ROSE come from the same trial and both were fairly impressive. BEETHOVEN only comes from a 400m jump out but looked a nice mover and can give some cheek. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPECIALISM WIN Race 2 ANGELIC RULER could be a well above average filly. Some of her closing sectionals in her first preparation as a 2 year old were simply awesome and her recent trial suggests she’s come back even better. Will naturally settle off them but if they can make ground watch her late. KELLY’S CALLISTO was a very nice trial when never asked for an effort. Leads or box seats and must be respected. TRULY GREAT wound up nicely on debut to win impressively, only query is on what he actually beat. KAKADU was a bit stiff against the older horses first-up. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – ANGELIC RULER WIN Race 3 VITAL SILVER is an exciting type who many expect to go through the grades this preparation. His form last preparation was definitely good enough and his two recent trials have been excellent. Run down late by Rebel King and Enticing Star before making ground along the inside of genuine 78+ sprinters Gee Boss and Ambiente. Sits in the breeze and hard to beat. FLOWER OF SCOTLAND has come back really well this preparation and she is never far from the action. Settles prominently and the danger. NEUROLOGICAL won three on the bounce before running into nice types Jeraft, Blackline and Like A Butterfly. WAR KSAR fresh can run a cheeky race. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – VITAL SILVER WIN Race 4 BELTER was second in the Group 3 Colonel Reeves first-up beating the likes of Dainty Tess and Profit Street home. Lead them up and was gone at the corner in the Winterbottom but back in grade and reunited with Tayla Stone is the one to chase down. GEE BOSS is weighted to win this race after the claim. He is a genuine top grader and trialed well for his return. THE CELT has hit a purple patch and won well last start lumping a big weight. HOW TO FLY will again charge late. It’s a question of conditions and racing luck for her. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BELTER WIN Race 5 BURGER TIME has always promised to be a Saturday type of stayer and he finally looks to have put it all together. They will stretch out of a lot of real estate behind Beaucount and he will need to sustain a run but is capable. BEAUCOUNT is bursting to win a race and one day will pinch one of these. He’s always a places punt at a price. MAGICAL CHARM was found out last start in the fast run race. If she gets towed up to the leader can turn the tables. MY FAIR BEAUTY is likely to get a suck run up along the fence and can fill a hole. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – BURGER TIME EACHWAY Race 6 VALOUR ROAD was sensational against the older horse in the Group 1 Winterbottom when the target of strong support. He will likely enjoy the run behind Wrinkly and Great Shot and be the first to go past them. ARCADIA PRINCE has turned a corner and is starting to fulfill his potential. When he gets to the outside and balances can really fly. GREAT SHOT backs up off 7 days and drops back in trip, both look to suit. PINZU won well first-up and gets the right run for him smothered up midfield. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – VALOUR ROAD WIN Race 7 JERAFT won three on the bounce for Chris Parnham before he was suspended and Steven Parnham went aboard. That riding change was coupled with a bad barrier and a race where the leader broke open the field. Regular rider back on and drawn a gate. SPILLINOVA won well two starts ago before electing to take an early sit due to a strong breeze in the back straight. Should get more favorable conditions Saturday and leads again. IN LOVE WITH PARIS was well supported in a Listed race last start and went well. REVEILLE is ready to win another and will be charging late. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – JERAFT EACHWAY Race 8 MR ALBY gets a wonderful chance to win another graduation 1800m race and at the price looks a nice eachway investment. Winner in this grade three starts ago, only knocked off by Dark Prospect in a 66+ two starts ago and then failed to run out the trip last start. Back in trip and after the claim looks hard to beat. ROYAL COMMAND has been rolled under $4 at his last five starts. Query at the trip and you’d be brave to be launching into him at the David Shorttes. FIRST GROWTH is another who doesn’t look to run out a strong 2100 and back in trip suits. BORN BLUE is far better suited at this trip and will improve quickly. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – MR ALBY EACHWAY Race 9 TRULY BELONG was a complete forgive and forget run last start. She was held up for the entire straight and never tested. If she sees day light can ping late. ARRUM BOY brings a very alternatively form line to town coming from the 70+s in Albany and Mt Barker. He can hold leader’s back and is really racing strongly at the minute. DISRUPTIVE first-up, no trial can fire across from an awkward alley and if he finds the breeze will be hard to beat. DAM READY is in form and so is Pateman. Hard to knock. Numbers: 13 – 6 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRULY BELONG EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 8,9 2,3,8,9 2,3,4 1,3,4,6,8,13 Market Market
