Scott Embry’s Saturday Albany Preview Posted on January 28, 2022January 28, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STRAITE AND NARROW pushed handy filly Snippagem to the line last start in a 1500m maiden at Albany. With Snippagem going to a C1 1600 at Belmont on Wednesday and finishing second to emerging youngster First Missile it looks the obvious form reference. FINAL PLAN really caught the eye last start at 1200m and looks like a miler in the making. Went around at 100-1 and finished midfield so could be missed by the market early. Keep safe. THINKING GAME hit the line well on debut and the regally bred mare should only improve with racing. DARK GOSSIP is racing better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – STRAITE AND NARROW WIN RACE 2 LUVACHAT was a tough watch on debut for those who launched him at the shorts. Was incredibly well backed from $2.40 into $1.80 late in betting, with punters jumping out of trees to take whatever price was available. Big, raw, green, new type who found a stack of traffic and had a heap of excuses. Kept out of trouble he should go close at start number two. WISE WORDS comes from a particularly high rating maiden. Civvy Street won a 3yo 0MWLY on Wednesday and My Baby Blue Jean is in on Saturday in a 3 year old Plate. COLOUR ME SON is incredibly consistent but does lack a killer instinct. KING OF THE JIVE was immediately tipped out after the debut. Trials have been sound. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LUVACHAT WIN RACE 3 SPEEDY PYE was a successful plunge last start. Opened north of $6 and was extremely well supported into $2.40 and never looked like being run down. Once Tash Faithfull found the front he filly relaxed and gave a serious kick turning for home. Shouldn’t have to do anywhere near as much work early from an ideal gate and should prove hard to beat again. BELLE OF POWER comes from a strong C2 event when finshing third behind her stablemates Halatorion and Captain Sharmane. LE GRAND AMOUR is green and new but clearly has a motor. Kept fresh and kept to the sprint trip. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY ran a big girl race last start. Can give cheek on her day. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SPEEDY PYE WIN RACE 4 SEE YA CHAMP returns to the track where she broke her maiden on debut. Hasn’t been able to pinch another one since but has raced in tougher races than this over that period. Thought her last start effort when finishing fourth was super and she ran all the best closing sections. Fastest L600 and put the writing on the wall for a race like this. HOOLAHOOPS has run well at two starts back on the grass. CONVALESCE can take a long while to really wind up in his races. Hasn’t been sighted since November. TUMIVET can improve on his Esperance debut. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SEE YA CHAMP WIN RACE 5 WORTH A RISK has been a super find for SJ Wolfe’s Great Southern yard. Was always an honest and consistent customer when trained by the Pearce Brothers but has gone to a new level for Steve Wolfe. Went to town last start and wasn’t disgraced behind a white hot pair in Cheval De Vaga and Trade War. 3 from 3 undefeated at Albany and returns ‘home’. WILD FUSION is a super pick up ride for Taj Dyson. Gets in with only 54.5kg and comes out of the Fitzpatrick Plate and Mt Barker Sprint. Excellent placement by Liam O’Loughlin. CHASING CHAOS won’t know himself with only 54kg. BENTLEY’S BROTHER wasn’t too bad fresh. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – WORTH A RISK WIN RACE 6 MR MT WALKER is always going to be competitive in this grade. Has won 2 races at Albany and then done the vast majority of his racing in the metro and provincial area. Coming out of Saturday 60+ Graduation and Wednesday 0MWLY company in town and after the claim for Tyla Becker only carries 57.5kg. Honest galloper who is rarely far from the action. COLD AS COLD can be a little hit and miss but the runner up performance at Esperance behind I Am Spartacus looks great now with that galloper going enormous in the Mt Barker sprint. KITGUM is coming out of fast run races and gets in with no weight. No surprise to see him go well. DANEHILL STORM ran well last start. Likely to breeze again. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – MR MT WALKER WIN RACE 7 EUROGEM brings alternate form to this feature event travelling up from Esperance. Likely to really divide opinion but hard to argue with the two runs in WA. Savaged the line at her WA debut behind Fair Justice, Deel Red and Salvara and then finished second at the hands of Warzachantz when working hard in the early stages. Senior on, drawn a gate, live chance in an open race. FIRE GODDESS had all sorts of traffic problems last start. This is a great race for her and she’s clearly come back well. STARORIO is a four time winner at Albany and her fresh run behind Dipara was super. TRISUEM will be there if it is a genuinely run mile. Few suspect at the trip but she’s proven over further. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – EUROGEM WIN RACE 8 APOLLO should enjoy the run of the race from barrier 3. Great use of the Kate Southam 2kg claim and great placement to come from a 70+ behind Kia Ora Star (Fitzpatrick Plate winner) and Kendel’s Mee Dad to a 58+. Never missed the money from 5 attempts track and distance and is the kind of horse who needs a soft run off a hot speed. Gets those conditions here. SIR SNUGALOT is awkwardly caught between 58+ and 70+. At this stage of his career the 58+ with weight is probably the better option. KRISTELLA can improve sharply second-up without surprising. VRUM is racing in career best form this time in. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – APOLLO WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3 1,2,4 1,3,4,5,7,8,9,11 1,2,4,5,9 Market Market
